Kona Bali Kai 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom + Lanai Condominium is DIRECT OCEAN FRONT with an underhand rock toss to the sea wall. You can't get any closer and stay dry. If you want Direct Ocean Front in a totally remodeled unit at a reasonable price you have found it.
The famous (site of frequent competitions) Banyan Surf Break is directly in front of our unit so you'll enjoy watching the surf.

Our condo has had a complete remodel. New custom cabinets in Kitchen Baths with granite counters, and new custom tiled showers both baths w/ glass block enclosure, new floor tile in all rooms. The electrical system is new and we have a 37' flat panel TV DVR, Quality Fans in each major room and a new, available AC unit. We also provide free free Wifi.
The famous (site of frequent competitions) Banyan Beach is directly in front of our unit so you'll enjoy watching the surfers while you relax on the unit is on the convenient 3rd building level with free ground level parking. At this level you can see the turtles feeding on the moss on the rocks along the shoreline during the day. Grill early every evening and sit on the lanai for Sunset, best in town.
The Living Room and Master Bedroom each have floor to ceiling sliders with direct access onto the ocean facing lanai with world class views.
The coastline in front of Kona Bali Kai has tide pools and sandy areas - perfect for poking around on a lazy afternoon. Free propane fired outdoor barbeques are available for guests and a turtle visitor or two is a frequent sight.
I stayed with my sister for 5 nights in July 2013. The condo is not huge, but attractively furnished. Kitchen and baths have all been renovated; the bathrooms were especially nice. There was plenty of hot water; we almost couldn't get the shower cool enough! The beds were VERY comfy. The condo is right on the ocean -- it couldn't be any closer without getting wet! The location is ideal. Close enough to reach the touristy area of Kailua Town within minutes, but in a much less busy area. There is underground parking available at no charge. This keeps your car parked in the shade and is very convenient to go right to the elevator. There were tons of bath towels and 5 beach towels, and an assortment of fun beach gear: 2 noodles, some coolers, 2 sand chairs for the beach, some mats, and I think some snorkel gear. There were movies available on DVD and a big screen TV, but we never even turned it on. Out and busy all day... then after dinner we collapsed. There is ONE A/C unit, in the living room, and multiple fans available. The wi-fi worked perfectly, as did the new washer/dryer.
There aren't many cons with this property. The biggest complaint is the heat in the front bedroom. No way the single window unit can reach that front bedroom. We tried both A/C cooling and open window/ocean breeze. That room never cooled enough to be comfortable. The master is closer to the A/C unit, and by leaving the huge sliding door open to the living room, it cooled well enough. Personally, I would not want to stay there again in that front bedroom. If you only need to use 1 bedroom, this is still a bargain compared to the Sheraton Keauhou nearby. The condo complex has multiple buildings in a cluster. The pool is in the center. This means the pool is shaded by the buildings most of the day. It is only sunny when the sun is directly overhead. The kitchen has a ton of pots, pans, dishes, and storage containers, but the knives won't cut hot butter. If you wish to peel fruit or chop some for the blender, pack a paring knife in your checked luggage. You'll be dismayed to see how very close this condo sits to Ali'i Drive. In the daytime there is traffic noise, but at night, it becomes a sleepy little area with little traffic and the noise was no factor. The key is kept by the management company, so you must go there first to pick it up, and return it there when you check out. (Some places have lockboxes right outside the condo door, saving the additional stops.)
