Photos and Description of the Asti vacation villa rental
Beautiful self-catering villa, four bedrooms, lovely pool, quiet, sunny location

La Casa Pietra is an old farmhouse in a quiet sunny location in the Bormida Valley, lovingly renovated with the original stone facades and vaulted ceilings restored and all services and fittings modernised, to create a stunning home that provides comfort and style in a tranquil setting.

The property can accommodate up to 8 adults and 6 children, with 4 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 shower rooms, a large kitchen/dining room, comfortable living room and TV room/playroom/study. The floors are tiled throughout, all external windows and doors are double-glazed and have traditional wooden shutters. Two of the bedrooms have their own balconies and there is an ensuite bedroom which has French windows opening on to the courtyard. La Casa Pietra has an attractive garden, with shrubs, fruit trees, a covered terrace and two other outside eating areas. There is a lovely swimming pool 12m x 6m, built in 2011 and suitable for families with children, as well as a large trampoline and swings.

Wine Routes: The Province of Asti has several wine routes, through historic villages and vineyards. One of these routes - the Langa Astigiana - takes in Bubbio and circles the hills surrounding Casa Pietra, where you can see several castles and towers as well as farms specialising in goats cheese production, chestnuts, fruits and medicinal herbs. In the hilly terrain of the Langa Astigiana there are many nature trails and paths.

The local village, Bubbio is only 10-15 minutes walk away and is a charming village with some shops, cafes and a couple of restaurants. The village centre has a lovely green space with a little playground overlooked by the outside terrace of the local auberge. You can also find banks, a post office and bakery.

The nearest large supermarket is 15 minutes drive away in the historic town of Acqui Terme, which has a good fresh fish counter, plenty of meats and all the food you will need. It also has many household and garden goods, toys and even some clothes.

The historic and beautiful town of Acqui Terme, 15 minutes drive away, is very much worth a visit during your stay. Lovingly restored by the Italian government in recent years, the town originated in Roman times and was built around a natural hot spring, which you can see bubbling up in a beautiful square in the town centre. This is a lovely place to come and wander around the shops and twice-weekly market, have lunch in and see the fine architecture and peaceful squares.

Walking in the hills around Bubbio is another lovely way to spend some time. There are several local walking routes meandering between villages, showing you the local flora and fauna and beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Another local favourite is cycling. The house is in a flat part of the river valley, but with pleasant hills a short walk/ride away. If you or your children like mountain biking, our neighbour runs a small mountain biking school where you can hire bikes, go on a lesson or take a guided ride in the surrounding countryside.

Through our nearest neighbour we are also able to offer walking tours, wine tours, road cycling tours and other activities. If you would like to consider this, please email the owner and I can put you in touch. Alternatively go to www.outdoorlive.it.

A day at the beach is another option; about an hour's drive away is the coast between Genoa and Savona, with many beaches to choose from. Genoa also has some attractions, including a large sea life centre and restored ancient port.

Dream Italian Retreat

5 of 5
Submitted: October 5, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
My husband and I joined a group of friends for the perfect Italian escape in this amazing villa. Located in a spectacular valley and surrounded by beautiful countryside, Casa Pietra still manages to be easily accessible to most of the region's most charming towns and villages. The villa itself is simply gorgeous and equipped with everything you could possibly need - far better than our own house in fact! I particularly appreciated having enough bathrooms for privacy - always tricky to find for a big group. The huge swimming pool was a hit with both adults and kids alike and nothing beat opening a cold bottle of delicious wine whilst sitting on the shady veranda. We're planning our next trip already...

Very peaceful

5 of 5
Submitted: September 19, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
We stayed for just a few days in August. The villa is well-laid out, with a particularly conducive sheltered outdoor dining space which I am sure was specifically designed for long lazy lunches! Set amongst vineyards with views over fields and the town of Bubbio a short distance away, it is a very peaceful, gentle place to escape to. I would also recommend a visit to the ancient spa town of Aqui Thermi, 20 mins by car.

Wonderful Place to Stay

5 of 5
Submitted: September 17, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
We stayed at La Casa Pietra for a week in August 2012 and it is a beautiful place to stay.

The villa has everything that you could possible want and more! The interior is modern, spotlessly clean, well maintained and very comfortable. There is a lot of outside space with a fantastic pool, a lovely seating area, outside dinning space and large lawns. The surrounding area is simply beautiful, it's very peaceful and very private. It's a traditional, rural Italian location which made it ideal for a relaxing getaway.

We hired a car and took advantage of the surrounding region visiting many towns and villages in Piedmont such as Alba and Aqui de Terme which were both worth the visit. The region is stunning, very Italian and not over-crowded.

I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone considering taking a holiday there, you will not be disappointed.

Visit to La Casa Pietra

5 of 5
Submitted: September 9, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
I spent 10 days at La Casa Pietra and found it a perfect place for a holiday. It was immaculately clean with plenty of places to sit both in the sun and the shade.
It is in beautiful countryside but a car is a must.
There is a residential English caretaker who is unobtrusive but very knowledgeable about the local scene. The beds were comfortable and would be ideal for families

Perfect in everyway!!

Im not in the habit of writing reviews but i have to say we were blown away with our summer hols in Bubbio. Genoa airport small and easy, so out the door in 15 mins. Hire car company friendly, 2 mins out of airport and your on the main rd. Drive up was easy the wonderful pool drew me in before bags were out of car.
Its very quiet and peaceful just on the outskirts of the village, with easy access to all we needed. The house feels more like someones holiday home rather than a rental. Super clean with a layout thats clearly had a lot of thought go into it. Attention to detail is an understatement, the kitchen is fully equipped and no one has to wait for a toilet or bathroom. Having all your creature comforts catered for made this a most relaxed and easy week. We managed to drag ourselves out for a couple of trips, check out lunch in the village restaurant, they really made a fuss of us. The local vineyard also worth a visit as they also looked after us very well indeed. There's a massive gas BBQ and we got some incedibly good quality steaks locally so if you like your food and wine the area is well stocked. Mosquitos were strangely scarce. The children had loads to do with good size pool, trampoline, and of course the large tv. As you can see i liked it. We're going back next year. Hamish Norwell
