view and location make up for odd apt

this apartment truly does have an amazing view, you feel like you are on the ocean, the breeze keeps it cool and the location between both forts makes a great base for exploration. it is across from la perla, which is definitely less than safe and this is not the center and safest part of old san juan but the neighborhood is so small it doesn't matter. the management was wonderful and very responsive
the TV only has spanish channels so its pointless, though HD and fancy. They should change this if possible. The hot water was very spotty, showers were usually with cold water.
the biggest issue though is the set up of the bathroom and kitchen is terrible. the kitchen has almost no space for cooking, the stove and sink in a corner, no space for the dish rack, for cutting or prepping near the stove, 2 people cannot fit in any way. there is no space for eating a meal also, we sat on balcony
the bathroom is also extremely tiny, the shower hits the toilet.
There were only 3 of us here, I would not imagine for than 4 working out at all. The beds are not very comfortable but that's fine. Given the price of OSJ, this is better than a hotel for longer stays but I would caution any larger groups looking to have plenty of space

Perfect Location in Old San Juan

My sister, brother and I traveled to PR to attend our cousin's wedding. We chose this apartment because we were looking for 3 bedrooms, and an equipped kitchen. The apartment was perfect for us. Everything is exactly as shown in the photos, very neat and a spotless kitchen, well equipped. We never got around to cooking a meal there, but had cereal, toast for breakfast, then enjoyed the sights and found interesting restaurants to eat at in the evening. It was great to open those big balcony doors in the morning and get hit with the gorgeous view. We never had a problem with noise at night, my sister used a white noise app on her iphone(there is a docking station for iphone 4 in the apt), and she had the front bedroom , with the balcony. We heard roosters during the day and thought they were charming. Wanda met us at the apartment and was easily accessible, by phone or text. Payment via paypal was easy. OSJ is a beautiful city, we spent several days walking around, exploring. We also spent several hours at each of the forts, both of which you can see from our balcony. San Cristobel is a 5 minute walk away. We did have a car, but parking on the street is nearly impossible. Wanda directed us to a parking garage about a 10-15 min walk from our apartment. We felt very safe here, there is a locked gate at the front doorway, and a deadbolt lock to our apartment. Being on the third floor did not pose a problem, nor did the lack of AC as each BR had a ceiling fan and there is a floor fan also, if needed. Going in August could be a different story. The weather was beautiful, especially being that we had missed the big snowstorm in NY! Good timing! We would definitely come back, to stay in the same apartment. All in all a great vacation!

This place was amazing! The apartment was clean and perfect for my family and friends. It is close to everything in San Juan and the views are breathtaking. We were able to stay home and cook and enjoy our balcony overlooking the ocean.

Pretty much as advertised

I spent two weeks in this apartment over the Christmas holidays. I think the title of the ad captures the essence - modern and simple. The positives: the view is exactly as pictured - you can wake up every morning and take a couple steps to look out over the ocean and feel the trade winds blow on you. I generally felt very safe as the building is secured with a locked gate and there is generally a fair amount of foot and car traffic outside. You are within a reasonable walk to everything in OSJ - I even found a laundromat with drop off service within a couple of blocks. The unit itself is stocked with tableware and some cooking utensils/cookware, a microwave, stove, fridge, and toaster. There is an HD TV but it only tunes Spanish stations and the HDMI interface is blocked by the mounting. Anytime I had an issue, the landlord addressed it very promptly. The negative: It is on the third floor so be prepared to walk up and down steep steps. There is no air conditioning. The shutters tend to flap around with the wind so while you can lock them down, that blocks the breeze. La Perla, the small development just to the north has chickens so be prepared to be woken by roosters daily. The shower/stool area is TINY and evidently OSJ sewers don't handle toilet paper well. While I was worried that putting used toilet paper in the trash can would stink it wasn't a problem (just a bit gross). The beds are by no means hotel quality so don't expect much. If you stay more than a week, I recommend having them come in to do cleaning.

Great Place, Beautiful View!!!!!!

I would like to say I loved my stay in Old San Juan, the place was nice for 4 friends trying to get away and have fun. It is not a place for a family with young kids because there is no A/C but many properties in Old San Juan lack A/C. It is an historical area right next to Fort San Cristobal and the view from the place is Gorgeous! The people are very friendly and beautiful! The staff at Vida Urbina properties are extremely nice and helpful. I would recommend staying here because it is in the heart of Old San Juan, and near everything. There is a restaurant around the corner named El Jabarito that is delicious! Besides the A/C I have no complaints about this property, Vida Urbina staff, or Puerto Rico! My whole stay was EXCELLENT!!!!!
Owner's Response: Thank you, Jerrell. We appreciate you toke the time to share your experience. Looking forward to welcome you soon again. Annett
