About Jackie Halls, Property Manager

After living near the ocean in the Myrtle Beach area, it is wonderful to swim in a freshwater lake. No sand, no hurricanes, no traffic, the life is easy and the climate mild. Plus, there aren't any alligators in the water!

Jackie Halls, Property Manager purchased this house in 2006

Why Jackie Halls, Property Manager chose Lake Gaston

Lake Gaston is a well kept secret. When traveling on I-85, one crosses the lake at an unscenic location. When one is traveling on I-95, there is no hint that a gorgeous lake is just to the west. Even within North Carolina, people do not know about Lake Gaston. It is a pleasure living here and enjoying the perfect climate.

Local concert and theatre opportunities:

Royal Palace Theatre, Roanoke Rapids, NC

The Centre, Weldon, NC

Lakeland Theatre, Littleton, NC

Ridgeway Opry House, Ridgeway, NC

Meherrin River Arts Council, Emporia, VA

Cherry Hill Plantation, Warrenton, NC

Henderson Community Concert Association, Henderson, NC

The Dunn Center, NC Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount, NC

ArtBank of Southside Virginia, Lawrenceville, VA

A unique destination is the Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park, 4963 Hwy 258 Scotland Neck, NC. There are waterfowl from every continent at this park. It is an hour from the house, but well worth the visit.

What makes this house unique

Adam Fields' Wakeboard School (AF Wake) is right around the corner. Enroll in day/week classes. Adam also rents a variety of items--paddle boards, wakeboards, tubes, skis, etc.

WakeSurfNC is across the lake. Enroll in day/week classes.

looked just like photos

  • 3 of 5

Our family spent 4 days at lakeside leisure over spring break. The home looked just like the photos. There was plenty of space, and the outside area was great! We felt like the kitchen needed some extra cleaning, the cabinets were sticky. Our 3 boys liked the basement game room, although it was musty and cool. Jackie was great to work with and she answered all of our questions. We enjoyed the trip overall and will return to Lake Gaston.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your visit! Thanks for staying with us at Lakeside Leisure and submitting constructive comments. Sorry the kitchen wasn’t perfect for you. While we fell short of our goal to exceed guest expectations on each visit, we always appreciate when anything that we missed is brought to our attention. A few cabinets really did need the cleaning they just got. Over our 8 year history, no one has ever commented before about the basement being musty. In fact, we were in the basement just a few days prior to your visit removing ceiling tiles to install additional cable for new flat panel TVs and didn’t notice anything. Perhaps between stale air dropping in from the ceiling cavity and the HVAC being off recently with the good weather, you might have noticed something. Your comment does reinforce our practice of turning on the HVAC a few days in advance of a guest’s arrival, but perhaps even a few days longer during spring startup won’t hurt. We’ll certainly do so in advance of your return should you come again to Lakeside Leisure at Lake Gaston during one of the quieter times of the year. Lakeside Leisure

Absolutely charming!

My husband and I rented this house for our honeymoon and we had an amazing time!! We love coming down to the lake for great times and relaxation. Can't wait to come back here and stay in this beautiful home again! The house is so clean and comfortable, it feels like a home away from home. There were so many things to do both inside and outside of the house from playing pool to all the great water sports available on the lake. The home is so spacious and the views are just beautiful. Such a charming and romantic home for the two of us, but we can't wait to return time and time again as our family grows. Thank you for everything! We love this house!

Owner's Response: We are honored that you chose Lakeside Leisure for your honeymoon. We hope you will come back, and often. The dock has 2 swim ladders--one leading into shallow water for the little ones. We've made some improvements over the winter. There is an extra recliner and more space saving flat screen televisions. Four of the TVs are Smart TVs. Thanks so much for sending in a comment. Come back soon!

My family went to lake gaston for a friends wedding. This was the first time we visited. We lucked out to get this winderful house! The only downside was the cable was out due to storms that came through the day before our arrival. We were able to keep our whole family, aged 3 to 50 something entertained. So much to do just at the house! We swam by the dock, took the paddle boat out, played pool and ping pong at night. Enjoyed our coffee on the porch and fought over the swing. There were so many things to do, our long weekend wasn't long enough to enjoy it all. We loved that just about every space accomadated our family from the dinning table to the seating downstairs. We left wanting to check our calendars for a longer stay next year. Thank you for opening your home! Also, Jackie at the rental office is hands down the best I've worked with when it comes to renting. She really knows how to take care of the renters and make their stay special.

Owner's Response: So very glad your family had a good time at the lake. We're especially glad your family was able to enjoy the house. We try to include fun items we would like to find ourselves in a home. We always welcome any suggestions you might have for the house. We're sorry the cable service went out. The lake is special during any season. Come back anytime.

Great Home, Great Water Location

Loved staying in this house, it has a lot of amenities as far as what cooking utensils they offer, the space was great, and the dock with the water is fabulous. My family of 6 plus a toddler had a fantastic vacation there last year, and are headed back in just a few weeks for a repeat trip.

Owner's Response: Thank you for writing a review. So very glad you had a good vacation. Hopefully your next visit will be as wonderful. You'll find a new seating arrangement on the walk-out patio--more shaded seating. The wooden walkway to the dock has been slightly extended for more dry footing. Come on down! The water is perfect.

A trip to remember!

My cousin and his friends told us about this amazing lake home, so we decided to book it for ourselves! This was a mini vacation for my husband, my parents and my sister's family! We has traveled to beaches and new york city but by far this was the most relaxing! My dad who is very hard to please said that this was the best vacation he had ever been on! Every family had privacy in there own rooms with tv's which helped you escape the family drama! We loved being able to dock our boat, and fish right from the dock! We brought maryland blue crabs from home and enjoyed them on the outdoor deck, which is our family's favorite thing to do! The home was clean and big enough to fit our large family comfortably! The size of the fish in the lake are huge, which made the trip for the guys! The paddle boat, horseshoe pits, and game room gave everyone something to do, which was awesome! thank you so much for such a wonderful getaway! We are coming back again this year with my husbands family for another incrediable getway!

Best Family vacation ever

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. This was the best family vacation. We are planning to book this for our family every year. No one wanted to leave. My grandchildren and my children were very sad when it was time to leave. You didn't miss anything. The house was equipped with everything we needed. Would have been nice to have a hammock. We can't thank you enough as this was just what our family needed with our busy schedules.
