Bocas del Toro House Rental Photos and Description

Private Beach House, Sleeps 10, wireless internet

Casa de K is a bright, spacious, and airy 2000+ sq ft home built on a 1/2 acre. It is the perfect home for large or small groups (accommodates up to 10 people). There is wireless internet. On the main floor (2nd level) there is a Master Suite (with a/c, balcony access, ocean view and a private bathroom) and a Junior Suite (with a/c, jungle views and a shared bathroom). The third floor is lofted (with two double beds). The ground floor (1st level) has two rooms each with a set of bunk beds and a bathroom. There is hot water available throughout the house. There is a large storage area for all your gear, as well as a washer and dryer.

The house offers a relaxed living area with plenty of sitting room for all, as well as a large balcony with majestic ocean and island views. There is also a small balcony in the back to enjoy the alluring jungle scene. While sitting on the balconies, one can be serenaded by the ocean waves and jungle noises (birds, howler monkeys, tree frogs, etc).

The balconies are perfect spots for enjoying the surrounding landscape filled with tropical foliage (plants, flowers and fruit trees) which draws a variety of tropical birds. Grab a coffee mug and snuggle up for sunrise.

The house is located in a peaceful setting three miles outside of town, and is close enough to easily enjoy the local charm of Bocas Town. There are three full service restaurants close to the house, and many more just minutes away by taxi. It is a pleasant, culture immersing 45-60 minute walk to the center of Bocas Town.

This home offers a spacious, comfortable and relaxing location to hang out, but also provides a secure home base while you explore all the area has to offer - exploring Isla Colon and surrounding islands: hiking, swimming, boogie boarding, surfing, taking a catamaran tour, snorkeling/diving, sampling local cuisine, shopping, taking Spanish lessons, going on a tour of the Botanical Garden, viewing wildlife, fishing, horseback riding, looking for shells, etc.

Upon arrival in Bocas del Toro, property management staff can help arrange taxis for transportation and grocery shopping, as well as tours, and any other services you may be interested in.

This house is perfect for those who want to kick back and relax in a place where the untouched tropical rain forest meets the crystal blue waters of Caribbean.

About Kristin Bacon

Hola! My name is Kristin Bacon. I am a 15 year Alaskan resident who needs her soul kissed by the tropical sun and surf on a regular basis. I instantly felt as though I was at my second home when I arrived to Bocas del Toro the first time. Currently, I own a pediatric therapy business in Alaska, as well as a sled dog kennel. For me, Bocas Town and this house offer the right combination of simplicity, relaxation, nature, culture and adventure.

Kristin Bacon purchased this house in 2009

Why Kristin Bacon chose Bocas del Toro

I chose this property because of its peaceful location and quality construction, as well as the sound/view of the ocean waves and easy access to surfing. These features made this property ideal to me. I also love the wildlife that can be seen and heard around the house.

What makes this house unique

I love the tranquility this home offers!! Casa de K's private location allows me to simply enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean, tropical foliage and variety of wildlife. And, as a surfer this property is hard to beat. Additionally, there is easy access to all that Bocas has to offer -- cultural diversity, water sports, many restaurants, shopping, adventures, Spanish classes, yoga, organized tours, etc.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Amazing stay!

  • 4 of 5

To begin, we were happily greeted by a very nice couple at the airport. They took us by car to get our golf cart rental, which we highly recommend renting while staying at Casa K. We loved it! Great for exploring! From there they let us follow them to the house. Be sure to wear your seatbelt and follow all driving laws! When we arrived at the house, it was better than described. The sound of the ocean waves crashing was unbelievable. We sat on the front porch and just took in the sight and sounds of the crashing waves. Our stay was very comfortable and Tyson was available and prompt in answering our emails and calls. The house provided a house cell phone with all necessary numbers stored in the phone which was great! This house is in an awesome neighborhood. There were 2 restaurant options in the area. The Paki Point Restaurant a few doors down, was an incredible place to eat and drink in the neighborhood. As well as an outdoor evening pizza place. I bit further down the road is bluff beach which has some restaurants and places on the beach to eat and drink as well. Overall, our stay was amazing! Kristen, the owner, was a great about everything. She answered all my questions and full filed all our requests. We would love to stay here again! Thanks!

