Peaceful Retreat

For almost two decades we’ve anticipated the turn down the short, pine scented gravel road leading to Dayton Point. At the end sits a lovely cottage on a point of land. The first thing on the agenda is the walk to the front of the cottage to take in the stunning view of Western Bay. To the left are the mountains of Acadia in the distance. In front, a rocky path leads to the shoreline at low tide. To the right is a meandering path to the sandy beach.
Inside the spotless cottage is everything one would want for a vacation including a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable queen sized bed, and a newly remodeled bath. The enclosed porch overlooking the ever changing ocean is our favorite spot with comfortable seating, a table for dining, and ceiling to floor shelves lined with books to suit any taste.
Tide pools teaming with life, loons, eagles, seals, pileated woodpeckers, deer, moose, and more have kept us entertained through the years.
If you can tear yourself away, hiking trails, the unique shops and restaurants of Acadia, and nearby Blue Hill are ready for exploration. A lobster dinner from one of the local pounds is a welcome treat after a day of meandering.
Dayton Point is truly our “paradise.” Ron and Andi
