No car needed- Trailways bus direct from the Port Authority in NYC will land you within a couple of minutes walk from the studio.
Studio has a very basic little kitchenette with toaster, fridge, coffee maker and microwave and a few utensils. We are not set up for cooking as most guests eat at Brios and Mama's Boy only a couple of minutes walk from the studio, or venture out a few minutes to have breakfast at the fabulous new Phoenicia Diner on Route 28 or dinner at the Peekamoose in Big Indian. Brios has great wood fired pizzas, and Ricciardella's has the classier cuisine. The Peekamoose for locally sourced produce cooked with love and flair in a beautiful setting. The world class Emerson resort and Spa is three minutes away and boasts the wonderful Phoenix restaurant as well as offering an array of spa treatments. Enjoy a latte and free wi fi at Mama's Boys Coffee Shop. Ask about more dining options- we're happy to make recommendations. Basic self catering items can be purchased on the corner in the Phoenicia Supermarket.
Miles of pristine hiking trails await. The wonderful Tannbark Trail easily accessible from behind the studio from the back of the Parish Field. Hike 20 minutes to the top of the Mountain for great views of Phoenicia and surrounding mountains- if you're feeling fit, continue on the loop for another hour or so to experience woods, cliffs, little waterfalls and pure streams.

Rent a bike at Mike's Bikes or find something surprising at The Mystery Spot or The Home Store. Monthly art openings at the Arts Upstairs are a blast and classic movies and home grown theater take center stage at the Shandaken Theatrical Society Theater.Take a train ride along the Esopus Creek from the Railway Museum just around the corner. The annual Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, founded by the owner , opera singer Kerry Henderson, transforms our little town into a hub for the vocal arts in early August.
