ENCHANTING HOME - A SOUTHWESTERN GEM *DISCOUNTED RATES FOR EXTENDED VISITS*

Santa Fe House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This is a beautiful home that will provide a perfect setting in any season for a getaway or for an extended visit. IF YOU WISH TO STAY MORE THAN ONE WEEK, PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER FOR DISCOUNTED RATES. The rates on this site are only for visits one week or less; please ignore 'Instant Quote' for longer stays; it does not take into consideration the discount we offer. We're happy to talk to you about the rates.

Nestled in the beautiful and lush Tesuque Valley this classic adobe home is a perfect retreat where attention has been paid to all the details for a memorable visit. The spacious house is situated in the foothills of the Sangre de Christo mountains with lovely grounds featuring fruit trees and lilac bushes. Enter through the Mexican gates to a private haven with Zen inspired gardens and beautiful views for a relaxing sojourn.

The open concept living space includes a large living room, furnished in comfortable Western style with leather sofas, easy chairs, interesting art work, including native rugs, a wood-burning fireplace and plenty of firewood. Hidden away in a lovely antique Chinese wedding armoire is an entertainment center including a television, DVD player and stereo system with CD player and iPod station. This room invites solitary relaxation, intimate conversation or festive entertaining. Enjoy board games and cards at an oak table in the adjoining sun room. Or, if you must do a little work or want to connect with friends, there is WIFI.

In a separate area, set off by a rustic wooden column and beams with hand carved detail, is a heavy wooden dining table, surrounded with wood and leather chairs, seating eight to ten people friendly in front of a bank of full-length windows. They provide an airy, sun dappled space by day, a romantic vista of twinkling lights by night.

Cooks will love the completely renovated kitchen with all new appliances, 5 burner stove, big stainless steel sink, and fabulous views from the large centerpiece window of the mountains to the west. Situated so that the cooks can easily interact with family and friends in the living and dining areas, the kitchen also has an unobstructed view to the television for glimpses of a favorite show or movie while preparing dinner. Counter seating provides a perfect spot for chatting with the chef or enjoying an early morning sip of coffee, tea or cocoa.

The cabinets are stocked by people who love cooking with All-Clad, Calphalon and Le Creuset cookware and every small appliance and utensil imaginable. You’ll find plenty of dishes and serving pieces, mugs and bowls and glasses of all types -- including a large stock of stem ware for wine -- and Southwestern-style hammered stainless steel flatware. There's a diverse selection of cookbooks to inspire you, complete with high-altitude tips, a vintage stool perfect for a young child, and, just for fun, a popcorn popper.

A bright sun room features French doors that open to a unique redwood deck with native latillas above. There you’ll be drawn to watch splendid evening sunsets or enjoy a meal al fresco at a wrought iron table - with or without umbrella - in a beautiful landscaped garden area a few steps away on a flagstone patio. Beyond the patio, a path leads to a private hot tub and deck with another table and chairs. Have a drink, a little something to eat, relax and enjoy the view to the open sky and the surrounding hills and trees. Through french doors off the dining room step onto a charming stone patio with a hand set stone wall, beautifully landscaped for a peaceful morning retreat or quiet evening with gentle lighting under a starry sky.

On the main level is a bedroom with bath that can be closed off for privacy. It is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a comfortable King bed using the same system found at many spas, including Canyon Ranch. The room features a ceiling fan, large windows and ample closet space. The bath has a tub and a shower as well as a full size washer and dryer.

A few steps down from the main level is the private master suite with a King bed. A Mexican armoire holds a large television, DVD and CD players. Two magnificent Havana rockers with hand caning set off the room. French doors open to beautiful gardens and a fountain to softly lull you. Marble tiles make the master bath a serene place to enjoy the large walk-in shower with spa bench. The vanity has two sinks, ample drawer space and an expansive mirror.

Upstairs are two additional bedrooms which share a charming bathroom with wrought iron details, a Mexican tin mirror and a unique tile floor. These bedrooms have ceiling fans and are also served by an evaporative cooling system (air conditioning common in Southwest dry conditions) which effectively cools the house. Each upstairs bedroom has French doors through which to step out onto a large deck, a perfect place for sunning, watching evening sunsets or enjoying the antics of hummingbirds vying for nectar from the feeders and numerous bird species providing entertainment for all ages.

