Santa Fe House Rental Photos and Description

A 4 Bedroom, 3 Bath Home, All Comforts, with Spectacular Mountain Views

This is a beautiful home that will provide a perfect setting in any season for a getaway or for an extended visit. IF YOU WISH TO STAY MORE THAN ONE WEEK, PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER FOR DISCOUNTED RATES. The rates on this site are for visits one week or less; 'Instant Quote' does not give accurate information for longer stays as it does not take into consideration the discount we offer for all periods except Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years. We're happy to talk to you about the rates.

Nestled in the beautiful and lush Tesuque Valley this classic adobe home is a perfect retreat where attention has been paid to all the details for a memorable visit. The spacious house is situated in the foothills of the Sangre de Christo mountains with lovely grounds featuring fruit trees and lilac bushes. Enter through the Mexican gates to a private haven with Zen inspired gardens and beautiful views for a relaxing sojourn.

The open concept living space includes a large living room, furnished in comfortable Western style with leather sofas, easy chairs, interesting art work, including native rugs, a wood-burning fireplace and plenty of firewood. Hidden away in a lovely antique Chinese wedding armoire is an entertainment center including a television, DVD player and stereo system with CD player and iPod station. This room invites solitary relaxation, intimate conversation or festive entertaining. Enjoy board games and cards at an oak table in the adjoining sun room. Or, if you must do a little work or want to connect with friends, there is WIFI.

In a separate area, set off by a rustic wooden column and beams with hand carved detail, is a heavy wooden dining table, surrounded with wood and leather chairs, seating eight to ten people friendly in front of a bank of full-length windows. They provide an airy, sun dappled space by day, a romantic vista of twinkling lights by night.

Cooks will love the completely renovated kitchen with all new appliances, 5 burner stove, big stainless steel sink, and fabulous views from the large centerpiece window of the mountains to the west. Situated so that the cooks can easily interact with family and friends in the living and dining areas, the kitchen also has an unobstructed view to the television for glimpses of a favorite show or movie while preparing dinner. Counter seating provides a perfect spot for chatting with the chef or enjoying an early morning sip of coffee, tea or cocoa.

The cabinets are stocked by people who love cooking with All-Clad, Calphalon and Le Creuset cookware and every small appliance and utensil imaginable. You’ll find plenty of dishes and serving pieces, mugs and bowls and glasses of all types -- including a large stock of stem ware for wine -- and Southwestern-style hammered stainless steel flatware. There's a diverse selection of cookbooks to inspire you, complete with high-altitude tips, a vintage stool perfect for a young child, and, just for fun, a popcorn popper.

A bright sun room features French doors that open to a unique redwood deck with native latillas above. There you’ll be drawn to watch splendid evening sunsets or enjoy a meal al fresco at a wrought iron table - with or without umbrella - in a beautiful landscaped garden area a few steps away on a flagstone patio. Beyond the patio, a path leads to a private hot tub and deck with another table and chairs. Have a drink, a little something to eat, relax and enjoy the view to the open sky and the surrounding hills and trees. Through french doors off the dining room step onto a charming stone patio with a hand set stone wall, beautifully landscaped for a peaceful morning retreat or quiet evening with gentle lighting under a starry sky.

On the main level is a bedroom with bath that can be closed off for privacy. It is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a comfortable King bed using the same system found at many spas, including Canyon Ranch. The room features a ceiling fan, large windows and ample closet space. The bath has a tub and a shower as well as a full size washer and dryer.

A few steps down from the main level is the private master suite with a King bed. A Mexican armoire holds a large television, DVD and CD players. Two magnificent Havana rockers with hand caning set off the room. French doors open to beautiful gardens and a fountain to softly lull you. Marble tiles make the master bath a serene place to enjoy the large walk-in shower with spa bench. The vanity has two sinks, ample drawer space and an expansive mirror.

Upstairs are two additional bedrooms which share a charming bathroom with wrought iron details, a Mexican tin mirror and a unique tile floor. These bedrooms have ceiling fans and are also served by an evaporative cooling system (air conditioning common in Southwest dry conditions) which effectively cools the house. Each upstairs bedroom has French doors through which to step out onto a large deck, a perfect place for sunning, watching evening sunsets or enjoying the antics of hummingbirds vying for nectar from the feeders and numerous bird species providing entertainment for all ages.

