Photos and Description of the Bartlett vacation cabin rental
2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6 with pull out sofa

We would love to have you visit our secluded riverfront home in the heart of Mount Washington Valley. “Lost on the River” is a slice of heaven on the east branch of the Saco River. Situated on the end of a private road less than 10 minutes to North Conway, this is a wonderful “out of the way location, close to everything” in the middle of all the White Mountains have to offer – hiking, golf, Storyland, outlet shopping, skiing, snowmobiling, fly fishing or taking a refreshing dip in the river in front our house. This area is also home to some of the best motorcycle riding in all of New England.

Our cabin is perfect for couples and small families who enjoy the tranquility of a remote riverfront location yet appreciate the amenities of a fully functional house. It is clean and comfortable with many ‘little extras” – fireplace, full kitchen, washer/dryer, HDTV, DVD, wireless broadband, free telephone, stereo, gas grill, as well as a riverfront fire pit.

Your dog is welcome with prior approval and an additional pet fee.

Summer and Fall: Start off your day with breakfast on the front porch overlooking the riverfront, pack a lunch and hike around nearby Mountain pond, come back and relax by the fire pit on the river, and then fall to sleep with the sound of the river outside your bedroom window…..

About Brenda Stein and Damon Burchill

We live on Cape Cod and met about 7 years ago. We were married at this property in 2010. In 2011 we became custodial grandparents to 2 beautiful girls (3&8), and now do not have the opportunity to visit as often as we used to..... So we have decided to share our property with others who will appreciate the very special location.

Brenda Stein and Damon Burchill purchased this cabin in 2008
Why Brenda Stein and Damon Burchill chose Bartlett

We knew we wanted to buy in the North Conway area, and had been looking at a lot of 'cookie cutter' houses.... Our 1st priority was location - even if we had to build. When the realtor drove us up to this house, we both knew the second we stepped out of the car we had found what we were looking for!! And the fact that we had a fully functioning house was a dream come true!!! We are sure that you will feel the same!!

What a wonderful, relaxing cabin. We loved the rustic feel of the cabin, the privacy and hearing the river in the evening. Drinking coffee on the porch in the morning, and enjoying a few brews in the evening after hiking - perfect!

We can hardly wait to go back!

Perfect Experience

For anyone out there that has any reservations about this little cabin, have no fear. This place rocks. Perfectly secluded at the end of a mountain road. Awesome views of the river a mere 30 feet from the back porch. Tranquil setting. Super clean and cozily furnished house. As I look at the picture of the cabin next to this review, I badly wish I was back there already.

Brenda was extremely helpful with all aspects of our stay. The firewood is provided, which is just one less thing to worry about. You can either make a fire in their wood burning stove, or do a little bon fire out back. Perhaps I got a little carried away when I undertook digging out the fire pit next to the river, after what appeared to be 3 or 4 layers of snow and ice. I would recommend just sticking to the fire place until the snow melts. I guess I just got caught up in the moment at this awesome little getaway.

Not only is this place awesome, but it also has all the amenities of a modern house.

My family wants to be back there now.

Thanks again Brenda.

At the risk of sounding like an infomercial, I cannot say enough good things about this vacation home. We live about 3 hours away and visit New Hampshire regularly. We are so happy to have found this place.

The experience started with Brenda contacting us and giving all the information that we could ever need. We had no problems at all with the house but I am sure that if we had, they would have been addressed promptly. The first thing I noticed is that the place is super-clean. Brenda called us shortly after we arrived to make sure that we were settled in and didn't need anything.

Four adults and a two-year old stayed there for 2 nights. It was very cold outside but the cabin was cozy and warm inside. We bought food at the nearby market and cooked both nights and mornings we were there. The kitchen had everything we needed. We even used the gas grill on the sheltered back porch. The only thing we had to do to kid-proof is put one of the kitchen chairs in front of the basement door so my granddaughter did not decide to go downstairs on her own. You could also bring one of those doorknob guards if you have a small child. There were some stuffed animals that immediately became my granddaughters "friends" and some other toys that kept her happy.

The TV is has a DVR and a DVD player attached. My granddaughter loved watching a "Dora the Explorer" movie that was at the house and later we watched the Super Bowl. Very comfortable. There is also a stereo next to the front door. I can see enjoying music and cocktails on that great front porch in warmer weather. Beds and bedding are ultra-comfortable. We did not try out the sofa bed because there was enough room in the bedroom for my granddaughter to "camp out" in a sleeping bag on the floor. She loved that!

The location is great. We went skiing and tubing at one of the nearby resorts on our only full day there and on the day we left, we had lunch at one of the many great restaurants.

The river in the front yard is SPECTACULAR and there was at least one trail leading directly from the house upriver. I cannot wait to explore the area on foot when we come back again for a longer visit. Since it is the last house on the road, it is very private.

To wrap up, my husband and I wanted to go back the following weekend alone but it was already booked :(

We will definitely be coming back to "Lost on the River". It is our kind of place. Rustic and, oh, so comfortable.

The 5 of us (parents + 3 kids ages 11, 12 and 14) plus our dog had a great stay at "Lost on the River". The place was just as described, impeccably clean, very cozy and we felt at home right from the start. It is the last house on the road, so you actually feel you are all alone in the forest. The trail behind the house was long enough to do a 1 hour snowshoeing excursion during a snowstorm that we just loved. Kids also appreciated the wi-fi connexion, of course! There is plenty of covers and heating works just fine, so no need to pack thermal underwear, unless you plan to wear it outside. The fireplace gave us quite a few moments to enjoy as well. The roads are super well kept and it was extremely easy to drive on it even just a few hours after the storm was over (being from Quebec we did have our winter tires on). Brenda was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to spend some relaxing vacations. Being a few minutes away from North Conway and its outlets also allowed for some good shopping :)
