The property is located in the heart of Barcelona, with the Ramblas at your doorstep. This area is called Ciutat Vella or Barri Gotic (the historical Gothic Quarter).
The Gothic District passes between the two most important avenues of the old city, Via Laietana and Las Ramblas, and between the Catalonia square. And the sea is just ten minutes on foot from the apartment. A very pleasant walk through the harbour.
This District constitutes the heart of the old city of Barcelona where the walled Roman city was located (the origin of present Barcelona).
Also, the fantastic Art Noveau style Cafe de la Opera is close to the apartment. You can enjoy breakfast or some tapas. Good value for money.
The Ramblas is a street full of energy, colored flower stands and busy day and night.
Five minutes walking distance through the flower stands you can find the Boqueria market (listed among the best markets in the world). You can do grocery shopping (avoid the middle pricey stands ;) and you can buy nice fresh bread to go with your freshly brewed coffee.

I am a Barcelona local who loves her city and is happy to share any recommendations and experiences that will help you enjoy Barcelona from local point of view, not intoxicated by tourists.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2000
Is a beautiful lively area in the center of the city. You will have a vintage experience, living in an apartment with curiosities and antique building and deco. Where ladies in the 19th century tried out their outfits, since it was once used as a tailor for the Opera House.
Enjoy the vibrant center of Barcelona and shopping and the Gotic quarter and the Cathedral are just around the cornder. Super central location, after long hours of walking, you enjoy a quick rest & stop at your apartment, for a quick break, for a snack and then you can go back to your tourist race. Grocery shopping in the Boqueria market and close by supermarkets, you can store some food at home and avoid spending extra money on overpriced touristic food.
Having a week off from the kids and needing a getaway, we decided on Barcelona. We had never visited Barcelona before and knew nothing about the layout of the city, so after umming and ahhing over a bunch of listings we plumped, luckily, for this gem.
Fantastic location! Smack dab in the middle of Barcelona, right on the rambla, you couldn't ask for an easier start each day to go do all the touristy things! There's a underground station just outside the door and across the road is the opera house. Even a walk to the big Bocaria market-place only takes a few minutes.
We just wanted to say thanks to Eli, the owner. Our plane was delayed and we were over an hour late getting from the airport to the flat. But she was still waiting for us, thank god, and gave us a great welcome and took her time taking us through her beautiful place. Lovely old decorations throughout and a great size. (It almost seemed a pity we hadn't brought the kids as there was tons of room. Almost!) The flat looks right out on the rambla, with two little balconies, where we sat out most evenings and had a glass of wine.
Barcelona is a big place, full of restaurants and bars and places to visit, but honestly it's very difficult to know where to start.
Thanks again Eli! She told us to call or text if we needed any help, so we did,...a few times.
She was so helpful and just added that extra something you are looking for when you get to a new city and don't know anyone, or even which direction to start walking in. She advised us on what areas were good to go out in, the best places to visit, where not to wander and gave us some great tips on some restaurants and bars she frequents, which turned out to be great advice and made us feel we had had a much more authentic stay. (Would you know where to go to have real 'Swiss chocolate and churros' with the locals?!)
And luckily she showed us how to keep our eyes open for the cities pickpockets, and we left with cameras and wallets intact.
Just wanted to say thanks again for looking after us Eli, you were a great host. We will definitely come visit Barcelona again! Maybe with the kids next time!

This apartment gave us access to everything in the Old City in minutes. Spent a week there, still didn't touch all that we could have. Subway stop in front, endless bars, restaurants, shopping, parks and market within blocks. Safe, comfortable, very quiet despite the constant crowds on La Ramblas below. Eli was a generous help with direction and ideas. We didn't spend much time there but to sleep and prepare for the next outing, but it had plenty of room for 4 adults, clean and comfortable. Walk or quick train/taxi to all the Gaudi and other attractions, beaches, museums. Barcelona was a non-stop, diverse and friendly international experience for this family's first European vacation, and this apartment was the perfect place to start from.
If you are expecting American standards like the Hilton, you may be disappointed. But if you want Barcelona and location, location, location, well, this is for you! After I saw the apt, I was relieved to know it was as expected: huge rooms, and CLEAN. We loved the huge doors that open to the balcony overlooking La Ramblas, and did I mention the WIFI? We were able to facetime and text our families any time. The two bedrooms at the front were VERY quiet, thanks to those massive double windows/doors, and the back bedroom was a little noisier but we slept soundly anyway. I did notice a bathtub in the photos, but the tub is now just a shower. The additional half bath came in handy since there were 4 women. The only problem we had was the stairs...my mother and her friend, both 80, struggled with their luggage but once we were up, all was fine. I will definitely recommend this apartment to my friends, and I will stay there again. Remember: location, clean, huge, 1.5 baths, wifi, great price! Sorry we didn't get to meet Eli as she was out of town. Next time, Eli!
The morning of our departure, we were alerted that the apartment had been double booked. Strangely, we were the one's asked to give it up after several verification s of our arrival date and time.

With two hours until flight time, there was no other good option except to take an alternative apartment. The alternative place was far away from my business colleagues (yes only 1 km, but I had a broken leg) it was dark, looked out in to alley ways on all sides. The Born District is nice enough, BUT is not what I wanted nor paid for. Very disappointed.
Do you see how the price is listed as 2 euro? I think this is truly a bait and switch. If she get's a higher price for her place than she agreed with you, then she finds you something else that's empty the same week. The owner of the other place is just happy to have it filled, I suppose. Be cautious of this one. I have rented VRBO may times and this was by far the worst experience.
Our family of four had a wonderful time at Eli's beautiful, spacious, clean and well equipped apartment. The rooms are generous and tastefully furnished, the kitchen is perfect for cooking quick and simple meals, the french doors opening onto the Ramblas were always inviting us to just look out and observe.
Before we even arrived at the apartment Eli was the most helpful host imaginable. She always responded immediately to our inquiries, sent us very helpful information and links, even sent us several addresses for garages to park in, and took the time to have a real conversation with us when we arrived, including giving us interesting and valuable information on where to shop, where to eat, what to avoid etc. in Barcelona. Thank you, Eli!!
The location is fabulous, at night we could just walk to dinner anywhere, during the day walk to shopping at the beautiful market nearby, and the subway stop is 1 minute away ... it was easy to get anywhere we wanted to go to. We often returned to the apartment during the early afternoon to rest and recover from sightseeing before we headed out again, and the central location was perfect for that.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay, the place could not have been better, and we would definitely return if we have a chance to visit Barcelona again.
It has taken a bit for me to write this but the apartment was wonderful. It is so comfortable and centrally located..walking to the world famous market, along Las Ramblas or even to the beach was perfect for our family of 5. Our kids are big, so there was lots of space for them to relax and have some down time. I think the best thing was the character of the place though, or the advice/info we got about Barcelona. Our stay was wonderful!
