Cozy, welcoming and warm

  • 5 of 5

Cheryl and Doug's studio was the absolute perfect home base for a long weekend getaway to do some cross country skiing at Lapland.

We arrived on a snowy evening and Doug was generous enough to take time away from his other work to plow the driveway for us!

The studio is VERY large and spacious! The king bed is unbelievably comfortable - I slept like a rock! - and the couch and love seat were a great place to relax and kick our feet up at the end of a great day of XC Skiing.

The weather reached about -6 while we were visiting the area, but the studio was warm and toasty the entire time. The charming gas fireplace kept things cozy and added to the great ambiance.

To top it all off - I forgot my phone charger in the studio the day we checked out and Cheryl was kind enough to call me and arrange to have it shipped back to me! What a thoughtful and generous gesture! We would definitely recommend someone to stay in the studio!

Wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband had surgery yesterday, and we wanted a quick getaway before going to the hospital. This studio apartment was the perfect place to stay, and it was very close to Lapland Lake, where I went skiing. Cheryl and Doug are very warm and welcoming, and it was so nice to find a plate of homemade Christmas cookies for us! The apartment is spotless, and beautifully decorated with many Adirondack themed artifacts! (where did you get the moose clock, I loved it!) The bed, as noted in other reviews, is extremely comfortable, and there is a great hot shower! The location is perfect for skiing and dining as there are a couple very nice restaurants close by. Thank you Cheryl and Doug for the wonderful week-end! It was such a treat to stay at your beautiful studio apartment!

Perfect Stay in the Adirondacks!

  • 5 of 5

We had a very lovely stay with Doug and Cheryl over the Labor Day weekend. They were friendly, accommodating and the space was gorgeous. We came from the hustle and bustle of Brooklyn (about 4.5 hours away), and left completely relaxed after a weekend of hiking nearby, eating at some local spots in the surrounding area and finding a few wineries to indulge in.

The best part of our stay were the massages Cheryl arranged for Saturday morning. Our masseuse arrived on time and gave personalized service to the both of us! It was such a treat! While I waited for my massage, I sat on the gorgeous balcony sipping coffee and reading leisurely.

I would recommend this stay for a lovely time Upstate.

Luxury in a rustic loft

  • 5 of 5

The pictures say it all--the apartment is spotless and new, outfitted with everything you might need for a cozy romantic getaway. The location was perfect for us as we had family staying close by, and we were able to have our own place to come home to. The river views are great from your private balcony for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Nice sheets and towels, great comfy bed. Awesome shower!

Doug and Cheryl were friendly and responsive hosts, making our stay trouble free and comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful stay--from the cucumbers from your garden to the fresh flowers and chocolates. We would love to plan another trip to go tubing again.

Unwind and relax on the river.

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of sampling both the loft and the cabin on two separate visits to this property. Doug and Cheryl are the consummate hosts while the river out their door offered both atmosphere and activity throughout our relaxing stay. Although the loft was more romantic and cozy, the cabin offers far more opportunity to cook and enjoy home cooked meals. Doug was kind enough to allow me to use his kayaks on the river and this saved me lots of hassle and expense involved with renting. They clear a path from their property to a rocky beach on a river island across the street. This offers an exceptionally private area to relax and enjoy the river either with a fishing pole or just playing in the water. We would look for any excuse to return to this property on a frequent basis. Many thanks to both Doug and Cheryl (and their dogs Beau and Molly) for a wonderful stay and chance to unwind in a home away from home in the course of a long drive from Texas.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure meeting you both and we were honored that you chose to come back to spend a couple more days at the cabin. We've had guests say they prefer the cabin over the studio and vice-versa. I guess it just depends on the person's taste. We try to make each of our rentals as comfortable as possible so thank you for your kind words for both. You both are so nice and we enjoyed our talks. Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to meet again and we wish you a wonderful rest of your venture back east! Best Wishes, Doug and Cheryl

a retreat

a perfectly inviting and cozy haven! Cheryl and Doug are wonderful hostesses who put so much thought into making the studio very welcoming with an adirondack theme. We love to cross country ski and downhill ski so it was so nice to come in to the studio after being out in the cold all day...the wood stove, cozy furniture, small kitchenette and big cozy king size bed make it hard to leave. We will be back for our 3rd visit! :)

Owner's Response: We're so glad you both returned for your winter get-away and thank you for the great review. Getting feedback is very important and we do try to make our vacation rental very special so our guest will come again sometime. I look forward to meeting you (finally) when you come back! Doug and Cheryl
