|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
On top of Davis Mountain, 'Heaven's Door Step' is located in a secluded acres in a rural area above the Laurel Park just west of Hendersonville off Hwy. 64 on the way to Brevard and the Pisgah National Forest.
Our home features a large rustic tiled, screened deck with working natural stone fireplace (with a generous supply of cut wood) surrounded by our newly planted orchard and 'Frazier Family Fir Tree Farm'. The twenty mile view extends toward Asheville and beyond. We have recently added a hot tub where you can sit and see the mountains while in the spa. The area is relaxing with almost as many wakers, joggers, dog walkers, and just plain 'walk for the view' strollers than cars.
The rising sun will greet you each morning and put you to bed each evening.
Well, that's just about it. Obviously, we enjoy 'Heaven's Door Step' and believe you will too. Call if you have any questions or concerns. We would love to chat awhile.

Our mountain home has been our family since 1990, when my parents purchased it. We purchased from them in 2003 and enjoyed it so much we decided to rent it out for others to enjoy.
Carol & Dennis Frazier purchased this cottage in 1990
Our home is a vintage brick ranch built in 1958 by a developer or builder named Mr Fell and was part of the McCarson farm. The second owner was Clio Wortman, who was a popular architect in Fla. He designed one of the buildings in Main street Hendersonville. My parents bought it from him in 1990. The legend is the wife of the first owner liked the view from the hill where the house was going to built, that she described it as being at 'heaven's doorstep.' So we decided to give it that name.
We have built a beautiful 20x25 screened porch with a stone fireplace, with a slate patio floor. You can enjoy meals while looking at the mts and listening to the birds and the quietness.
It sits upon a hill on 1.25 acres with lots of greenery and stonework.
There are multiple swings for your enjoyment and a bonfire pit in the back.
A new addition of a hot tub outside the sliding glass doors takes in the view of the mountains.
We really enjoyed our stay. Heavens Doorstep provided all we needed. The screened porch was spectacular and we enjoyed sitting by the fire and visiting each evening.
Everything was perfect for our cold-weather stay. I was a little nervous when we walked in and it was 60 inside, but the heat had been off. The heat pump only heats the kitchen/dining/living, but there are several space heaters for the bedrooms. PLUS, the living room has gas logs, which we used, and then we even made a big fire out on the covered/screened patio one night.
Check-in/check-out was a breeze. Carol gave us all the info needed. She let us check in early, and we could have stayed later on check-out day if we had wanted since no one was behind us.
All in all, a great stay.
We really enjoyed staying at Heaven's Doorstep! It was clean and as described in the listing. We did not have any problems other than a blender that should have been there somehow had disappeared but we easily solved that problem with a stop at a consignment store in Hendersonville! We really enjoyed the fireplace on the beautiful porch and the gas fireplace indoors. On Saturday we took in a local festival in downtown Hendersonville and on Sunday we went on a waterfall tour in DuPont Forest. The leaves were not at their peak color but we could literally see them changing in the two short days we were there! We had a wonderful meal Friday evening at Kelsey's in Hendersonville and Saturday evening the delivery guy from Papa John's Pizza actually found us! I would definitely recommend this place to others! A great getaway weekend!
The porch is as beautiful as the pictures indicate. We had wonderful evenings enjoying the porch. The house itself is quite "quirky" and not always in a good way: middle bedroom contains washer and dryer and must be walked through to get to bathroom 2 and bedroom 3; carpet is lumpy in places and stained; good smelling stuff sitting around could not overcome mildew and other smells; there was a lack of good information regarding the house and where to find items we needed. (I looked for some time before I found the promised towels stuffed in a closet in the living room behind several vaccum cleaners. We chose not to them.) Make sure you ask lots of questions before renting. (Note that there is no air conditioning.) If you or members of your group have sensitivities to dust, mold or mildew, you might want to consider a different rental.
Our rustic brick cabin on top of Davis Mountain (3200') west of Hendersonville, NC, in the Laurel Park area off of Hwy 64. The view! The quiet solitude and a colony of abino squirrels! The majestic trees in every direction! The hot tub! Our natural stone working fireplace on the rustic tile 20'x25' screened porch!
We overlook the Laurel Park valley and Asheville and beyond. Hendersonville is 10 min. away at the foot of the mountain, Asheville is to the north, Brevard is 16 minutes west, and historical Flat Rock (with the NC theatre & Carl Sandburg home) is 12 minutes south; each area unique with all of their restaurants, antiques, wineries, farmers markets, museums, library, apple farms, theatre, historic sites. Pisgah National Forest is a short 15 minutes west. Mon Shine
Your only problem will be leaving. And you will not want to come back down the mountain once you arrive; so, get your groceries at Ingles in Laurel Park before you come up.. Your only other problem will be attempting to remove family members from one of the six wooden swings on the one and half acre property in order to eat, sleep, or travel. But, you can always come back anytime you want.
Last year we planted our muscadine orchard, continued planting our 'Frazier Family Frasier Fir Tree Farm' and installed a stone entrance; and you are in the middle of it all. In fact, you are welcome to tag one of the Christmas trees and come back for it this Christmas.
We have continued the orginal owner's tradition of calling our home, 'Heaven's Door Step'. You feel suspended between heaven and earth. The rising sun will greet you over the east ridge each morning and put you to sleep each night as it sets over the west ridge and you can watch all 180 degrees of it.
You will see more walkers, joggers, and dog walkers on the Brightwater Road than cars. Some folks just stand and watch the spectacular views and changing sun sets. In the winter, Turley Falls is visible along the road.
Well, that is about it. It would be our plum pleasing pleasure to personally answer any questions or concerns. Just give us a call; 1-803-517-9815, any time.
We truly dnjoy 'Heaven's Door Step' and think you will too.
