My name is Geneviève. I grew up and went to school in Quebec city. I moved to Vancouver where I started my career in journalism. I fell in love with the west coast and settled in, but I always wanted to keep some ties in Quebec. I share my passion for my 'culture quebecoise' with my family. I only speak French to my daughters since they were born and I am very proud to have fully bilingual children.
Ferd Ho (en) or Genevieve Milord (en, fr, sp) purchased this condo in 2007
We bought our condo in 2007 because we thought we would settle there again but changed our mind. So we decided to keep it for our kids and rent it out. We think it would be great for the girls to have a place to live in the old city if, and when, they wish to attend a french university - and for us to use it occasionally when visiting family.
We totally fell in love with our condo on the first visit. It was also my husband's first visit to Quebec City and he thought the 'old city' with its surrounding stone fortifications and very old buildings was like walking in medieval Europe in the middle of North America - but still have his daily dose of delicious croissant and steaming espresso, two minutes walk from the condo.
It is really convenient to be able to walk to wonderful restaurants, bars, boutiques and public transport - If you like fine dining, a family member owns the restaurant Le Patriarche. Make sure you mention that you are a guest at our condo when you dine there.
During the summer, you will feel like you are right in the middle of the on-going season festivities. And in the Winter, the silence is deafening, interrupted only by the stuttering sounds of horses footsteps on ancient cobbled stones. It is also an excellent home base for Mont Sainte-Anne ski resorts and Carnival de Quebec.
We stayed at this condo for a 10 day stay with our 3 children. It was well suited to young families and has absolutely everything you need to have a wonderful stay. Having a crib was so helpful and there was a great selection of kids book as well. It is conveniently located within walking distance of everything in the downtown core. We took in the Carnival and many trips to the outdoor skating rink. It is also an easy drive to the local ski hills (between 20-40 minutes depending on the hill). The manager is extremely well organized, professional and easy to deal with. We are hoping to return again soon. If you are considering a condo in Quebec, this is the one for you!
We stayed in this great condo with our four-year-old and another family with a 2 1/2 yr old and 6 month old. This spot was perfect! Quiet but central. Everyone had plenty of room and the grownups loved having a downstairs space to relax while young ones were sleeping. A perfect walk to anything we could want: markets, restaurants, bookstores, playgrounds, landmarks etc. Convenient parking (pay per day) was a huge perk for day trips to the Mont Morency Falls and Ile d'Orlean. The unit was well represented in the photos. Ferd Ho was great to work with and very accommodating. We will definitely plan another visit soon!
We spent a week at this condo and loved each minute. Ferd was a pleasure to deal with and Diane, the property manager, was prompt and helpful. The unit is larger than the pictures indicate and was perfect for my wife and I and our toddler. With three bedrooms, it would be well suited for larger families/groups as well. The only critique I would offer is that the leather couch and recliner need to be replaced as they are peeling. Other than that, this is an excellent place to stay for a visit to Quebec. The location is perfect for access to the upper town, the lower town and the city outside the walls.
Great Condo and location. There were 4 in our party and the 1/2 bath was a great plus. We were just inside the city walls and close to a specialty grocery store and pastry shop. Ferd was great to work with and was able to accommodate us for an additional night at the last minute. If you like to walk you will get great exercise as the Plains of Abraham and citadel are within a couple blocks of the condo. Also close to other attractions within 1/2-45 minutes such as St. Anne's, the falls at St. Anne’s which we enjoyed walking. Also the parking attendants were very accommodating when we wanted to take the car out. Will stay with Ferd again....
We have beeb to Quebec before 10 years ago. This time we wanted to stay in the old town. This was the perfect place for us and our friends. Ferd communicated everything we needed to know about the rental agreement along with friendly reminders. He also sent us a list of places to shop and it was was extremly helpful. If I was going again I would arrange my trip schedule to make sure I could rent from them. Price, convienence, location, cleanliness, everything was great. I don't offen give 5 stars but they earned it.
This condo is in a great area for exploring Quebec City! We would gladly stay there again and would recommend it. Would give it a five star if the beds were more comfortable.