Great family trip

  • 4 of 5

Our family just returned from Panama, and stayed at this rental for 1 week.

(2 adults, 3 kids ages 14, 12, and 9)

The house was overall better than we expected, with even more space than we needed.

Everything you need is there, and the A.C. in the house works great on the hotter days.

The ocean view deck was a big highlight. Relaxing in the hammocks, enjoying the incredible views was hard to beat.

Also, the management was extremely helpful and professional at arrival, and when we had occasional questions.

The house is in a great spot, as it is close enough to town, but far enough away to be much more relaxed than places in town.

Getting around in Bocas del Toro was different than we expected, so renting a golf cart is highly recommended.

Taxis are everywhere, so that's an option too, as well as renting a bicycle.

There is also a nice restaurant/bar(Paki Point) 100 yards down the road that serves good food and drinks.

We visited during the rainy season, but were pleasantly surprised it only rained "bad" for 2 of our 12 days. Most nights were rainy, but that was not a problem at all.

The thunder and lightning storms some evenings were exciting too.

The clouds were also a bit of a bonus, as they help keep the heat down some.

We didn't get to see the Monkeys, as they were hiding out from the rain mostly, but we did get to hear them a few times.

If you enjoy the rainforest while being nearly ocean front, and outside of the heart of town, you will enjoy this rental.

Be sure to rent ATV's from Flying Pirates, a really fun way to explore the area.

We hope to return soon !

It was different than we expected!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first time to Panama and we traveled all over starting with Bocas Del Toro. We are a family with (2) 25 year old Son's and a 13 year old daughter and we are in our mid 40's. Bocas was not at all what we expected and all 3 of the kids were ready to leave within the first 2 days. (We did leave a day early) If you do NOT party and don't surf then this is not the place for you. It rained every day, almost all day. The ocean in front of the house is completely unusable as it serves as a road to other towns and can not be swam in due to the waves and rocks. We did go to Star Fish Beach (Cold, cloudy, pouring rain) but it was neat for the kids to see the starfish. On another day, we did go to Bibi's on one of the other island to eat and found out when we got there that eating was the only thing to do over there! Again, snorkeling, surfing and parting seem to be the extent of the activities all over the island and surrounding islands. The Manager Tyson is a great guy and he tried to give us as much information and was very accommodating. The home is what I expected and no real complaints other than mosquitoes are horrible! (Maybe it was all the rain!) We did not leave any doors open and kept the air on in the bedrooms which we were told in the beginning would keep them out. It didn't, one night before bed we killed 48 mosquitoes on the walls in the bedroom downstairs. We were also disappointed as we seen NO wildlife or even heard them (No tropical birds, monkeys, sloth's/NOTHING) so if your looking for nature this is also not the place. We rode the Golf Cart all the way to the end of the road to Playa Bluff (a good hour on the golf cart and still seen no nature) Also went to the opposite side by Golf Cart to Playa Boca del Drago which was a couple hours by Golf Cart hoping to see nature and STILL nothing. We went to Pedasi on the opposite coast and they were in abundance there. Having traveled all over Panama I can tell you that Bocas feels like a Country different than Panama itself- Different people, different vibe, different weather and very trashy. Overall, it was just not the place we had though it would be and would not return to Bocas in the future.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry to hear your trip to Bocas del Toro was disappointing, but it's good to hear my house was what you expected. I try to give renters an accurate idea of the house through photos and descriptions. Bocas del Toro is known for being rainy, especially in July. I also visited this July for two weeks. It did rain nearly every day, but I saw a fair amount of sun as well. I felt the cloudiness helped maintain a very pleasant temperature throughout the day. And during the rainy times, I enjoyed myself by reading in a hammock, walking on the beach with an umbrella, drinking coffee on the deck, watching the waves crash, and watching the birds dart around in the wind and rain. It is nice you can be outside on the decks without getting rained on. I do recommend you bring a few travel umbrellas. They are quite handy to keep in your day pack in case you find yourself in a sudden downpour. Regarding the mosquitos, I felt they were very minimal this trip both in the house and around town. I did, however, find several screens in the main house that needed repaired. I fixed them during my stay. I'm sad for your group, and honestly, shocked that you didn't see any wildlife. Wildlife is one of the reasons I LOVE the location of my home. Every time I visit I see an abundance of tropical birds and shorebirds, as well as a variety of other critters: large toads, an assortment of crabs, geckos, tree frogs, turtles... AND the howler monkeys! The howler monkeys are always a highlight! During much of my stay this July, they were visible from my back deck. They were even in the trees in the back yard: mamas, papas and babies. Although I cannot always see them, many times I can hear them from the house around 6 am and in the late afternoon. I also saw sloths for the first time this trip. There were three sloths that were unusually active in close proximity to Red Frog Beach. I'm back in Alaska now, but have a heart filled with tropical sites and sounds. I hope your next adventure will do the same for you. Take care, Kristin

