Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a perfect location when staying in Nice! The flat is very well maintained and beautifully decorated! Upon our arrival we were greeted and informed about the flat and the best places to check out! The flat is located just minutes from a bakery, the market, pubs and the beach! We really enjoyed getting ideas of what others did on their stay by reading the visitors diary! We are already planning our next trip to Nice and look forward to staying at this flat again!

Citybreak by the sea

  • 4 of 5
This attractive pied-a-terre is ideal for exploring Nice and its environs. It is very convenient for strolls along the Promenade des Anglais, for daily shopping, taking buses and trams, walking to most of the important sights in the city, and dining out at night.
The apartment is modern, bright and well-equipped and almost perfect. But sleeping arrangements will not suit everyone as the so-called mezzanine "bedroom" is accessed by a very steep ladder and the headroom is less than 50cms. when you are lying on the mattress. Two large beams across the ceiling add to the sense of claustrophobia.
The pull-out sofabed works fine but we had not expected to have to make our bed up every evening and this was a disappointment. Party all night and you won't have any problems.

As advertised - ideal spot!

  • 5 of 5
Apartment is exactly as described in the listing (which is very thorough and concise). Email communication with Anne during booking process was the same - quick and very informative replays. Alexandra was also great - absolutely charming, making you feel right at home upon arrival while answering any remaining questions. With great location and for a reasonable price, it is simply hard to ask for anything more. Yes, this area of Nice is a lively place late at night, but when you finally want to opt out, I can vouch that the double windows perform superb job reducing the noise to absolute minimum. I can imagine the mezzanine sleeping platform could be a problem for some (ladder-type access, low headroom) - it wasn't for us, 40-ish and otherwise average persons. The retractable sofa-bed is available as an alternative. Highly recommended - thank you Anne and Alexandra for your hospitality! Anna and Kris

Great location, it about it

  • 2 of 5
The apartment is in a great location, very close to the Cours Saleya and great restaurant. 5 minutes from the beach and Promenade des Anglais. Next to the apartment the is a great bakery and an Ice cream parlor. Alexandra, was very helpful on our arrival. The apartment itself has a fully equipped kitchen, a lounging area and a table with 4 chairs. The WIFI works very well. Very safe area. No for the not so good... We had issues with the bedroom which is in a loft. Very narrow stairs to go up and no more then 4ft between the bed and ceiling. The pillows/ pillow case and the bedding smelled musty. The washing machine did not work. It was not fixed while we were there ( 3 nights ) Alexandra replaced the pillow cases and bedding. The pillows were not replace. We had to sleep with the sofa pillows. The bed is on the floor and is no more then 8 to 10 thick. Not comfy at all. I would suggest to replace the upstair carpet and replace the bed and bedding. By the way you cannot sleep with the windows open as it is a very noisy area until 0200 am. Will return to Nice but will not recommend this apartment until changes have happened. To bad as it is a great location.

Owner's Response: As our ad says, this Studio apartment is right in the heart of Old Town, Nice just a few steps from the beach, restaurants, pubs, bakeries and the famous Cours Saleya market. It is difficult to imagine how anyone could decide to stay in a central location such as this without expecting a certain level of street noise and activity which is all part of the atmosphere of the Old Town. Unfortunately, there was an issue regarding the Service Charge which was due on arrival at the apartment to cover meet and greet, linen, towels and cleaning at the end of each rental. That information is on the website and is also clearly stated in writing on several occasions throughout the booking process. \Therefore, our Representative was very surprised when these guests said they were not aware that they had to pay anything on arrival. She suggested they check their booking details and pay her when she came to check them out. They called her the next morning acknowledging they had actually been told about the Service Charge but complained of a musty smell from the linen and said the washing machine wasn't working. She told them the linen had been freshly laundered the day before but apologized and went to the apartment without delay with another set of freshly laundered linen and changed the bed. They were out but she checked the w/machine and texted them to say it was working but just to make sure the door is properly closed. Our Representative assures us that she didn't detect a musty smell from any of the linen, pillows or mattress and that no such complaints were made by guests before or after this rental. The carpet in the mezzanine is fine and contrary to the comments in the review, she did give these guests two different pillows which she took from the linen cupboard. The washing machine was in perfect working order throughout their stay and was used immediately before and after this rental. It is neither a bedroom nor a loft but most guests find the double mattress on the mezzanine platform quite cozy and comfortable despite the restricted head room and narrow steps, however, for those who do have reservations, a comfortable double sofa bed is also available in the living area. The vibrancy and sounds of the Old Town are enjoyed by many but if that's not for you, closing the double glazed windows and switching on the very effective ceiling fan is all that is required. When these guests did pay the Service Charge, they left the Representative 30 euro short.

