This beautiful two storey house has an inner court and is located in the center of Roustika traditional settlement, right in front of the Ekklisia tis Panagias (St Mary's Church), a church where wall paintings dated back to 1381 can been seen.

The ground floor of the house consists of 2 bedrooms, a main hallway with a bed under the staircase, a bathroom with shower and the inner court.

The first floor of the house has one bedroom with ensuite bathroom, the kitchen and living room space, and the main balcony where one can enjoy beautiful views of the village and the sunset.

The house is beautifully decorated with Cretan antique furniture.

Strategically placed in the center of Rethymnon Percecture, Roustika village is an ideal place for quiet holidays that combines daily excursions to the magical south beaches of Crete (15 km from beaches such as Preveli and Plakias), cool afternoons on the hills of mainland Crete (300m altitude guarantees lower temperatures during hot Greek summers), but also realatively easy access to Rethymno Town for elegant dining and shopping.

Roustika is altogether a traditional village,one of the better preserved in Crete, right in the E4 European Long Distance Path which starts at the Pyrenees in Spain to end in Cyprus and also hometown of famous Greek poet Manolis Anagnostakis.

The village hosts a beautiful and as-original-as-can-be traditional 'kafeneio' (taverna) where one can taste homecooking by the lovely owner/cook/waitress and sip 'tsikoudia', the local alcoholic beverage.

Blissful stay in a wonderful house

We spent a month at this lovely house last summer and couldn't have been happier. The owner, Haris, met us in the village on arrival and told us everything we needed to know as well as arranging a fantastic meal at the local restaurant for us on our first day.

The house was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with a washing machine, modern kitchen, television, internet and everything you could possibly need. It is stylishly decorated and very comfortable. The view from the terrace in the evening is wonderful.

The location is brilliant - located inland in a completely traditional village, with friendly and kind neighbours, it is just 20 minutes or so (and a beautiful drive) from the gorgeous, well-maintained and uncrowded beaches of the south coast, and 20 minutes from the beautiful city of Rethymno on the north coast.

It was great to stay in a beautiful restored traditional village house in an unspoilt location. We will definitely be returning again this year.
