The apartment is in San Terenzo di Lerici, a serene small seaside village located on the south-side of the Gulf of La Spezia, also known as the Gulf of Poets. The apartment is located in a historic vernacular Ligurian palazzo in the center of town, a two minute walk to the sea,the marina and medieval castle, shops, and restaurants. Five can comfortably sleep in the spacious accommodations that include a large bedroom, a large living/dining space with fold out beds, a full bathroom, a full kitchen, and balcony looking out over a courtyard and garden. Past inhabitants drawn to this romantic coastal environment include Dante, Lord Byron, Shelley (whose house is just around the corner), D.H. Lawrence, Erza Pound, Pasolini, and many others. Each were influenced by the natural splendor of the gulf which is expressed in their artistic works. San Terenzo is also an excellent location for travel itineraries to the Cinque Terre and Portofino, and to Lucca, Pisa, and Florence in Tuscany.

There are sandy public beach areas along this stretch of coast. Local activities include walking, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, boating, sailing, swimming, sunbathing, horseback riding, golf, tennis, local cuisine and relaxtion. Seasonal ferry service is available in the small marina in San Terenzo and also in Lerici. La Spezia, the Palmaria Islands, Portovenere, the Cinque Terre and Portofino are easily accessible by ferry, bus, and train. There are several medieval local hilltowns very close to San Terenzo; Trebbiano, Arcola, Ameglia, Montemarcello, and La Serra. Several can be reached by walking. Also recommended is the Roman archeological excavations of Luni which includes the remains of the amphitheatre. The larger town of Sarzana and the city La Spezia offer upscale shopping and are easily accesable by local buses.
