The cottage sits 80ft above the shore and is within walking distance to Petit Manan Game Refuge. The main segment of the Refuge is adjacent to the property at the end of the driveway. Walk, bike or drive and park at the head of several trails to one of two bays formed by the peninsula. In late July, August and some Septembers, the blueberry barrens, maintained for wildlife by the refuge biologists, are bursting with wild berries free for handpicking. Enjoy bird watching, sometimes beaver, porcupine and deer watching, hiking trails or biking and take a lunch for a great picnic on the shores of this special peninsula in Downeast Maine.
Also, Pigeon Hill, the highest point on the shore between Acadia's Mt. Cadillac and Canada, is 3/4 mile from the cottage and offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding area including numerous Maine islands, the mountains of Acadia, bays and Petit Manan Peninsula itself. An easy hike on the spectacular trail to the diminutive 317 foot bald granite
summit welcomes you with a slight breeze!
Sailors can anchor in deep water out front and there is a boat landing just 1/2 mile up the street for sport fishermen and boaters. You could even anchor there and see your boat from the deck.
A short drive to the small coastal town of Milbridge offers Restaurants; Grocery Stores; A Medical Center; a Pharmacy and a Movie Theatre just to mention a few attractions.
