Welcome to the real Italy...
This 18th century traditional farmhouse has beautifully renovated preserving all the original features and incredible workmanship from years before.
The exposed stonework and unique coned roofs makes staying in this trullo a very special experience.
Situated just a few kilometres from the chic town of Martina Franca (city of festivals) you can enjoy strolling around the historical centre, coffee in one of the lovely cafes or enjoy dining in one of the excellent restaurants where fresh local produce is served at very reasonable prices.
In the summer months the town is busy with Italians who come to enjoy one of the many festivals which are held in the town.
Street entertainment, music and chic cafes keep the town busy until the early hours of the morning where you can enjoy real Italian life.
Just 3km drive into the pretty countryside of Martina Franca Trullo Susanna is situated.
The trullo is set privately however it is not isolated and is situated on a private road so you will not be disturbed by passing traffic.
Private electric gates lead you into the well maintained garden where there is a vegetable garden, fruit trees and of course the famous olive trees which are known to this region.
The outside area has been designed for outside living in the summer months.
Comfortable double sunbeds are around the pool area where you can relax after cooling down in the private pool and the tiled stone gazebo provides shade from the summer sun.
The pool is well maintained by Francesco who comes to clean it early in the morning to ensure he does not disturb you.
Evenings can be spent cooking wonderful fresh local produce on the barbecue, sampling the world famous local wine and relaxing under the stars.
Entering the trullo the exposed stonework, cones and arches are quite breathtaking. The spacious living/dining area has been tastefully decorated in keeping with the style of trullo and the log burning open fire creates a cosy atmosphere in the cooler months.
A new stone built kitchen was finished in 2012 and is fully equipped if you prefer to cook at the trullo.
There is a full size dishwasher, coffee machine with coffee pods and large fridge freezer.
The double bedroom is situated in the original cones of the trullo and is a very special place to sleep. There is ample hanging and drawer space and the pretty mosquito net, candles and soft lighting creates a romantic atmosphere.
There is a further spacious twin room which has been designed by a local artist Anna Le Neve.
The living room has a bed sofa should you be a party of 5 or 6 people.
Full wi-fi is available here in all the rooms for the trullo and the outside patio area.
I viewed many properties in the area however when I saw Trullo Susanna I immediately knew I would love to purchase it. This property ticked all the boxes for me, off the main country road, other houses close enough so you do not feel isolated however you still have privacy as the garden and pool are not overlooked.
The town of Martina Franca is simply beautiful with the baroque architecture, cafes, Italian culture and endless festivals in the summer months.
In the trullo I love all the exposed stonework and how fresh it feels in the summer months.
I have many happy memories of holidays at Trullo Susanna with friends and family and now it is a rental property that enjoyment can be passed onto many more people, please read the reviews and you can see what people thoughts are.

Trullo Susanna is a lovely house to spend your vacation at. The Trullo is renovated carefully with a lot of nice details. Susanna, our host took very well care of us with helpful tips what to do in the surrounding area, we realy felt really welcome. The location is perfect with a lot of nice villages and beaches within 45 minutes drive. The house fit a family of 4.
Once again thank you Susanna, hope to come back
The Trullo Susana is a very nice place to stay in the beautiful region of central Puglia. The place is neat and well located, equipped with all you need for a week holiday.
The owner is very friendly and of useful advices for visiting the region or the local restaurants ;-)
I'd definitely recommend to a friend!
We loved this place. The villa itself is very comfortable and well-equipped. It was also cool and that was very welcome when the temperature outside soared to 38 degrees. The pool was superb.
Susan, the owner, could not have been more helpful and was very friendly. The sat nav she lent us was invaluable. We'd never have found the place again after an outing without it. The welcome pack of some food and a bottle of wine was very, er, welcome.
The location was lovely with a great view over the hills. Our first couple of days were rainy and it was great to sit on the patio and watch an electric storm roll around the valley. After that it was sun all the way. The villa is totally private and not really overlooked (the neighbours would really have to make an effort).
We enjoyed hearing the birds in their nests on the patio (though never managed to see them going in or out) and having swallows dive to take a drink from the pool while we were in it was a great experience.
I also liked the "leave stuff for the next tenant" approach. Instead of throwing left over shower gels or shampoos away at the end of your holiday, just leave them in the basket.
You do need a car. We did try to walk to a restaurant once but gave up before getting there.
Our only very minor suggestion would be for a brighter light in the kitchen but that was a very minor quibble.
Thanks again, Susan, for a superb holiday.
Myself, Husband and two teenage children have just spent a relaxing holiday in this beautifully restored Trullo.
Susan the owner has decorated it to a high standard and added many personal touches to make it feel like home.
Despite arriving in Martina Franco at nearly midnight, she Happily came out to find us, we got ever so slightly lost, and took us to the villa. Nothing was too much trouble for her when I contacted her over the week for help re finding supermarkets and good restaurants.
I would definately recommend a car for sightseeing and to get into town as its a bit of a walk.
We really enjoyed going to Alberabello and would recommend a visit.
If going to Restaurants in Martina Franco,go to the old part and but instead of heading to the large ones in the main square, give the ones a try down the side turnings as we found these to be good value and excellent food.
The Trullo was spotlessly clean and Susan had left milk, bread, wine etc to welcome us.
If you are lookin for peace and quiet and a non touristy area in which to holiday, then we would highly recommend Trullo Susannah,
Thanks again Su.
My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Trullo Susanna. The setting is beautiful and a great location for exploring the area.
The welcome gift was unexpected, but certainly appreciated, after an overnight flight and a drive from Rome. The trullo soon felt like a home away from home.
It was a pleasure to meet Susan. She certainly went out of her way to help us and make our stay enjoyable.
We would highly recommend this property.
Exploring this beautiful area:
There is so much to do and see in this unspoilt part of Italy.
The trullo is just 3km from the beautiful, chic, baroque town of Martina Franca.
In the summer months the town is full of activity.
The city is known as the 'citta del festival', the city of festivals.
The most famous being the musical festival, which attracts people from worldwide in the last 2 weeks of July.
Martina Franca has many excellent restaurants, cafes and for the keen shopper hours can be lost weaving your way through the many designer boutiques.
Surrounded by pretty hilltop town with enchanting historic centres and beautiful piazzas I would recommend you visit: Cisternino, Locorotondo, Ostuni (The White City), Monopoli, Pulignano al mare, Conversano.
Matera, Lecce and Gallipoli are a little further away but undoubtedly worth the drive.
Miles of clean, white, award winning, sandy beaches can be found on the Ionian coastline, just 30 minutes from the trullo.
Dining out here is a pleasure. Fresh seafood, locally grown fruit and vegetables and tender meat dishes all at a very reasonable price.
Local Puglian wine is now known all over the world, you can have the pleasure of sampling this at local prices.
If you wish to visit the wine museum in Alberobello and sample the wines I can organise this for.
You could also spend a morning seeing the famous olive oil of Puglian being made or the wide range of local cheeses.
