Photos and Description of the Camden vacation chateau / country house rental
4 bedrooms, sleep 8, 4 sitting/lounge areas, pool room, 3 bathrooms

The Rockport Schoolhouse is at the top of diamond hill just up from Rockport Village centrally located 5 minutes from Camden. The Schoolhouse is a nautical marker with extensive ocean and valley views, newly renovated 3 years ago and offers wide open spaces and more sitting and lounge areas than bedrooms, including a large pool room. There is a front garden and BBQ, 2 large wrap around verandahs with outside seating and lounge. Fully equipped kitchen, laundry room and all modern conveniences. This historic building has a modern architectural interior with big open spaces, double doors open onto verandahs at the front as do all the bedrooms and living area on the first and second floor. There are long views through the house and out into the landscape and ocean. The master bedroom at the top of the house has a triangle of glass as the front wall with spectacular views The house is luxuriously appointed. The four bedrooms sleep 8.

The back of the schoolhouse is a separate residence with their own entrance on summer st.

About Brenda Morlet

The schoolhouse was a wonderful looking building even before we renovated, we fell in love with the house and the local people and decided to move to Rockport. We could moor our boat in the harbour in summer and we loved the extreme winter weather. We moved in after renovations were complete in 2010. We had the best building experience with our fabulous architect Peter Gross and wonderful contractor Lew Sukeforth. We were very lucky and creating the new renovated version of the schoolhouse was very exciting. We could not have hoped for a better outcome and the house is totally unique for the area with lots of open space, a wood fire for winter which actually heats 2 floors and in summer this place is magical.

Why Brenda Morlet chose Camden

We chose this location after sailing the entire coast up from NY and Camden/Rockport had the most beautiful harbours along this coast. Rockport at one time was nominated on a travel site the most beautiful harbour in the USA. Rockport Village has the working harbour, swimming, nice restaurants but is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of camden.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The house is luxurious, open plan, massive with spectacular views, wonderful neighbourhood, quiet street and is centrally located right above Rockport Harbour and 5 minute drive to Camden. The property has character within an architectural space, it's a beautiful building in a perfect location.

The Rockport Schoolhouse is located on the hill overlooking Rockport Village with extensive views over the harbour and Penobscot Bay. Camden is a 5 minute drive. We have a Beachamp Point walk around the harbour through the forrest to the golf course. There are numerous places to swim along this path. We have Indian Island out on the point, which you can get to by canoe or longboard.