One of the best holidays ever!

  • 5 of 5
Came here with my husband for a week. Great holiday, loved the apartment, it was very clean, traditional and cosy, smack bang in the centre of Nice, close to everything. The agent Alexandra Jones whom we met on our arrival was very friendly and welcoming, plus we got a free bottle of wine! You'll love the old town; it's full of old narrow streets with lots of quaint shops, galleries, markets and museums plus the beach is only a stone throw away. Nice is so vibrant and the atmosphere is electric you won't want to leave it.
Restaurants are a little on the expensive side but you can cook your own food, there are bars everywhere. Take the white train to the castle hill, it's worth it just to see the amazing views. We really enjoyed the holiday, it was very warm, lots to see and do, and an ideal base for exploring Monaco, Monte Carlo etc.

Owner's Response: Hi Donal and Lorraine. So glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time in Nice and that the apartment was to your liking. As you mentioned, our very friendly and helpful agent in Nice, Alexandra, looks after the apartment and the checking in/out of the guests so it is always nice to hear that everything was in order. It certainly was a pleasure to do business with you and we really do appreciate you taking the time to post the lovely review. Hopefully we can accommodate you again in the not too distant future. Kind regards, Anne.

Nice Apartment Vieille Ville

  • 5 of 5
We had an absolutely brilliant fortnight at the apartment and would recommend it in a shot to anyone who wants to go to this beautiful city. The apartment has everything that you need in a base for exploration - the fans keep you cool and the double glazing keeps any noise out when you want to - alternatively, you can have the windows open and let all the sounds of the Old Town in. We had reservations about the mezzanine but it was fine (even with my claustrophobic husband!). It is also ideally placed for setting out to discover the city or go to the beach (which is pebbly rather than sandy and so means that while you need appropriate footwear, you don't carry the beach home with you) and though on the second floor, there are not too many stairs to negotiate. The owner, Katherine, very kindly supplied us with a bottle of wine but even more importantly, small things such as milk, tea, washing up liquid and loo roll, which is so useful if you haven't yet visited the supermarket and she is always contactable if you need any advice. The city has a vast array of museums, shops of all kinds and the Old Town is wonderful. The tram costs a Euro and runs every few mins through the city, buses are plentiful and go everywhere and the train fares are affordable - the Carte Isabelle ticket that is available at Nice Ville station lets you have unlimited travel all along the coast for 12 Euros. Restaurants range from the very expensive to the very reasonable if you are on a budget as we were and quite frankly, Nice is our favourite European city - Paris and Barcelona notwithstanding - so we heartily recommend both the apartment, which is so reasonably priced and well appointed and the city to anyone thinking about the Cote d' Azur. Cannes, Monaco and Antibes are great for a visit but we would always come back to Nice. It's got the lot!

Excellent - would definitely stay again!

  • 5 of 5
This apartment is lovely and in an unbeatable location above the flower market where delicious fresh food and produce is sold, and where there are excellent restaurants! The apartrment was clean and had everything you would need, including mats for the pebbly beach and a coffee machine. We were greeted on arrival with a bottle of wine in the fridge and our stay in Nice was made unforgettable by the proximity to the market and the beach! Would definitely stay again.

Old town NIce. 2 minutes walk to the beach and 10 minutes walk to Nice port.

The Cours Saleya flower market is only 50m away and holds an antiques market every Monday morning.

The Cote D'Azur was always the favourite resort of the English, Russian & European aristocracy and bourgeoisie, thanks to its mild sunny winters and glorious summers and its allure remains in spite of some modern changes. Nice, its vibrant capital, reflects this fascinating past with its wonderful and variegated turn-of-the-century architecture, Belle Epoque buildings and tree-lined avenues and boulevards with public gardens ablaze with tropical flowers, plants & trees. The French Riviera offers a multitude of sights to see and things to do: opera, museums & art galleries, world-renowned casinos, open-air films and concerts. Its world famous art galleries house collections which include Matisse, Chagall and Picasso. The coastal and surrounding hill/mountain scenery with its myriad of hilltop villages, is stunning. Nice is wonderful for a holiday at any time of the year. The Carnival is on during February, the Grand Prix is on in Monaco in May and the lights and decorations on the promenade over Christmas and New Year are just amazing.
