Our beautiful, spacious full-log home is like getting 2 homes in one, with 3800+ square feet and two distinct living spaces, including 2 kitchens (perfect for the families who want to vacation together, but not be on top of each other!) You can sprawl out in this log home with 6 bedrooms, plus 2 lofts, 2 great rooms with fireplaces, 2 kitchens, massive deck overlooking lake, private dock with beach and use of 2 boats and fishing gear, 2 firepits (one woodburning, one propane) large outdoor sauna with private dressing room, sand volleyball court, tetherball, hammock…and the list goes on!
Take a deep breath of clean mountain air in this classic Colorado setting on secluded 1 acre lakefront lot with towering pine, aspen groves, brilliant wildflowers and soaring white-cap mountain views. Our mountain property offers total peaceful seclusion, yet is only 5 minutes from downtown Grand Lake, and approx 90 minutes from Denver!
So much to do on or within walking distance to this property! Relax on our private dock and small sandy beach, and catch record-breaking trout anywhere in the quiet, non-motorized Sun Valley Lake. Guests enjoy full use of our canoe, pedal boat, kayak, inner tubes, life vests and fishing gear! (lake is stocked with record-breaking trout each spring) As a guest of our neighborhood you also have exclusive private access for fly-fishing on the Colorado River located 1/4 mile from front door. Property has abundant wildlife and is natural habitat for Moose (Moose calves are born along our lake every spring). Watch the Moose graze along the pristine mountain lake shoreline--just a few feet away from the deck! Elk, Deer, Fox, Otter, Beaver, Bear, Osprey, Hummingbirds are also frequent visitors!
Grab a mountain bike (2 provided) and hit the trails for an early morning ride, or wander out the door and explore miles of hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. Take a nap in the hammock in the afternoon breeze. Paddle the lake at sunset as the trout are jumping and the alpenglow appears on the mountains. Roast marshmallows in the private lakeside firepit under a brilliant star-filled sky.
You can also ride your ATV or snowmobile right from your driveway to 200+ miles of groomed trails in the adjacent Arapahoe forest, (trailhead located 1/4 mile from house, snowmobiles and ATV's available for rent). A resort at the end of our road offers horses for rent and guided trail rides through Rocky Mountain National Park. Our spacious property has room for parking your ATV/snowmobile trailers.
The warmth of hand-hewn natural log is everywhere, brightened by the soaring 25 ft ceilings in the main great room with a huge wall of windows overlooking the lake and mountains. Home is tastefully decorated with comfortable, classic, mountain lodge decor. Explore the extensive library of books, DVD's, video games and board games, wrap yourself in a cozy blanket and find one of the many quiet nooks in this home to snuggle in a chair by the fire, let go, and relax!
Sleeping arrangements are comfortable, convenient and private, with 6 bedrooms plus 2 additional loft sleeping areas. Two master suites (one main level, one upper level, both with king beds), 3 queen bedrooms (one main level, two upper level), 1 large bunk room (main level) with 2 twin/queen bunk beds, loft with queen futon, 2nd loft with queen sleeper sofa and 2 convertible twin beds. All beds have high quality brand new mattresses, exceptionally soft sheets, fluffy down comforters and pillows and plenty of extra warm blankets and quilts.
With 2 fully-stocked kitchen areas (2 stoves, 2 refrigerators, 2 crock pots, 2 coffee pots) and 1 large main eating area inside plus a large outdoor deck with patio furniture and large gas grill you can cook a casual feast! We provide coffee, coffee filters, tea, popcorn, basic condiments, spices and all basic cooking/baking utensils and kitchen conveniences.
The wonderful, friendly town of Grand Lake offers a full-service marina where you can rent pontoon boats and jet-skis, and there's a great family beach. Wander the downtown 'boardwalk' and explore numerous local art galleries, gift shops, restaurants, ice-cream shops...and some of the best mini-golf in Colorado! A large grassy central park offers a great picnic spot and great playground area for the kids. Grand Lake is also known for it's fine live theatre productions, check out the summertime drama productions!
