The French Quarter, also known as the Vieux Carré, is the oldest neighborhood in the city of New Orleans. When New Orleans (La Nouvelle-Orléans in French) was founded in 1718 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville, the city was originally centered on the French Quarter, or the Vieux Carré ('Old Square' in French) as it was known then. While the area is still referred to as the Vieux Carré by some, it is more commonly known as the French Quarter today, or simply 'The Quarter.'[1] The district as a whole is a National Historic Landmark, and contains numerous individual historic buildings. It was affected relatively lightly by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, as compared to other areas of the city and the greater region. The neighborhood contains many restaurants, ranging from formal to casual, patronized by both visitors and locals. Some are well known landmarks, such as Antoine's and Tujague's, which have been in business since the 19th century; Arnaud's, Galatoire's, Broussard's, and Brennan's are only slightly less venerable. Less historic—but also well-known—French Quarter restaurants include those run by chefs Paul Prudhomme ('K-Paul's'), Emeril Lagasse ('NOLA'), and John Besh. Port of Call on Esplanade Avenue has also been in business for more than 30 years and is recognized for its popular Monsoon drinks.

Great retreat to call home

The condo was a fantastic place to relax in after a long day at Jazz Fest and it far exceeded my expectations. It was a great location and Tyrone was there waiting to let me in when I arrived. The beds were great quality, bathrooms modern and clean, and there is really nothing that I can complain about. Well except for the door locking system is a bit complicated to learn and often took us some time to figure out how to get in and sometimes longer to lock the door to leave. But that was a small inconvenience for such a great pad.

The condo was immaculate! Great beds - so comfortable, and the condo layout and furnishings were very nice. Everything we needed was already there -- coffee, wine, beer, bottled water, even a great selection of snacks! Bathrooms had shampoo, lotions, even toothpaste! Condo was in a great location, convenient to everything and we walked everywhere. The owners were so helpful with anything we needed. Would highly recommend to anyone!

I met some friends in New Orleans for New Years and we had a great stay at the condo. Plenty of space and everything was really nice! The fridge was stocked and everything was really clean. I can't recommend this place enough! I'd definitely stay there again when I am in town.

Our wonderful NOLA Holiday visit

What a wonderful place Tyrone and Jenny have here in the French Quarter. Close by everything, with all the bars and clubs it is also quite a busy neighborhood. First of all the place is much larger than we expected. The photos don't quite do it justice. There was more than enough room for the 5 of us. With the exception of a minor glitch getting in, Tyrone's Mom Juliet was incredibly helpful, everything was perfect. One thing to be aware of, because it is a very busy neighborhood the front room can get a bit noisy but not in a bad way. The nice thing is that when you go back to the bedrooms, the noise is gone and you can sleep in quiet comfort. If you're going to spend a week or more in NOLA, this is a great place from which to base your operations. Too bad it's booked during French Quarter Fest, when we return next

Gathering of friends from CO and FL

Location, location, location, the condo was perfect walking distance to just about everything. Could sit in the living room and hear the House of Blues concert at a comfortable level, but perfectly quiet in the bedrooms. The group I was with fell in love with the place and the city. Perfect size place for a group of 4 or 2 couples. Everything was perfectly maintained and condo was immaculate upon arrival.

Getting to local restaurants, cafes, bars would only involve 10-15 minutes walking for the furthest places in the French Quarter. Most places being much closer. Cab rides to the Garden District don't take long (15 mins) and definitely worth the trip. Whether sight seeing, cutting loose, or being a "foodie" you'll be near it all here.

The group is definitely looking forward to a return trip, and absolutely loved staying at this condo and hoping its available again. Can't thank the Tyrone and his family enough for the wonderful stay.
