Casa Merdeka is our beautifully renovated and luxuriously furnished C18th farmhouse home It is set in 10 acres of carefully groomed land and irrigated gardens on the edge of S'Albufera Ecological Park, totally peaceful and private. The magnificent harbour of Mahon and its shops and restaurants can be reached in 10 minutes by car. Es Grau, a sheltered Spanish fishing village with a long safe,sandy beach is 7 minutes away. On site there is a large L-shaped swimming pool with Roman steps at the shallow end,a paved orchard, a water garden with lily pond and fountains, extensive shaded areas for outside eating or lounging and,for the energetic, a volley ball court and a field suitable for cricket or football. The Cottage is totally separate and secluded. It accommodates 6 people in quiet luxury. The Master suite with king size double bed has dressing room/shower and there are 2 other twin bedrooms sharing a bath/shower It is approached via a private driveway and has its own swimming pool

We have owned our magnificent Menorcan home since 1994 and have spent a lot of love, time, effort and money on bringing this lovely C18th century farm house into the present millennium without losing its essential charm. It is a wonderful place to relax or entertain with lots of space for everyone to have their own space and yet be part of the whole. It is a single storey building with each bedroom opening through patio doors onto terraces and views giving everyone a feeling of privacy and peace. We love it. We hope you will too

Our farmhouse is equidistant between attractions and facilities of Mahon, the capital of Menorca, and Es Grau, a delightful, authentic,'underdeveloped' small fishing village. Here you find a long safe sandy beach fringing a very shallow water bay, ideal for small children or anyone who wants to try their hand at windsurfing or dinghy sailing. Equipment for these sports can be hired off the beach in summer. Es Grau also has small bars and restaurants and a friendly supermarket. By contrast the magnificent natural harbour of Mahon, steeped in history boasts spectacular architecture, has numerous excellent restaurants and bars along the waterfront and a lovely quality shopping centre. Numerous accessible supermarkets are located on the fringes of the town where parking is easy. Yacht charters,boat hire and sea trips can be booked from here. Around the farmhouse our area is totally protected and is a haven for birds. There is a good walk down to the coast and along to Cala Mesquida.

Notes: Around the grounds and on extensive terrace areas are shady places where sympathetically placed seating can be enjoyed in the heat of the day or you may wish to sunbathe on a lounger by the pool. For dining in the farmhouse a large refectory table easily seats 10, but during the summer all eating is done outside around a large, tiled table under an extensive,shaded pergola where 16 can be seated. There is a BBQ and full bar which services this area. At night all the terraces, pool area and grounds are softly illuminated. Full laundry facilities are housed in a separate laundry with extensive drying areas

A welcome pack of essential supplies will be there for you when you arrive. Our house manager, Pimms, will be up to see you soon after you arrive. She has been resident on the island for over 20 years and will be able to answer all your questions and queries. Janine & Hugh look after our property on a day-to day basis and will ensure that everything is in pristine condition for when you arrive . Janine will do a mid-week clean and linen change for you and is always able to babysit if required A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking with the balance due 6 weeks before departure
