This is the main center of the Marais. A lively neighborhood with a lifestyle scene as well as lots of bars, shops, and restaurants.

Opposite l'Hotel de Ville (townhall), are the two islands of Paris, l'Ile de la Cite and l'Ile St-Louis: don't miss Notre-Dame and Place Dauphine on the former, and a walk in the main street of the latter. Place des Vosges is one of Paris's most famous plaza and finally, the main focus for contemporary art in France is also in this part of town, at the Beaubourg/Pompidou Centre.

Very Special in every way

We were two couples spending five nights in Paris. We had never stayed in the Marais before and are now smitten! The area is amazing and so fun with great restaurants, art galleries and art shows going on all the time and great shopping in small boutiques. The apartment was perfect for us. We travel well together and it was nice to have the flexibility of gathering in the living room to plot and plan our excursions, have breakfast and an aperitif before going out to dinner. (Warning: make reservations to have the restaurant of your choice!) We were also pleasantly surprised to have a washing machine! There were only two downsides to the apartment. First was only one set of keys for two couples and second was that the apartment was dusty with no vacuum cleaner for us to pick up the dust bunnies. The kitchen, baths and beds were all clean but the floors were not. Please, get a better cleaning service and this will be a 5 star! Yes, we will go back and we will recommend it to anyone who loves to visit Paris. And lastly: the agent is not flexible so be sure about your dates. They would not adjust the contract when our stay was shortened by a day.
