This 2 bedroom, 1 bath year-round third floor flat is located in the scenic New England town of Madison, Connecticut on Long Island Sound. This 1000 square foot third floor guest home is part of a stately old summer house built in 1918. Master bedroom has own cable television and king bed with plenty of closet and bureau space. 2nd bedroom includes bunk bed with double lower and trundle bed if needed. Large living room with cable TV, full dining area, and full kitchen. Bathroom with shower. Sun on hardwood floors throughout. Deck next to tidal marsh great for bird watching or relaxing with a book. During summer months, ask about use of above ground pool as part of your experience.

This flat is centrally located, yet tucked away in a wooded enclave. It is within a 10 minute walk of local town beaches as well as the in-town independent theatre. A fine French Bistro can be found a block away, right behind the local Audubon Shop. Hammonasett State Park is only a mile up the road.

Madison is one of a series of small seashore towns where boating, beaches, swimming, and gorgeous water views keep visitors coming back year after year.

Day trips to Providence and Newport Rhode Island, Old Essex CT, Yale/New Haven and Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, as well as Lake Compounce (the oldest continuously operating amusement park in North America) are among the local venues for daytrips.

Madison is fortunate to have an independent theatre and one of America's finest independent book stores, RJ Julia. And of course there is a diverse selection of restaurants in Madison and surrounding towns. If you are bringing children, the town of Madison hosts a variety of summer camps (sailing, soccer, swimming etc.). Horseback riding camps for children and lessons for adults minutes away at fabulous Guilford Riding School. After a fun-filled day, visit Stone Temple Sanctuary for a relaxing massage. They are located just down the street from this conveniently located rental!

Now that I own a family residence with a third floor guest home attached here in Madison, I would like others to have the opportunity to build New England seashore memories. Great place for a family get-away

This is a wonderful place to go for a family get-away. It is located in a woodsy area just a few blocks from the town of Madison. Easy walk downtown for the requisite beach town coffee shop, ice cream place. It also had an independent bookstore, and movie theater. Not on the beach, but close walk. Very easy to get to sites nearby like the cliffwalk in Newport, Mystic, etc. Just a few miles from a great state park and a great place for seafood- Lennie and Joe's Fish Tale.
The accomodations were up to date, the kitchen and whole place was well stocked. The owners live down below, and are very helpful with info as to area restaurants, and shops, etc. They were very gracious in lending us beach umbrellas and chairs as we had flown to the East Coast for our vacation. Madison doesn't feel like a packed tourist place like Newport or Mystic. We loved going to the farmer's market for fresh veggies and fish for our stay.

Great Getaway

My family and I recently came back from spending the weekend in Madison. Criss and her husband, Nick, were extremely hospitable, kind and accomodating. The apartment was very clean and spacious, the description and pictures are exactly what you get. I usually don't write reviews, but what stood out the most from the weekend was how intuitive Criss and Nick were to all of our needs. The service was similar to a five star hotel (maybe even a little better) For example, we invited a couple friends over for a barbaque. Criss noticed that we needed more space and she brought over a table and a few chairs. Additionally, when one of our guests were arriving to spend the night with us, Nick was extremely kind and helpful with their bags. I would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful getaway!

We were looking for a one week getaway and found the perfect place here!
The apartment is quiet, nicely equipped and has beautiful wooden floors; overall the whole property is very pretty, surrounded by nature there are lots of places to sit, read, relax and/or watch birds. We particularly loved sitting on the deck facing the marsh. The owners are very friendly and accommodating.
The town of Madison is in walking distance with non chain coffee shops, outstanding sandwich places (Flavor) and a great local bookshop (amazing to find such a place in times of amazon!). We are seafood lovers and our favorite place was "Edd's", just a 10 minute drive away; a simple, beautifully located restaurant serving lobster roles at their best!
We enjoyed long walks on the beaches and especially loved the close by Hammonasset state park!
We certainly recommend this property!

We stayed with our two sons (11 and 8) and our dog here from August 18 until August 25 and had the most wonderful time. The apartment is spacious, neatly furnished and extremly clean - the owners were very friendly and helpful and had a couple of great suggestions about what to do and where to go in the area. The beautiful property is located in walking distance to the town of Madison, a cute little town with coffee bars, restaurants - "Flavor" was one of our favorite restaurants with incredibly tasty sandwiches! - and fancy little shops. Also in walking distance are amazing beaches. Our sons especially loved the "Brownestone waterpark" which is a 30. Min. drive away and was recommended to us by the owners.
We will definitely come back next year!!
