Rarely do rentals/hotels live up to my expectations, but this one definitely did. Hate to write a favorable review because I want to go back, and don't want it to book up, but have to do it! Can't think of anything I'd change, with the possible exception of a cantankerous middle leg on the queen bed frame (kept not supporting the bed, causing a sag in the middle--minor detail, easily fixed). Absolutely stunning views; great hiking; sweetly decorated "real" house, with just enough amenities for comfort, but not so many that it felt contrived; very fun barn, full of antiques, croquet gear, baseball bat, walking sticks and other thoughtful items--a great place to chill on a rainy day; and last, enough animals to make it all interesting and real. Best of all, the incredible porch--with a view up the hills, and bubbling water nearby, the best activity of all is just porch sitting. Also recommend a nice fire at night (preferably outside--there are two sites-- a stove and fire ring, but there is also an indoor wood-burning stove, for the adventurous soul who can figure out its vagaries--clear directions provided, though it seemed to have a mind of its own!). Probably not the best choice for wandering toddlers, with several ponds nearby, and given the sources of heat (electric radiators and/or stove--all hot exteriors), and if you're a clean freak, hey, its a farm, but otherwise, the most perfect vacation or event spot ever! And it goes without saying, how much I truly appreciate you welcoming my dog! Thank you so much, for that.
