Unique points of interest exist, but it is very rare to find them all in the same place: The Douce Loire holiday cottage is one very special place: view of the Loire in a Unesco World Heritage listed region, in the regional Natural Park of Anjou Touraine, within the most prestigious Châteaux of the Loire Valley (Chinon, Saumur, Villandry, Langeais, Fontevraud Abbey, Azay le Rideau, Ussé and further east, Chenonceau, Amboise, Cheverny, Chambord, etc.

A bargeman's house, built on the bank of the Loire river, in the heart of the village of Chouzé sur Loire (choice land) with shops, doctors... but also located on the wine route (in the controlled designation origin vineyards of St Nicolas de Bourgueil and Bourgueil) Close to the Loire river by bike (from Port Boulet - 3 kms away) and near the hiking trails and footpaths.

Built in 1800, this fisherman's house, behind its modest façade, is decorated with care and taste, it is comfortable, small but with a charming private garden (30 sqm), balcony, terrace from which you can enjoy the view of the Loire. 50 metres away from the house, the Chouzé harbour, built when the seawalls were used to cultivate wicker, lines up old white and rose façades. It is a very special place, filled with a characteristic sweetness. You can ride your bike or go for a walk along the Loire River for several kilometres. No private parking at Douce Loire but parking nearby.

About Elisabeth Minier

In Cheillé, near Azay le Rideau, fifteen years ago, we opened a charming Bed&Breakfast called 'La Grande Bleue'. We really wanted to welcome guests in a house that could be theirs for a week or two or even more. Wish accomplished. At the end of 2011, we found the perfect place near Bourgueil in Chouzé sur Loire. It has been love at first sight with this beautiful house of the Loire region and environment. We did not happen to know that such a place existed in Touraine, this small harbour is stunning. In January 2012, we started restoring this very typical fisherman's house located 50 metres away (walking) from the harbour. The view of the Loire River from the balcony and the terrace, the beautiful spiral staircase dismantled in 1800, the old post office and the Loire River make this house full of charm a perfect place to stay. We have been working all year and also decided to get classified as a guarantee by a recognised organisation. We have been rewarded 4 stars for our holiday cottage! We are eager to know what you think of it!

There are many activities to discover in the area around the Châteaux and other cultural visits for kids and adults: biking, hiking, nature, wine of the Loire Valley...

  • Children of less than 2 years old are not counted in the sleeping capacity. There is no extra charge.

    conditions (see with the owner), especially in low and middle season.
