Funchal Vacation Rental apartment

We spent a week in September in this apartment and were very pleased with it. The apartment is very spacious, very clean and well maintained and in a great location to explore the old and new town of Funchal. There is a hill up to the apartment but in comparison to the other hills on Madeira it could be described as flat!
We were met at the apartment by a very nice representive of the owner who was really helpful.

There was some traffic noise at night if you left the window open in the bedroom by the roundabout but it was not so bad that it kept you awake.We would deffinately recommend this apartment to friends and family as it is a good base for a group holiday.

There is plenty do do in Funchal but I think the Hire of a car for 1 or 2 days would have been beneficial. We did visit the Tropical Gardens by Cable Car and took a taxi to the Botanical Gardens. We also had afternoon tea at Reid's Palace Hotel.

Our favourite restaurant was O Jango in the Old Town. They served a good selection of dishes and very good fish.

This flat is a somewhat unusual choice being near the Old Town of Funchal. It is about 200 metres behind the Market and well away from the Hotel Area. However, it is very handy indeed for the restaurants in the Old Town and all of the centre of Funchal is in easy walking distance.
I took a (not very mobile) 82 year old witth me and he had no problems with the Flat at all as it is on one level and there is a lift.
The Flat was spotlessly clean.
One of our party complained of traffic noise from the roundabout pictured on the Flat details (which is immediately behind the Flat). It didn't bother me!
The kitchen is a little short of crockery, pots and pans. This could be a problem for visitors wanting to seelf-cater. I did mention this to the helpful agent Tina.
I would stay in this flat again as it is so central.

Very comfortable appartment indeed central, with bank, supermarket and bakery at 50m. distance. It's proximity to the market and the historical part is definetly the highest peak for all. We enjoyed a whole week of good meals at the typical restaurants listenning to some Fado on the zona velha. To those who don't bring a car it just couldn't get any better. Next year I'll be there again!
