The Tarpon at Yellowdog is a newly redecorated chic and colorful 2BR/1.5BA waterfront cottage. It is by far one of the most stylish waterfront cottages in town (tied with it's neighbor, our Redfish cottage).

The Tarpon has a queen bedroom with an ensuite half bath, and a large private room with a daybed that may be used as 1 or 2 twins, or combined to be a king sized bed. A large HDTV is in the living room, which is open with the kitchen. The cottage has a full kitchen with large refrigerator, JenAir gas stove, microwave, coffee maker and all kitchen utensils. A large full bathroom with a garden tub is in the cottage, plus there is an additional shower and half bath right around the corner outside.

While the Tarpon is part of a waterfront property, there are no large waterviews from inside the cottage. There are ample lounge and eating areas outside on the docks.

Please note that since our rentals are pet friendly, we may not recommend staying with us if you have significant, uncontrolled allergies to pet dander. We make every effort to thoroughly clean between guests, but cannot guarantee the cottage will be 100% free of pet dander.

Yellowdog is a destination in itself. We have a boutique with ladies clothing and gifts, upscale resale and consignment clothing, homegoods, and original art. We are right next to Bert's Bar and Grill and across the street from Andy's Seafood - two of the best places to eat in Matlacha and they are right at your doorstep. Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay with you for an additional cleaning fee.

From Yellowdog you can easily walk to most of Matlacha's art galleries and restaurants.

We have a licensed Captain available on weekends for boat trips and fishing charters. Captain Chris can take you on a sunset wine cruise, to Cabbage Key for lunch or dinner, or to Cayo Costa for a day of leisure on a beautiful island beach. We'll even pack a picnic for you. Call/email for rates.

For larger parties you may want to also rent the Redfish Cottage (HomeAway #932390) at Yellowdog. This is a 1.5BR/1BA cottage right next door to the Tarpon, sharing the same common areas as the Tarpon cottage. We will also have a studio cottage available Summer 2013.

There are no other properties in the area like ours. We have 3 cottages confined in a gated area, with kayaks and paddle boards, plenty of outdoor seating, boat slips, and views that will take your breath away. We love our 4 legged guests, and with our gated confines, they are free to roam safely.

What makes this cottage unique

Matlacha has many waterfront rental properties, but we have yet to see one that is as clean and tastefully decorated as ours. If you care about that sort of thing, we're your best choice! We are constantly improving the property like it's our home, because it will be someday!

Matlacha is the perfect spot for fishing, kayaking, and boating. Please note, if you are not familiar with the area, the closest beach by car will be about 45 minutes to either Ft. Myers Beach or Sanibel Island. If you have a boat, you can get to Cayo Costa or Sanibel in about that time or less, depending on your speed.

  • From $219 per night
  • There is an additional cleaning fee if you bring a pet - $25/dog/stay or per week if you stay longer than one week. We also charge a security deposit that is refundable less any damage. This fee is $250/stay or $500/stay if you bring a pet/pets.

We absolutely enjoyed our week at the Tarpon - accommodations were wonderful. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need - except for beer! Oh wait a minute - Bert's is right next door. The people of Matlacha and Pine Island are very friendly and always willing to chat and answer any questions you have. We are ready to move to the Island! Very enjoyable vacation!

Tarpon Cottage was found in excellent condition. Along with the charming decor; it was clean, well lit, high tech, and very secure. Chris and Linda were wonderful, easy-going hosts ready to accommodate any request. Securing the boat on and off the dock as well as navigation around the dock was easy and trouble-free. We would highly recommend this cottage to any prospective vacationer!

wow. one of my best experiences ever!

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but my experience at Yellowdog was so amazing, I just had to share it.

As a business owner, I am sometimes hyper critical of customer service because I think everyone should give the same "over the top" service that I think we do at our little ice cream shop in pa.

Well...I have finally met my match. Linda and her crew at Yellowdog set the new standard for excellent customer service. The room was great, (even cleaner than my personal house) and the overall experience was a joy. I can't wait to go back. I feel like I found my home away from home. Stay here. You will love it. And tell Linda that Tony from pa sent you!