The smoke-free house, accessed through an electronically operated gate and a winding driveway, is off Bishop's Lodge Road. A carport offers shelter for your vehicles. Hard to believe you’re only three short and lovely miles from Santa Fe’s famous Plaza. Elegant Bishop's Lodge Resort and Spa, Santa Fe’s oldest inn, is one-half mile away, a perfect place to house overflow guests or to enjoy a meal or spa services.

Tesuque Village Market - the local grocery and dining place - is just two miles from the house. Keep an eye out for celebrities here while picking up fresh produce, pastries, take-out and wine for dinner or just stop by for lunch. Nearby is the Santa Fe Ski Basin which is perfect for great skiing. The marvelous town of Taos, with its highly rated ski slopes, is only 60 minutes away.

More features:

- Coffee, tea and cocoa await your arrival. Selection of spices, oils, vinegars and other 'staples' for cooking.

- Guide books for local hiking trails and places of interest are on hand as well as a full selection of materials about Santa Fe and New Mexico for touring, shopping, playing and dining.

- Board games, cards, dominos, and horse shoes.

- A cooler to take along on your outdoor adventures.

- A Guest Notebook provides you with all pertinent information you might need about appliances and house systems, as well as many recommendations of things to do, places to go, and restaurants.

- All bathrooms are stocked with hair dryers, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap and body wash.

- Closets are in every bedroom.

- There is plenty of hot water from new water heaters.

- When it is cold, reach for the firewood and pull out the comforters for the beds. When it is warm, fire up the grill and gather on the patio for dinner and enjoy the awesome beauty of nature.

FAMILY CHRISTMAS IN SANTA FE

  • 5 of 5
My husband, boys, and their wives and children all spent a magical Christmas in Santa Fe with this house as the backdrop! It was the perfect setting and the perfect location! The living and dining area was large with a fabulous kitchen. The bedrooms were private and all had convenient bathrooms. There was a hot tub the kids used after sledding and skiing and lovely patios for us to have coffee in the morning and check out the bird population as well as enjoy the sunsets in the evening with a drink. It was secluded, quiet, but very close to town. We had great taxi service when we needed it for a minimal cost. Everything was provided for us. The appointments were as nice or nicer than mine at home, including a white table cloth for Christmas dinner! We will never forget our stay here and hope to go back again soon!

OUR MONTH ON THE MOUNTAIN

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at this amazing home for the month of July this year. We could not be happier about the decision. The house and grounds are just as great as advertised. The newly remodeled kitchen is a cook's dream, and beautiful. The whole place is perfect for small or large groups. Great outdoor seating areas with perfect sunset views to the close and far away mountains to the west. Very quiet for being so close in to town. Only 7-8 minutes into the square, and highway access through Tesuque to the north.

The owners provide all the bedding, towels, and cooking items you would ever need to feel right at home. Any issues that came up on the property was quickly remedied by the in town caretaker, or the owners themselves. The wifi access worked great, and was appreciated by all those checking mail, and deciding which restaurants to try next. Our favorites were Geronimo, Café Café, Bert's Burger Bowl, Tia Sophia's and Cowgirl. Many more to choose from as well.

Don't hesitate to book this beautiful home for your next trip to Santa Fe !

ENCHANTED CHRISTMAS IN SANTA FE

  • 5 of 5
1-5-13 We've been to Santa Fe before but always stayed in a hotel, and were very curious what the houses were like. The house was beautiful, and we loved the adobe style. We had our son, daughter, daughter in-law and her parents. We enjoyed spending time together sitting comfortably in the family room with a cozy fire. We loved the big dining table, and the well stocked kitchen. The hot tub was a big hit too. We joined the throngs for the Canyon Road gallery crawl on Christmas Eve, and it was so festive, and everyone was in such a jolly mood! The house was perfect, and Holly was a pleasure to
work with. We wished we could have stayed longer! We highly recommend it, and we'd love to come
back.

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!

  • 5 of 5
Greetings:

My wife had a milestone birthday this year and I surprised her with a vacation to Santa Fe and a hot air balloon ride at the fiesta in Albuquerque. We traveled with my wife's family (parents, 2 siblings and their spouses, and our 2 young daughters). I inquired about this property for 2 reasons (pictures/description and the reviews). I ended up choosing it for those reasons plus the kind, thoughtful, and responsiveness of Holly (owner). Holly's hospitality was first class all the way. She was extremely hospitable and invested extra time and energy in responding to all of my questions and going out of her way to make this a special trip for us (i.e provided back-n-play for our daughter, bday napkins/candles for a celebration, information about the area, to name just a few!). She thought of every detail and was extremely timely in her responses without exception.

