Enjoy a nice, 3 bedroom, 2 bath furnished house in a quiet established neighborhood in a great location. Large yard with varied landscaping, redwood organic shaped deck, close to town, within walking distance to city parks & recreation center. Cortez is in a great location for visiting Mesa Verde, Durango, Monument Valley, Telluride, ancient ruins, mountains, canyons, hiking, rafting, skiing or whatever interests and activities you may want to pursue.

The house is artistic and calming, all one level with a French door opening out to the deck and yard. A great place for your destination, along your route or as a place to feel at home while you work in the area. All 3 bedrooms have comfortable beds and other furnishings to help you feel comfortable. 2 bedrooms have desks and one is set up as an office with wireless internet throughout. One bath is with the master bedroom, the other down the hall.

Kitchen is well equipped !

Colorful walls and furnishings with original artwork by the owner and from her travels all over the world make it artistic and calming.

One story for easy entry/exit.

Large backyard great for well-behaved dogs with approval and additional fee and deposit.

About Barbara Grist

A retired art teacher who has lived in the area for over 30 years. The 4 Corners is a special place with so many things to explore and discover. I am still enjoying exploring new places and seeing new things. I have had my own photography business I do part time and also show in galleries in the area. My house is full of my artwork, that of other artists and things from my travels around the world. I enjoy sharing my home and my experiences with others and will do my best to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable.

My property is in a great location in town as well as in the area. I chose this neighborhood because of it's mature trees, well kept houses and large lots while being in town. Cortez is a great place to explore in itself and also a great 'jumping off point' for experiencing the 4 Corners area and it's culture and diversity of people and landscape. I know you will find it interesting and convenient.

What makes this house unique

The nice, 1/2 acre yard, large established trees and landscaping, the colorful interior with a variety of artwork and artistic touches will make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. I particularly love my organic shaped redwood deck where you can sit & enjoy the hummingbirds, the flowers and serenity of a calm place while being close to many interesting and fun things to do.

Cortez is close to all that the Four Corners Area has to offer in this part of the Southwest. Mesa Verde National, Chaco Canyon, Hovenweep National Monument, the Canyon of the Ancients, Dolores River Canyon, Durango, and Monument Valley are to name a few that are 'day trips' from the rental. It is within 2 hours from Pagosa Springs, 1 hour from Telluride, and 2 hours to Moab and located within a 10 minutes to the Dolores River and within 90 miles of the San Juan River. Both of these rivers are 'world' class fly fishing venues. There is hunting also within 30 miles of the property. There are numerous 'single track' courses for the mountain bike enthusiasts including 'Phil's World'. The house is equal distance from Telluride Ski Resort and Durango Mountain Resort with lots of good cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing within as little as 30 minutes !

A great choice.

If you are looking for a place to stay while visiting the Four Corners area, this is a great choice. Plenty of space to relax, and a huge kitchen for preparing meals. Fairly easy to make a safe space for mobile baby, especially if you bring a Pack & Play. Easy to get to. Very convenient to Mesa Verde (less than 10 miles to entrance), and to Four Corners. Good farmer's market in town on Saturday morning. I would stay there again if I returned to the area.

Barb's house is a comfortable, quiet haven. I lived there for six months when I first moved to Cortez, and I enjoyed having a nice home instead of an apartment to live in while I looked for my own place. The house has all of the essentials with a great updated kitchen and spacious backyard and deck to enjoy the outdoors. Plus, you have a view of the LaPlata's and Mesa Verde from the front yard. Cortez is a small, high desert town with really nice city parks and rec. center, and it's a great jumping off point for just about any outdoor activity - biking, hiking, every type of skiing, birding, rock climbing, backpacking, camping, rafting, kayaking, wind sailing, RV'ing, ATV'ing, and of course some of the best fishing and hunting in Colorado, much less the U.S., not to mention a ton of gorgeous national parks and national forests within ten minutes to 3 hours driving distance away. Need I say more? Don't let this one get away!

Barbara is a very dear friend of mine that I have known for 35 years. She is really fun to be around, very organized, very talented, and well connected. She is an accommodating guest as well as host , I have stayed with her and she has stayed with me. We have traveled together, too. I think Barbara works well with all age groups. She has the ability to find common ground with everyone and she is interested in learning about new cultures, new ideas, etc. You would be lucky to have her stay at your home, or you to visit hers.

House reflects art and travels

Note, this is personal reference from a friend

I have been friends with Barbara for many years now, post-college, will not say how many and I can say that she is a great hostess, wonderful traveling companion, and a talented and creative photographer & artist, with no shortage of ideas about fun things to do and places to see. Her house reflects her art and travels and is convenient to Mesa Verde and the great outdoors of the Southwest and the mountains of southwest Colorado. We ourselves have had adventures in Todos Santos, Pagosa Springs, and Jackson Hole, and I look forward to new adventures, both planned and spur of the moment. One of our highlights was swimming with the whale sharks in Baja.

Comfortable Home Away from Home

This comfortable home away from home is well located and well furnished, no need to bring anything. A great back deck takes you out on to a grassy lawn with mature trees supplying cool shade in the summertime . pitch your hammock and while away the afternoon watching the humming birds. The location is exclusively residential in a quiet area . Short distance to shops and amenities , as well as local attractions.
