Nestled in the heart of McKinley Park is our urban cabin. Although certainly more of a charming cottage than a cabin, this oasis offers the perfect retreat to enjoy all that downtown Sacramento has to offer, but within beautiful tree-lined streets of a neighborhood village. The neighborhood is a mixture of bungalows and Tudor, Craftsman and Mediterranean Revival-style houses built in the '20s, '30s and '40s.
If the perfect location is what you are looking for, you have found your destination! We're only minutes away from the State Capitol, Convention Center, Old Sacramento, Crocker Art Museum and all that downtown Sacramento has to offer. Also with close access to Highway 50 and Interstate 80, Napa, Tahoe and the Gold Rush Country are just a one hour drive away. You may discover you just want to park the car in our private driveway and enjoy the surrounding area.
Residents of the neighborhood usually walk or bike to the area's many independent restaurants, cafes and retailers; and midtown, also full of wonderful restaurants and many art galleries, is just a short stroll away. The 2nd Saturday art walk is a wonderful opportunity to discover all this and more.
We are fortunate to be located only a block away from the beautiful 32 acre McKinley Park. Developed in the 1920's, this historic park is home to a library, duck pond, rose garden(where many weddings have taken place), a garden and arts center, tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, a swimming pool, picnic areas and a 1.1 mile running track. (Back in the '90s, then President Bill Clinton famously jogged on the track during a trip to Sacramento) Many community events are held in the park as well including a weekly farmers market and free yoga classes under the trees.
Our cottage comfortably sleeps 6. There are three separate sleeping areas. The front room has a queen sofa sleeper and is also the den designed for your entertainment. The rear bedroom has two full size twin beds and the master bedroom has a pillow top queen bed made up with luxurious linens for your comfort. All rooms have spacious closets and are well appointed to make our guests feel right at home. For those business travelers wireless internet is also provided.
A large farm style dining room table is located off the kitchen and comfortably sits 8. For your morning cup of coffee or a quick lunch there is a bright sunny nook that allows for some quiet time. With views of the private back patio and garden, this may become one of your favorite spots. A beautiful vintage O'Keefe and Merit stove adds to the character of this charming home. Our warm Sacramento evenings lends itself to cooking outback and dining on the patio also.
The front living room with its big windows overlooking the front porch is the perfect place to plan the days activities, re-group after a day of site seeing or relax and enjoy a good book from our collection. Centered around a wood burning fireplace this warm and cozy room is the focal point of the home.

My husband and I have lived in the Sacramento area for over 20 years. We have always been drawn to this area as it is truly one of the most unique areas in Sacramento. With its canopy of trees and narrow streets and beautiful architectural features you can't help but want to walk everywhere. We love the different way of life...parking our car and walking to cafes, shops and dinner in the evenings. We hope you will enjoy our urban cabin as much as we do!