With that said, the house itself was absolutely incredible and exactly as described (even better)! The pictures are nice, but it just doesn't do the house justice. Everything about the home is beautiful, warm, and cozy (fire every night). It's very spacious and the dining table is perfect for families, friends, etc. The home is private, elevated in the hills, and the views are amazing and very picturesque. It's located a very short drive to downtown Santa Fe and only an hour to Albuquerque.

We were truly saddened to leave at the end of our vacation week, but we have great memories of our time in Santa Fe and our stay at Holly's home. We would go back to this house again without question and fully recommend it to anyone visiting the Santa Fe area (especially families, friends, couples, etc.).

We hope to make it back some day.

BEAUTIFUL PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
We (two families with teen agers) spent a week in this beautiful, enchanting, generously appointed, well-decorated, and comfortable home. So beautifully designed! The kitchen is so well stocked with every cooking tool that we chose to stay in and cook most nights and eat al fresco on the patio overlooking the hills as the sun set. We enjoyed coffee every morning on the front patio or the sweet little back patio. The hot tub was a delight, especially to view the night sky. So much thought and effort has been put into the landscaping that it was a delight every time we walked the pathway to and from the house. The owners left several books with detailed information about restaurants, museums, hikes, and other fun things to do around Santa Fe. We found these books to be very helpful. This house was so well located for all of our excursions. We were able to visit the museums and plaza in Santa Fe, the opera, flea market and take day trips to Los Alamos, Taos, and Ojo Calientes. There is wonderful hiking nearby! We loved Tesuque Village Market and Gabriel's Restaurant, just to mention a few. We hope to return again to enjoy this exquisite home which reflects the love and care that the owners have for it and their guests. Thanks!

AMAZING!!

  • 5 of 5
This is a long overdue review for our amazing stay at Casa del Sol in Santa Fe
over New Years 2011! I am now researching another trip in a different part of
the world and as I realize how much I am relying on travelers' reviews I wanted
to be sure to let potential Santa Fe tourists know what a wonderful experience
we had staying in this Santa Fe home! We are a family of seven, a mom and dad
type and 5 adult age children including one married daughter with her husband.
The home was perfectly suited for the seven of us. It could not have been
better. My husband and I are now thinking about building our own home and we
often refer to the floorplan of the Santa Fe home as it was a perfect
combination of privacy and together time. We happened to be there during one of
the coldest winters ever and even found ourselves snowed in so we spent much
more time indoors than we expected!! So how thankful we were to be together in
this beautiful home! We played board games in front of the fire, enjoyed the
morning with the birds at the kitchen window, loved the views, had snowball
fights in the front yard, walked to Bishops Lodge and when we could traverse the
ice we ventured out into town! The home is perfectly appointed and we all loved
the kitchen! It is truly amazing. I can't think of anything that was lacking. We
especially loved the spacious and open area off the kitchen. I can remember
sitting on the very comfortable leather sofa playing a board game with my son,
daughter and son-in-law and glancing over to the dining room table to see my
oldest son and husband hunkered down on their computers and my daughter doing
the same at the breakfast table adjoining the den. (Great access to internet by
the way!) Even though we were all doing different things we were still together
in the same room! It's a magical home and one that we would recommend without
reservation! We can't wait to go back!

The house and property are situated in an expansive and stunning natural environment perfect for enjoying the outdoors at all levels of activity, from vigorous and challenging to quiet walking and observing. Hiking on the property and nearby trails is a favorite activity of guests. The house and grounds offer privacy, comfort and relaxation. Birdwatching, perfect for all ages, is a special treat and can provide hours of entertainment. Venture out for the Opera, close by, and to the road to the Ski Basin, just a very short drive for a beautiful outdoor adventure all seasons of the year. Just north of the house are destinations most visitors to Santa Fe never see: galleries, a sculpture garden and foundry, a glass blowing studio and a Southwestern cafe and market, a favorite of the locals. And just south of the house, the Plaza is just a quick and direct drive (no turns).