I cannot recommend this property enough. I truly left a piece of me in Bocas. The house was simple yet beautiful. Perfect for a family or small group. There were 6 adults in our travel pack and it was perfect. Beautiful views, wonderful surf, and wildlife all right there. I cannot wait to go back!!

Such an amazing experience. We stayed here as 2 couples and another adult. There was plenty of space and we loved the location. We had absolutely no complaints and look forward to coming back. The whole Bocas area is incredible and we loved this house. Getting set up once we landed was super smooth, and having a cell phone provided to call our main taxi contact made everything very easy. We highly recommend renting ATV's as well. The house is in a great spot to explore the island from on those. It's also walking distance to a chill restaurant/bar, as well as great surf breaks in the "front yard". Cab rides into town were short and cheap also. We cooked a few meals in the house without a problem, but it was fun to go out at night in Bocas Town.

We wish we were still there!

Just as Advertised. Right on the beach!

  • 4 of 5

We recently spent 10 days here and enjoyed our stay immensely. Bocas is our favorite spot for vacationing and we come at l least once a year. We find the area of Big Creek the best place for us, but this year we stayed in Paunch. Just far enough out of town to where you feel the jungle and yet close enough to town to make dinners there enjoyable. We were 3 adults and 3 children. We had more than enough space, with the kids in the loft and the adults in the 2 bedrooms. There were spare rooms downstairs too. Tyson, the property manager was exceptionally helpful: knowledgeable, spanish speaking, and accurate with his recommendations. The house itself is just as advertised. The owner had recently refinished the floor as well as added some additional railing to the balcony. The house kept us reasonably cool and the appliances were all in working order. The back door drags on the floor a bit. There was a safe for our valuables. Our neighbors were cool and we enjoyed their chickens and puppies that would escape every day. Overall a very nice stay!

Large, locking storage area (bodega), hot water throughout the house, alarm system, two large water storage tanks to ensure plenty of water for bathing, dishes, etc. There is a surf break in front of the house (TigerTail), as well as several others within walking distance (Paunch, Dumpers, Bluff) from the house. If one was staying in town, it would require a 3 mile walk, a taxi or water taxi to bring you out to these breaks. This is a HUGE advantage to surfers! (direct assessment of swell, convenient access, secure storage area for your boards) These breaks are the most popular surfing spots in Bocas. Some of the tropical birds seen on this property are the Keel-Billed Toucan, Montezuma Oropendola, Kiskadee, etc. More photos and updates are available on FACEBOOK: Casa de K
