About Sara Stewart
I was brought up on a farm in Scotland just north of Edinburgh and moved to London in 1989. I worked for a gallery dealing in Scottish and Sporting Art until I opened my own gallery, Fine Art Commissions in 1997. Based in St. James's, London, FAC is principally an agency for portrait painters. I try and spend as much time as I can in Spain, but sadly it never seems to be more than six weeks a year. The attached photograph is of my mother and sister (I am in the middle).

Why Sara Stewart chose Competa
I spent Easter 2000 in Competa and fell in love with the area. As it rains a lot in Scotland I was keen to buy somewhere warm where my parents could escape to during the winter. I had a minimal budget and was only able to buy a run down bungalow. It was off a good, quiet road, which was vital for my parents who were by then in their late 70's and I needed to be sure that they had easy access and neighbours incase of illness etc. The house was a wreck when I bought it but the restoration has been an enjoyable labour of love. The project kept me working hard as every spare penny has been invested in my dream holiday home. I have one more plan and that is to extend the terrace, fingers crossed this will happen in 2014.
What makes this villa unique
The house is surrounded by fabulous views, is accessible, safe and has a lovely and peaceful atmosphere. My friends call it 'the rest cure'.
