Wicked was custom built as a classic Maine 'camp.' The interior of the house is entirely pine and the outside is covered with cedar shakes. Situated on the southern shore of Frye Island at the end of a cul-de-sac of upscale homes, Wicked is nestled among the trees on an acre of land with over 200 feet of waterfront and expansive views across Sebago Lake.
Wicked has four bedrooms which accommodate eight guests comfortably. There is a master bedroom with queen bed, walk in closet and private bath on the first floor that opens to the lakeside deck. On the second floor, there are two large bedrooms, each with two twin beds and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds. The second floor bedrooms share a full bath. The bedrooms on both floors have ceiling fans.
On the first floor there is a living area with a vaulted ceiling, with stereo and satellite television, that opens to a lakeside deck. The kitchen has modern appliances, a large walk-in pantry, and counter with seating for two. There is also a dining table that seats six. Like the living area, the kitchen/dining area open to a lakeside deck. Off the dining area, there is a lovely sun room with windows on four sides with a vaulted ceiling, with wicker upholstered furniture and an additional dining area for four. There is a powder room and laundry on the first floor.
The second floor has an open loft that looks down into the living area, with a desk, printer and wireless internet access.
A large deck, with a gas barbecue grill and additional dining space, spans the entire length of the back of the house (lakeside) for outdoor living and entertaining.
There is a deep water dock with a platform large enough for sunbathing and reading. A mooring for your boat is also available offshore. A shoreline retreat of four chairs and side tables is available to sit, relax and listen to the sounds of the lake and the cry of the loon.
Frye Island offers a great life style with 22 miles of roads for walking or jogging. There are multiple public beaches, a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, basketball courts, play ground, community center, swimming pool, café/bar, general store, town office, post office, and ball field/park. There is a private marina with in-water boat docking for property owners on the Island; some slips are available for weekly rental for visitors and renters staying on the Island.
The island is open from the last week of April to the first week of November. The residents range from young families to retirees.
Frye Island is located in Sebago Lake approximately 25 miles west of Portland, Maine. There are two ferries that provide transportation to and from the Island and Raymond, Maine on a scheduled basis. The trip takes about ten minutes. The Island is easy to find, just head towards Raymond, Maine on State Route 302.
A popular place on the Island for both Islanders and boaters on Sebago Lake is Frye's Leap General Store and Cafe. There is also a cocktail lounge at the club house at the golf course.
Wicked, Frye Island and Maine, 'the way life should be.'
This was a lovely cottage, set back a bit from the waterfront, but an easy stroll to the dock. (We were here in August, plenty of blueberry bushes on the property.) The cottage is beautifully decorated, providing lots of private space as well as family space. We had a couple of folks needing to stay 'connected', which worked easily, and the cottage provided for lots of separate space where you could conduct phone calls, check emails, without ever losing a view of the lake. The cottage was VERY clean, well appointed. We brought a couple of favorite pans and casserole bowls, but we never needed to use any of it. Plenty of good glassware, etc.
The owners went out of their way to accommodate and fix anything that went awry. They have a dedicated maintenance man, who was terrific. I would definitely recommend this property; from our observation, one of the best rentals on the island! We would definitely recommend this and/or come again ourselves.
First...Michelle was wonderful! So efficient, so knowledgable, and so nice, I almost wanted to bring her along for my vacation! Wicked (named, I'm sure, after the smash Broadway Musical!), was incredible! Just minutes from the little General Store in "town", and only steps from the lake! Bring you canoe or kayak! Bring your fishing poles (not my thing...but have at it!) Grill out, or cook a fancy dinner in! Eat in my favorite room! It's like a little light house attached to the house (without the light, of course)! Watch TV! Read! It's so quiet here, I literally lost all track of time, and was able to actually relax!!!
Also important...laundry! The washer/dryer is great! Lots of bathrooms...you could come with several people...or alone! The master bedroom has it's own bathroom...and opens onto the deck!
I cannot say enough good things about my time here! In short, the area is so beautiful, and the house so grand...your only issue will be deciding whether or not to go outdoors, or stay inside.
I have had the pleasure of vacationing at this home for 2 years now and I crave its peaceful surroundings all year long. The views here are so fabulous that I have photographed them to hang in my own home, so that I am reminded of their serentiy when I need it most. The house is beautifully kept and Frye Island is just such a unique place to visit. From the ferry ride, to the rocky beaches, my favorite local shops, and the beautiful birch trees. Everyone on the island uses golf carts to get around which I love. Its a private island, quiet, and tranquil. A nice change from the hustle and bustle of tourists on east coast beaches. This place has been an excellent haven to escape to with friends. we have had so many laughs here! The weather has been wonderful both times I visited...but even the rain here seems beautiful. My favorite room is surrounded in windows, perfect place just to read a book...the breezes throughout this home are magnificent. My only regret is having to leave. I highly suggested escaping to this house! Hurry!
