The Four Bears Lodge
This beautiful 1875 square-foot home is 6 minutes from downtown Banner Elk. Enjoy the gorgeous view of the mountains and a pond from the huge deck while you grill out on the Weber gas grill. Relax on the leather sofa and enjoy a fire in the stone fireplace (gas). Watch a movie on the 32' flat screen TV with full cable service and a DVD player. Walk down the street and hike along a great creek with several little waterfalls.
Downstairs, this home has two bedrooms, one with two twin beds and one with a full bed, a full bathroom with tub and shower, a fully stocked kitchen, and a large Living Room/Dining room. Two sliding doors open out to the huge deck. Upstairs is a loft with a full-sized futon (very comfy) the master bedroom with a queen bed, and a full bath with an oversized tub and separate shower. There is another TV with a VCR, DVD player, and Sony Playstation2 including several games in the loft area.
Wi-Fi internet service is available as well.
Close by you will find the three ski/golf areas, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, and Hawks Nest all within 15 minutes, and the Banner Elk Winery is 1 mile down the road. Blowing Rock and Boone are both about a 25 minute drive.
Sorry no pets please.
Pam and Tom moved to Raleigh, NC from Michigan in 1996 and fell in love with the mountains as a vacation spot. We visited often and then finally bought a condo at Sugar Mountain. We upgraded to a condo at Hawksnest and finally built our own home..the 4 Bears Lodge.
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
We love Banner Elk because it is close to everything the mountains have to offer. We are 1 mile to a nice Winery (you can walk), 6 min. to Banner Elk shopping and restaurants, and within about 15 min. of Sugar and Beech mtn. skiing and golf.
Everyone loves our home and it's location. We don't need 4 wheel drive in the winter as the road is not steep and is also great for taking a walk. The open floor plan is great for entertaining, the stone fireplace is great looking and cozy, the kids can be upstairs playing Playstation in the loft or in the flat front yard playing football. There is a great little creek just down the road to hike along. For me, laying in the hammock and looking at the view is about as relaxing as it gets.
Our family really enjoyed our stay in Banner Elk. Your home was beautiful, the views great, and the location was perfect for us to explore the area. We bought a Christmas tree and had a wonderful day! We will be back next year
Cozey and clean home; Yard nicely maintained. Fairly easy access for Senior citizens. Nice grill with two rockers on deck. Four adults slept comfortable in 3 rooms (pay attn: to bed sizes). Nice dining table for 6. Nice photos of local area displayed throughout are a nice touch. Recommendation: bath towel racks in the bathrooms.
We spent three nights here as two mature couples and thoroughly enjoyed the well-kept, clean, well-stocked and comfortable property. My friend the chef said the kitchen was awesome and the ladies loved the ambiance. Thanks for a grrrrrrrreat stay!
What a great, relaxing place to stay! The house was fully equipped and very clean. We all (3 couples) loved chilling on the back deck for hours. If you're a dog lover, you'll enjoy the neighbors' dogs, especially "Maggie." They all were very friendly.
We were only there for 3 days, but the next time, will hopefully get to stay longer. I would highly recommend this place. We did get to go to 2 restaurants which I, also, highly recommend...,
1) The Frog & The Monkey in Banner Elk. GREAT Fish Taco and many other choices that look incredible!
2) Banner Elk Cafe - huge breakfast and very reasonably priced. (Want to try it for lunch & dinner some day.)
btw-The owner is very nice to deal with and very informative about the area.
Our stay at 4 Bears Lodge was wonderful! The location to Banner Elk was excellent. The house was perfect and had everything we needed. The sleds were nice to have around, especially with all the snow!
We wanted our grandson to get to play in some snow. Figured Banner Elk on the MLK weekend would be a good bet. The weatherman cooperated with 8 inches of "Sugar" on our arrival date and then sunny cold days to play in the snow for the rest of the weekend. This property was perfect for our winter getaway. Clean, nicely furnished, great views, close to town (Banner Elk) and the ski resorts (Sugar and Beech). With the neighbor's permission, we had our own private sled hill above the pond. Recommend the Bayou Smokehouse and Grill or the Banner Elk Cafe & Lodge for dining in Banner Elk. We also tried the Frog and Monkey--the food was good, but the service was very slow. If you go in the winter, be sure to have four wheel drive or snow chains. I'd enjoy going back to "4 Bears Lodge" in the summer to visit the winery or in the fall to see the changing leaves. I'm sure sitting on the deck is a nice place to relax and enjoy the view in warmer weather. We enjoyed the fireplace when we came in from playing in the snow. The gas grill is nice for cooking out. The internet and satellite TV helped us stay in touch with the outside world. The owners were very helpful in answering all our questions and alleviating our concerns. Be advised that some of the neighbors have large dogs that roam about. They were all friendly and docile around our grandson, "Duke" even joined us on the sled hill.
We wanted to have a White Christmas in the Mountains, at a beautiful cabin with a great view and a warm fireplace, what better place that the "4 Bears Lodge". This cabin was a great place to enjoy with family and friends. The cabin was equiped with all the confort that we needed for a group of seven. It has an easy access to the main streets of Banner Elk, it is very close to the main tourist places in the area (Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Blowing Rock and Boone). Our girls loved it, they had a great time playing in the outdoors, sliding down the hill on the snow, playing with the neighboors dogs. We will defenitely go back again. Thank you to Tom and Pam for a wonderful house.
