Perfect location for someone wanting to get the true Austin experience.

Stylish historic house where you can rockstar it up or relax in plush surroundings. Beautifully designed and thoughtfully appointed, the 2500 sq ft home has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and sleeps 7 or 8.

The home features a formal living area with large flat screen TV, a dining room and a kitchen with a TV watching area.

The master bedroom has a king-sized bed. Two rooms have double beds and one bedroom has a twin bed with a trundle. Each room has unique character and style.

In front, a hammock swings from the columned front porch. And a cocktail area with music balances the other side of the porch.

Out back is a stylish modern swimming pool with hot tub, a deck, outdoor dining table, gas grill and a deck for soaking in rays poolside.

Music plays throughout the public spaces. Stainless steel kitchen, quality beddings, and everything you'd expect of a quality home.

The rental is on the edge of the central business district, in a walkable, historic neighborhood known as Clarksville. Whole Foods is a 5-minute walk away. Liquor store and bakery are a 2-minute walk and there are 6 or 7 restaurants within a 5-minute walk as well. We've got plenty of retail shopping nearby: By George, named one of the nation's top fashion boutiques; Anthropologie; BookPeople; Waterloo Records; Lululemon; Lush; Jonathan Adler; Amy's Ice Cream: plus a handful of local Austin boutiques. All major Austin activities are within a mile or two of the house. Public transportation is easy to catch from this prime location.

Because of the special nature of the house, renters must at least 30 years old.

About Charles Webre

I am a creative director of a local advertising agency. My job and my own interests mean I am often out of town and I lease out my house when I am gone, investing the money back into the house to make it nicer for the next renter.

I grew up internationally and have done the same in my adult life, living in London, Paris and domestically in New York. Additionally, I travel extensively for pleasure, always as far as I can. As a result, my home is a working travelers guide. A bibelot from this country, a painting from that. My aesthetic is Louis the Fifteenth meets Zsa Zsa Gabor.

Why Charles Webre chose Austin

I like the elegant nature of an older home. And this one, built in 1915, is elegant with a modern and relaxed sensibility.

I first lived in the area when I was a student at University of Texas. And then to New York after graduation. But as luck would have it, when I returned 20 years later I was able to find a house on the very same street as I lived on before! The house is as close to downtown as you can get while still having a yard.

What makes this house unique

The home features everything you'd expect form an older home: a wide front porch, complete with columns and ceiling fans; 10 foot high ceilings; original longleaf pine floors. What is doesn't have is all the things you'd expect of an older home: poor heating and cooling; drafts; sloppy renovations; and doilies on every surface.

Additional information about rental rates

Your 50% deposit up front to reserve your stay. It is refundable until 30 days before your stay. At that point, the other half is due. Additionally, there is a $1500 security deposit that I hold in case there are damages. After your stay, I'll return the full amount provided we're in good shape. I have never had to collect on this. Everyone seems to respect the house.
Fees And Taxes Please note that my rental is licensed by the City of Austin, meaning that it has hopped through numerous hoops and lifted its skirts for various bureaucrats. It also means that I am obliged to charge a 9% hotel tax on the rental. Death and taxes, you know.
Standard weekends rates are $800 a night, 2 night minimum. $500 for adjacent weekday nights. Festivals run $1500 a night. I can adjust your festival dates to fit your exact schedule. Email me for your precise quote.

A wonderful home away from home

We have stayed in a few different places during SXSW over the years but nothing has ever been this pleasant. Charles did a great job describing the house - he was actually a little modest! It's the perfect size for a group of friends visiting; you'll have your own space in each bedroom and the common areas are great for entertaining. We were touched by the attention to detail - there were fresh towels, a gift basket of local goodies, and a guide to the house and Austin that really showed how much Charles cared. It was so nice to have someone let you into their home and feel so immediately welcome. The house itself is amazing - the bathrooms are great, the bedrooms were all beautifully decorated and the beds were super comfortable! The pool and backyard area were great for having people over - we spent most nights out there listening to music and enjoying the hot tub. It's also the perfect spot for entertaining, especially with the gas grill and outdoor dinner table.

I almost don't want to write this review ebcause I want to guarantee I have this house again for next year! But seriously, if you're going for a festival or just for a weekend, this house is the best you can get - easy walking distance to downtown (15 minutes at a good clip), good restaurants nearby, 2 blocks from the Whole Foods and there's a liquor store around the corner. What more could you need?

The house was wonderful, both beautiful and clean. We were using it to conduct an internal offsite in addition to attending events at SXSWi. The living room was large and comfortable for our meetings and the convenience to downtown was great! We were able to walk to all of the bars, restaurants and even the convention center. We even had the personal chef, Chris make us a wonderful meal. Thanks for sharing your house Charles! We had a wonderful time!

While planning our, four car guys, trip to Austin for the Formula 1 Race, we were lucky to find Charles' home and from the minute we opened the door we knew that our stay would be enjoyable. There is a special warmth that makes a house into a home and let there be no doubt this is a home. The location, the size, the decor, the cleanliness, and the warmth all contributed to making this a perfect place for our group.
Owner Charles was great to deal with, along with offering a number of suggestions which helped to make our trip full of memories. Our last evening we did eat in, having our meal prepared in front of us by his Chef Chris, another suggestion of Charles.
We are planning to make it again next year.

Fantastic time in Austin

Great accommodations and fantastic setup, utilized the house for 4 nights during ACL festival. Place is much larger than the pics reflect, really opens up and there was plenty of space for 8 of us. Music setup is perfect and the backyard and pool/hot tub are pretty sick as well.

Location is very convenient, a block from the liquor store and 2 from Whole Foods, about a 10 minute walk to the bars on 6th street.

All in all I'd highly recommend this location.

Fantastic home in Austin!

Can't say enough about this house. We were a group of four couples visiting Austin for the first time and looking to avoid hotels to spend more time together. This gem is in a downtown neighborhood near the action, comes with an amazing pool and hot tub, 4 beds, 3 baths, hammock out front, impeccable decoration, etc. Owner is also very friendly and ensured that we enjoyed our stay. Comes with fresh sheets and towels and having fresh coffee in the morning was a delight. Liquor store at the end of the street and nearby eateries. We loved it. Would recommend to anyone, particularly a group like ours trying to spend some quality time together.
