STUNNING OCEANFRONT COTTAGE IN PRIVATE SETTING WITH VIEWS OF ACADIA NATL' PARK

Acadia National Park Cottage Rental Photos and Description

sleeps 4

This beautiful, family owned, oceanfront property boasts 400ft of private ocean frontage and is situated on 3 wooded acres. Dayton Point Cottage was purchased by my grandparents (the Daytons) in 1958 when they began summering here from Cheshire, Connecticut. . Though smaller than a house, it has all the comforts and charm of a home. It sits on its own little peninsula along one side of a cove on Western Bay, overlooking the mountains of Acadia National Park.

We recently updated the cottage with all new windows (each with an amazing ocean view), and a new bathroom (2011).

Though the cottage can sleep 6, we limit our guest capacity to 4. We are very protective of our special cottage!

The cottage sits (literally) 25 feet from the high tide mark. One can watch the tide come and go with its ever changing color and wildlife. The cove is home to many loons, osprey, eagles, seals, and porpoise. At low tide, the careful observer can see crabs, anemones, sea stars, hermit crabs, and an array of other tide pool dwellers.

Kayaks can be launched right at the beach which is down a well kept (mowed) sloping path from the cottage. Bring your own, or local rentals will deliver right to the cottage.

We are only able to offer a few available weeks per year as most are reserved for those who return to Dayton Point annually. We invite those of you have not yet been to be our guests!

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5
For almost two decades we’ve anticipated the turn down the short, pine scented gravel road leading to Dayton Point. At the end sits a lovely cottage on a point of land. The first thing on the agenda is the walk to the front of the cottage to take in the stunning view of Western Bay. To the left are the mountains of Acadia in the distance. In front, a rocky path leads to the shoreline at low tide. To the right is a meandering path to the sandy beach.
Inside the spotless cottage is everything one would want for a vacation including a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable queen sized bed, and a newly remodeled bath. The enclosed porch overlooking the ever changing ocean is our favorite spot with comfortable seating, a table for dining, and ceiling to floor shelves lined with books to suit any taste.
Tide pools teaming with life, loons, eagles, seals, pileated woodpeckers, deer, moose, and more have kept us entertained through the years.
If you can tear yourself away, hiking trails, the unique shops and restaurants of Acadia, and nearby Blue Hill are ready for exploration. A lobster dinner from one of the local pounds is a welcome treat after a day of meandering.
Dayton Point is truly our “paradise.” Ron and Andi

Simply Heaven

  • 5 of 5
Dayton Point is our favorite vacation spot. We will be heading back this summer for our 7th visit in 6 years. We honeymooned here and our first child's middle name is Dayton. The views of Mt. Desert Island are breathtaking. The seals playing in front of the cottage each day are entertaining. The rustic cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated. Fresh flowers in every room and lush gardens await you when you arrive. There is nothing like swinging in the hammock while listening to the waves. This place means so much to us. Even our cookies at our wedding were frosted replicas of the view of Mt. Desert Island. It is conveniently located to grocery stores and lobster pounds. Bar Harbor is a 25 minute drive from the cottage. A private beach is perfect for kids. Splashing in the tidal pools at low tide in search of the perfect treasure from the sea is another favorite pastime. The family who owns couldn't be more helpful and pleasant. We won't vacation in the summer anywhere else. It is simply heaven!

Found.... that litlle piece of heaven!

Our Sept retreat to Trenton was all it should have been and more. What an incredibly beautiful, peaceful spot for revitalizing your soul. Lovely that it is so close to Acadia, Bar Harbor, great restaurants, etc. but we found that once we were at the cottage, we really had no desire to go elsewhere! Some how cooking and dining in, with an incredible private view and nothing but the sounds of birds and waves, seemed like the best of all worlds. Can't wait to be back there!!!!