The smoke-free house, accessed through an electronically operated gate and a winding driveway, is off Bishop's Lodge Road. A carport offers shelter for your vehicles. Hard to believe you’re only three short and lovely miles from Santa Fe’s famous Plaza. Elegant Bishop's Lodge Resort and Spa, Santa Fe’s oldest inn, is one-half mile away, a perfect place to house overflow guests or to enjoy a meal or spa services.

Tesuque Village Market - the local grocery and dining place - is just two miles from the house. Keep an eye out for celebrities here while picking up fresh produce, pastries, take-out and wine for dinner or just stop by for lunch. Nearby is the Santa Fe Ski Basin which is perfect for great skiing. The marvelous town of Taos, with its highly rated ski slopes, is only 60 minutes away.

More features:

- Coffee, tea and cocoa await your arrival. Selection of spices, oils, vinegars and other 'staples' for cooking.

- Guide books for local hiking trails and places of interest are on hand as well as a full selection of materials about Santa Fe and New Mexico for touring, shopping, playing and dining.

- Board games, cards, dominos, and horse shoes.

- A cooler to take along on your outdoor adventures.

- A Guest Notebook provides you with all pertinent information you might need about appliances and house systems, as well as many recommendations of things to do, places to go, and restaurants.

- All bathrooms are stocked with hair dryers, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap and body wash.

- Closets are in every bedroom.

- There is plenty of hot water from new water heaters.

- When it is cold, reach for the firewood and pull out the comforters for the beds. When it is warm, fire up the grill and gather on the patio for dinner and enjoy the awesome beauty of nature.

About Holly Hazleton, Home/Property Owner

We live in Atlanta, with regular visits to Santa Fe to enjoy the remarkable beauty of this place and to keep the property and grounds in perfect condition. We are the hands-on home owners and strive to offer the best of Santa Fe hospitality in sharing the home.

Holly Hazleton, Home/Property Owner purchased this house in 2003

Why Holly Hazleton, Home/Property Owner chose Santa Fe

We wanted a home and surroundings completely different from Atlanta and we found it. The house is very special and we derive great happiness, not only from our personal time there, but also from the experience of sharing it with guests. Many of our guests return to the home on a regular basis, some are enjoying their first trip to Santa Fe, awed and vowing to return to this magical place. We have such varied groupings: families of three generations celebrating together, newly married couples, friends who take annual trips together, women's groups and men's groups for exploring, shopping, hiking, golfing, visiting art museums and sampling amazing restaurants. Foremost, for all of our guests, the opportunity to gather to enjoy the bond between them. A young couple was engaged at the top of the hill behind the house, another couple was married on the patio. In summer, the house provides a perfect venue for an extended stay for family and friends to visit. Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are very special and the house is a perfect setting. We know all this, because we have in fact experienced nearly all of these opportunities ourselves and there is nothing quite like being with family, friends, and sometimes just with each other in a beautiful setting.

What makes this house unique

The house and location provide privacy and quiet and stunning beauty. The Plaza is close by as well as other destinations to experience Santa Fe. Enjoy all that is offered by exploring Santa Fe and then return to this beautiful, spacious, comfortable and fully equipped, well maintained home for a memorable, lasting experience.

La Casa de Cielo y sol

  • 5 of 5

This is my favorite destination in the USA, and the World. I love Northern New Mexico, Santa Fe, and this house. I've rented this house four times, each time with three other couples, and each time has been wonderful. The house is magical, in that it promotes togetherness, but allows privacy: there are separate areas for reading or just quiet. But there's a geat interior dining room, and also a terrific deck with a grill for lunch, wine, or dinner in a communal setting. If you like New Mexico, I can't imagine a better place: tranquil, easy to access great NM sites, away from the sometime frenetic SF scene, but easily accessible to the great galleries, restaurants, and hiking sites near SF.

The kitchen is fantastic - a perfect place for 3-4 couples who would like to enjoy time together and the magical atmosphere of New Mexico. We will return, agai and again, to this wonderful place.

