Welcome to the Flagstaff Retreat luxury vacation Chalet! Located in one of Flagstaff's most prestigious neighborhoods, Continental Country Club, the chalet is perfect for a quick weekend getaway or an extended stay. Only 5 minutes from Historic Downtown Flagstaff, yet tucked away in a quiet, serene environment, you can't help but feel at home in this wonderful luxury chalet.

The Flagstaff Retreat features stunning Oak Hardwood flooring throughout a newly remodeled great room and open kitchen. Beautiful expanses of windows light up the entire house and provide breathtaking views of Mount Elden.

The gorgeous fully-equipped kitchen is outfitted with Granite Counters, a built in cutting block, beautiful knotty alder cabinetry, and a large island; making for easy meal preparation. The kitchen features stainless appliances, including double oven, side-by-side refrigerator with ice maker, built in microwave, french press, coffee maker, toaster, blender, dishwasher, and a full compliment of cooking utensiles and dishware. There is seating for five around the island for casual dining, as well a diningroom table that seats up to eight.

A large, inviting deck off the front of the house overlooks beautiful Mount Elden and is a great place to grill out, eat an evening meal or unwind after a busy day. A wonderful 6 person hot tub overlooks Mt Elden, and is a perfect place to relax those tense muscles after a day exploring Flagstaff.

Our chalet has a wonderful Master's Quarters with a California King bed, separate bathroom with full shower and bath tub, and an open air loft appointed with a full sized futon for an additional sleeping option. There are two guest bedrooms, one with a queen pillowtop bed, the other featuring two twin beds. If more beds are desired, there is a queen sized air mattress as well. The bedrooms are equipped with dressers, bed side tables, and a closet. The twin bedroom has a video game console and vcr, and the masters quarters has a television, DVD player, and plenty of movies to choose from.

Just minutes from I-17 and I-40, and surrounded by a variety of dining and shopping options, the chalet is the perfect home base for all of flagstaff's attractions. The Arizona Snowbowl is a quick half-hour drive, and offers world class skiing at a family friendly resort. Grand Canyon is an hour's drive north, providing some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.

Ask about booking private hiking or cycling trips, ski/snowboard lessons and rentals, cross country ski and snowshoe trips, advice on where to go sledding, as well as guided trips to the Grand Canyon or any of the dozens of Flagstaff area attractions.

About The Ridgecrest Luxury Vacation Chalet

Hello! Thanks for looking at the Flagstaff Retreat, my pride and joy! After leaving my 8 year career as a mechanical engineer in the medical products industry in the spring of 2011, I took on the monumental task of renovating this house in the hopes of creating Flagstaff's best vacation home. Over the course of several months I (with plenty of help!) completely remodeled this classic chalet, creating an entirely new kitchen, opening up the floorplan, and adding windows and skylights to let in the beautiful Flagstaff outdoors. Constructing the Flagstaff Retreat was a hard but rewarding project, and now that I'm able to share it with so many people it keeps getting better. I absolutely love being able to help my guests plan the perfect vacation, and can't think of a better job to have!

When I'm not booking stays or meeting my guests as they arrive, I spend as much of my time as I can outdoors! I grew up on the coast of Maine where I learned to appreciate nature's beauty, and nowhere is better than Flagstaff to experience it. I love to mountain bike, hike, camp, and most of all ski/snowboard! There isn't a season I don't love here in Flagstaff, and I always look forward to the change in weather as that means that I get to change activities along with it!

Flagstaff is a wonderful town with so many things to see and do, it is a natural playground for any outdoor enthusiast. There is also so much history here, with all of the Rt 66 attractions, and ancient native american sites. I think Flagstaff has the best scenery, friendliest atmosphere, and healthiest lifestyle of anyplace I've lived...what more could you ask for?

What makes this cabin unique

I absolutely love staying at the chalet for so many reasons. Even though I live in Flagstaff full-time, I typically choose to stay at the Flagstaff Retreat whenever it's available. I love the peace and quiet it offers, and think there is nothing better than sitting on the couch with a fire burning in the fireplace watching the snow come down outside.

I love being so close to everything, yet having the serenity that the chalet offers. It is wonderful spending a night in Flagstaff's bustling downtown and within minutes coming home to complete peace and quiet.

Waking up in the morning and riding my bike to the Campbell Mesa trail head without ever having to get in a car is my favorite way to start the day. The trails are beautiful, and there is so much wildlife to see. The views overlooking Walnut Canyon are incredible, with elk, deer, and birds along the way.

The chalet is perfectly set up for a relaxing, comfortable visit. The large windows and sky lights ensured a light, airy feel to the place and the amenities were more than adequate with a kitchen well supplied with everything needed to be able to cook a homemade meal. Comfy beds and an amazing fireplace added to the enjoyment. Will definitely book again..next time when it's snowing which would just add to the experience !

Location, Location, Location!

This proved to be the perfect location and property for our recent visit to Northern Arizona. We were looking for something within driving distance of our home in Colorado. We needed the comforts of home as my husband would be doing some remote commuting (high speed internet was essential) and we planned to prepare most of our meals within the home. Additionally, we were wanting something that would allow us to explore the various attractions such as Sedona, and The Grand Canyon as day trips. Finally, we needed something spacious enough to allow for our multi-generational family (ages ranged from 13-80) to all stay together and with a kitchen large enough to allow for us to enjoy our meals at home (vs. eating out). Staying at this lovely home, provided for all our needs at a price that fit our family budget.

Everything in the property is exactly as pictured! John proved to be an extremely responsive owner. Please note that initially I submitted an online request for information through VRBO. When I didn't hear anything back, I called John on the phone number listed. He returned my call within the hour and we discovered the email I initially sent was never received. So, if you don't hear from him in a very quick fashion, please follow through with a phone call or second email attempt as he is indeed a very responsive owner.

My family notes that I can be a harsh critic, but seriously, there was nothing with this transaction to fuss about. The property was perfect, the interactions with the owner were timely and professional and if you are looking for a central location to explore the wonderful things to see in this part of Arizona, you will not be disappointed with your stay at this lovely property!

We had a dream-come-true experience going to the Grand Canyon as a family. As opposed to staying in separate little rooms closer to the Grand Canyon, , we choose to rent a home to have more family time. We were blessed with this beautiful home which was clean and welcoming, had an amazing, well-stocked kitchen, and spacious great room. The three bedrooms accommodated our family of six very well. John, the owner, was very kind and easy to communicate with via email and live phone calls. He went out of his way to meet our need for a shower chair for a disabled family member. Two thumbs up on this wonderful home!

Cannot speak highly enough about this great property and its professional owner. The house was well decorated, clean and perfect for our family (4 adults, 2 children, 1 dog).
