2 bedrooms (1 master bedroom and 1 loft) sleeps up to 6, 1 full bathroom

Property is located within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakshore, close to hiking trails and beaches. The Village of Empire is just a couple of miles up M-22 for restaurants, coffee and shopping. Enjoy all that Leelanau County has to offer, fruit stands, rivers for kayaking and amazing dune bluffs for views of Lake Michigan.

Sit on the front porch or by the campfire and enjoy open views of nature and historic Leelanau County. The house has one master bedroom with king size bed and an open loft upstairs with three beds (2 twin and 1 full size). There is a full size kitchen with cookware, living room, and one full bathroom. A laundry room includes a washer and dryer for you to use. At this time we offer satalite TV with local and family channels. If you do need to unwind and watch a movie we do provide a TV and DVD player in living room and master bedroom, with numerous DVDs for you to enjoy. We provide towels but do not provide bed linens nor pillows, please bring bed linens and pillows with you. Outdoor seating and a charcoal grill are available.

Traverse City is a nice 25 minute drive away for a more urban experience. Hiking trails and beaches are within walking / biking distance from the house.

A little gem

This rental exceeded our expectations. While the house is not on the water, it is beautifully located only a few minutes from just about everything: beaches/lakes/restaurants. We had a great view of the stunning fall colors from the porch. Had the weather been warmer and nicer, we would have taken advantage of all that the property has to offer.

Inside, the house was spotless and well-maintained, with everything one might need to have a comfortable and fun stay--well, maybe it could use a teapot :) We don't have kids, but this would be a great place for kids: plenty of toys/games in the house, and lots of space to run around and play outside.

The owner is friendly, responding promptly to emails/phone calls and eager to ensure that guests have a good experience. We feel very lucky to have come across this listing; we couldn't be happier with our stay!

Charming, peaceful oasis

We craved getting away to a quiet beautiful area free of the hustle bustle. This truly fit the bill, and then some. The house was sweet and location lovely. Rental was a breeze to set up and offered all that it claimed.

People in this area are incredibly kind, helpful, and happy. They have an obvious respect for the environment and the treasure that they inhabit.

Sleeping Bear Dunes had so much to offer and we took full advantage of the uncrowded beaches with the most beautiful water and sand, wineries, hiking trails, good food and fun. Clean clean clean--uncluttered by any commercial nonsense.

We found ourselves discussing "next time" while there. Will look forward to another peaceful visit.

Peaceful and comfortable!

This rental is a gem. My boyfriend and I were beyond pleased with our stay. The property is tucked just far enough from M-22 to feel private and peaceful yet you're still so close to everything. The view is absolutely beautiful, especially as the sun sets. I immediately felt comfortable in this clean cottage. Slept like a baby on the king-size waterbed. We did a lot of sight-seeing on our week-long vacation but my fondest memories are just sitting by the campfire watching the sunset. The owner was wonderful to work with and readily available when I called him with a question. Empire is such a sweet little village. Do check out the Empire Area Museum! For a lesser-known (no crowds!) and very pleasant short excursion, search for info on the Tweddle and Treat abandoned farms on nps.gov/slbe. Tweddle is a 1/2 mile from the cottage and Treat is a 1/2 mile further down a lovely wooded trail. We truly were sad to leave and hope to return to this superb vacation rental!

Great choice for a stay in Leelanau

My partner and I really enjoyed staying at this cottage on our annual visit to Leelanau this year. The cottage is in a great location just outside Empire in a very private and quiet spot. We love the beaches and hiking in Sleeping Bear Dunes, and the location of the house was perfect for getting to those activities. We took the owner's recommendation and went to Bohemian Road Beach for the first time-and it was spectacular. We also loved sitting in the front yard of the house with a glass of wine and marveling at the beautiful night sky complete with shooting stars. The cottage was very clean, had everything we needed, and the owners were very helpful and easy to work with. A great vacation value. We hope to return again.

A Great Vacation Retreat!

This is a great vacation retreat! A lovely place to get away from it all yet close to beaches and other activities. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to vacation in this area.