The Perfect House for a Stay in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 representing 3 generations stayed at Casa de Cielo y Sol over the Christmas holiday this year. It's a perfect location, private and quiet in a peaceful and scenic setting but only a few minutes form the hart of Santa Fe. The house couldn't be more welcoming, clean, comfortable, well-stocked and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is amazing - definitely designed by someone who enjoys cooking. We made a number of wonderful meals in the incredibly well appointed kitchen with lovely views. We didn't lack for anything.

I would love to stay here again if the opportunity arises and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Santa Fe. I'm originally from Santa Fe and can say without hesitation that this house represents the best of what homes in Santa Fe have to offer both inside and out. The owners were great to work with and super responsive to any questions we had.

Wonderful House - Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

I can't say how much my girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay at this house in Santa Fe. We absolutely loved the western style interior and furnishings, the well stocked kitchen and the wonderful and quiet outdoors areas. The owners were super easy to work with and had a tone of information about the house, the area and Santa Fe. We had a great stay and can't wait to go back again.

Great Location... Home Design Promotes Social Interaction Inside And Out

  • 5 of 5

The pictures tell a good story but you really must be there to understand and enjoy the story line. We took our 3 Sons and their Wives to Santa Fe for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. This home was exactly what we were looking for. Several of us are very good cooks and the kitchen was everything you would need to cook grommet meals. The bedroom layout is perfect for four family groups with everyone having the privacy they need. The outside patios were perfect for morning, afternoon and evening eating and entertaining, The main patio has a great gas grill and the views in the evening are breathtaking. If you love being outdoors enjoying the great Santa Fe Summer weather, this is the place to be, The inside of the home is open and makes family gathering very easy. The outside is also set up to aid in family social time. There is ample covered parking space for your vehicles. The outside lighting makes it very easy to access the paths to the home. If you love birding, there are plenty of hummingbirds and numerous other birds to watch. Inside the home there is a detailed book of information providing everything you might need to find things around the home, things to do in and around Santa Fe, places to eat and easy day trips. The property owners are very easy to work with, provide everything you would ever want and easy to contact if needed. Everyone in our family loved this Home and all said they did not want to leave and would come back again.

Family Christmas in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

My husband, boys, and their wives and children all spent a magical Christmas in Santa Fe with this house as the backdrop! It was the perfect setting and the perfect location! The living and dining area was large with a fabulous kitchen. The bedrooms were private and all had convenient bathrooms. There was a hot tub the kids used after sledding and skiing and lovely patios for us to have coffee in the morning and check out the bird population as well as enjoy the sunsets in the evening with a drink. It was secluded, quiet, but very close to town. We had great taxi service when we needed it for a minimal cost. Everything was provided for us. The appointments were as nice or nicer than mine at home, including a white table cloth for Christmas dinner! We will never forget our stay here and hope to go back again soon!

Our Month on the Mountain

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this amazing home for the month of July this year. We could not be happier about the decision. The house and grounds are just as great as advertised. The newly remodeled kitchen is a cook's dream, and beautiful. The whole place is perfect for small or large groups. Great outdoor seating areas with perfect sunset views to the close and far away mountains to the west. Very quiet for being so close in to town. Only 7-8 minutes into the square, and highway access through Tesuque to the north.

The owners provide all the bedding, towels, and cooking items you would ever need to feel right at home. Any issues that came up on the property was quickly remedied by the in town caretaker, or the owners themselves. The wifi access worked great, and was appreciated by all those checking mail, and deciding which restaurants to try next. Our favorites were Geronimo, Café Café, Bert's Burger Bowl, Tia Sophia's and Cowgirl. Many more to choose from as well.

Don't hesitate to book this beautiful home for your next trip to Santa Fe !

The house and property are situated in an expansive and stunning natural environment perfect for enjoying the outdoors at all levels of activity, from vigorous and challenging to quiet walking and observing. Hiking on the property and nearby trails is a favorite activity of guests. The house and grounds offer privacy, comfort and relaxation. Birdwatching, perfect for all ages, is a special treat and can provide hours of entertainment. Venture out for the Opera, close by, and to the road to the Ski Basin, just a very short drive for a beautiful outdoor adventure all seasons of the year. Just north of the house are destinations most visitors to Santa Fe never see: galleries, a sculpture garden and foundry, a glass blowing studio and a Southwestern cafe and market, a favorite of the locals. And just south of the house, the Plaza is just a quick and direct drive (no turns).
