Guestbook comments from the owner

The flat is situated in a street with many restaurants and bars and it is very close to Bayswater Station --> great for exploring London! The flat is big enough and offers a kitchen, enough room for sleep and a nice bathroom. We enjoyed ourselves there very much!

L'appartement est très bien. Il est propre, fonctionnel, tout près du métro, des restos, épicerie, souvenirs etc ... Vous êtes en zone 1 du métro qui vous mène au centre en 10-15 min.

Location location location

  • 4 of 5
The apartment has all the basic things expected, nothing fancy... Rooms are quite small and it gets very noisy on weekends till late in the morning. Everything compensated by it's superb location in the heart of Bayswater.. Plenty of restaurants, a block away from a rather cozy shopping mall and directly above a tube station. Recommended for those spending most hours of the day outside in London and coming back for a place to sleep and shower. Owner is very helpful and considerate as we manage to store our bags 3 days in advance from the date of booking and had a late checkout around 6pm. Thanks Andrea!

Great tube access, lively but noisy street

  • 4 of 5
This property is located very close to two tube stops, so it's easy to get most places from here. The apartment building appears to have been renovated recently, and is in quite good condition. The apartment itself was perfectly fine-well-equiped and clean, fairly spartan in appearance. Two grocery stores are close by, so stocking up on food is easy. There is a wide variety of what appear to be generally inexpensive restaurants nearby, although we didn't have a chance to try any. The biggest issue for us was the street noise. If you're from a big city and accustomed to it, you might not mind, but even with the windows closed you'll hear the activity on the street below (and there's a lot; it's a lively neighborhood) until late at night, and trucks making their deliveries to the stores very early in the morning.

Horrid

  • 1 of 5
I'm giving one star for location - this apartment is in London and is near the Tube. You might consider staying here is your want a high priced hostel experience or miss a run down dorm room. The site is noisy. The apartment is run down (the pictures of the plastic futons dont show the wooden blocks holding them up or the rickety chairs held together by messy applied glue). The "linens" include one small worn out scratchy towel for each person- no hand towel or washcloth. There are no soaps or paper products supplied. The beds are poor and uncomfortable. There were four of us and how they advertise for more is even more appalling. There is one key so that you always have to be together back at the apt to get back in. The owner is nowhere. on arrival you call someone (not the owner) who then calls the housekeeper who has no interest in explaining or showing the apt ( who would think to look in the hall closet for a refrigerator?) I would only recommend this listing to an unliked enemy . if this were my first vrbo experience i would never use it again

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5
While the location of this apartment is great - close to the subway, shops, restaurants, etc., it is just too loud. The apartment overlooks a very busy street and literally is right above a casino and a subway stop. So while these amenities are close, they are too close. Unfortunately, we happened to rent the apartment during a heat wave, and this apartment was hot inside. There is no A/C or fans, so we needed to keep windows open for air which only added to the noise. We thought the noise issue the first night was because it was a Saturday night, but it was loud every night - buses, cars, and very disrespectful people partying and yelling at all hours of the night.

The apartment itself is large enough and has two bedrooms. The kitchen is small but has what you need. There is only one bathroom that functions - shower curtain is a bit dodgy. I should have known something was up with the apartment when I was handed a key ring with three different keys for three different deadbolts to unlatch to get into the place. The pictures are not current and were probably taken years ago as the apartment is a bit run down.

Overall, I would not stay here again. It may work for some, i.e. heavy sleepers, but it didn't work for us.

Owner's Response: Dear Ian,
thank you for your review,
I'm very sorry you didn't feel confortable at my property.I'ts very rare is very hot in London and I lived in the property for many years.
The property has a new double glazing windows to prevent noise .As you said very disrespectful people partying and yelling at all hours of the night, unluckly I could not prevent that .
For the fan I wil put in the apartament fews in case it happen again a heat wave weather
The pictures are very recent I took myself in May 2013 while I was in London, but doesn't matter .
Best regards

Bayswater and Queensway tube stations are both less than 100m away and Hyde Park is just 50m away! Queensway has many shops and restaurants which are open until midnight and beyond (even Boots the chemist) and there is ice skating, 10 pin bowling, a multi screen cinema, Marks and Spencer and Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco. Being in Zone 1 of London this is the deal spot to branch out and see the city as many sights are within walking distance and there are a huge variety of tubes to catch to take you to the rest of central London within 10minutes. This really is an ideal tourist destination. Its a 3 minutes walk from Hyde park, Kensington Palace and Gardens

It is a short distance from everything in London, including shops on Oxford Street, Buckingham Palace, Mayfair, the London Eye, Harrods, Notting Hill/ Portobello Road and the market, London Zoo, Madame Tussaud's, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Royal Albert Hall, Lord's Cricket Ground, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament - everything! The private hospitals on Harley Street and the Financial District are also a short distance, with excellent links on our doorstep (circle line, central line, district line). The Heathrow Express is close, taking you to the airport on a 15 minute train journey. All your daily needs are catered for on the street with many shops and restaurants. The best ones we'll share with you, on request! Truly a great location for all!

Attractions: Oxford Street, New Bond Street, Harrods, Madame Tussaud's, The Planetarium, Hyde Park, Kensington Palace Gardens (and all the other parks!), The Dorchester Hotel, Notting Hill, London markets (Camden, Portobello, Borough), museums and art galleries (The Tate, Science, Natural History, Tate Modern, British, Portrait Gallery, Somerset House), Covent Garden, theatres in the West End, musicals galore, The London Eye, Southbank, Harrods, Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilily Circus, Leicester Square, Harley Street, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey (The Royal Wedding!), St Pauls' Cathedral, the River Thames, boats tours, 17 minutes to Bank Station in the Financial District, Wimbledon, Lord's Cricket Ground - and so much more! Exploring UK More: Oxford: There is the Oxford Tube, a coach (10 minutes walk) that takes explorers to the centre of Oxford in 100 minutes. Things to do include:- Christchurch Gardens, punting on the river. Ask for advice as we have both lived there.

Cambridge: A train ride (1 hour) from Kings Cross.

The Orangery for quintessentially English cream tea (with or without Champagne!) al fresco. Whiteleys shopping centre, Queensway shops for groceries, etc. The best underground and bus links within 3 minutes walk. Yet we are in a calm, mansion block residential building. A haven and sanctuary to come home to, that peacefully sits in the buzz of London life!

Restaurants - too many to name!

Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco within a short walk for groceries.

Ski:

The Snow Centre is the UK's newest premier indoor snow sports destination, with a 160m indoor slope of prime quality snow! (even when its not winter!). This is in Hemel Hampstead, a train ride away (27 miles away).

Golf:

There are a few golf clubs in and around London. The one that we are aware of is in Chiswick, called Dukes Meadows. The famous Wentworth Golf Club, famous for its Championship golf and 3 outstanding courses is in Virginia Waters (23 miles). Close by is a reservoir where you can windsurf and sail.
