Why Colette Robinson chose Mijas

The location and views made this villa the perfect choice. Also that it is situated in a private gated community with a mix of people who live there and just holiday there. this mix gives a lovely feel to the community.

What makes this villa unique

The unique benefit is the location of this villa which absolutely made us fall in love with it before it was even built. Nestled into a small mountain with just trees behind and looking down at the villas below and the sea and harbour area and to the right the beautiful Spanish town of Mijas. At night the view as you walk into the main bedroom is amazing and the lights below look just like jewels sparkling. We have had this villa from new and still look at the views as if it was the first ever time. The garden is small but beautiful and a haven to relax in at any time of the day or night and of course see the views. At night the garden lights make it all seem so magical. The surrounding area too is great as it caters for all types in terms of activities or food. whether Summer or winter there is always plenty to do and lovely cosy places to eat. We love it! You can see from reviews that other people love it just as much as we do. We now have several guests who return year after year as it seems one can never tire of the villa or the area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family of 6 recently returned from a wonderful holiday in this house near Mijas. The house was very spacious, well equipped and had to most beautiful views from the balconies and sun roof. The pool and surroundings were lovely and clean, and well looked after; it was never overcrowded. A very friendly atmosphere, and we were well looked after too.

We decided not to hire a car but in hindsight perhaps should have. The buses, which ran nearby, were regular but didn't run very late - cabs were fairly expensive especially when there's 6 of you.

Mijas is a lovely quaint Spanish town and was only a short ride away - many restaurants with roof top tables overlooking the landscape down to the sea.

All in all a fantastic holiday which we all found very sad to end. There's always next year!!!

A perfect villa, and highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

"My wife and I" have just returned from a week here, and we found it to be perfect in every way.

Firstly the location could not be better, just a 15 to 20 minute drive from Malaga airport using the motorway from Malaga to Marbella. Even though the villa is only about a 3 minute drive from the motorway, it is completely quiet and tranquil. Mijas, which is a very pretty village, is only 5 minutes away. Fuengirola which has a good beach is 10 minutes away. Marbella and Puerto Banus which both have an attractive seafront and marina are a 20 to 25 minute drive away. The Marbella La Canada shopping mall, which has shops such as Zara, H&M, Hollister, M&S, etc. and a massive supermarket attached is also well worth a visit in the evening. Collette (the owner) had been kind enough to provide very detailed directions on finding the villa, and local places to visit and more importantly enjoy a meal! We went to three of the restaurants recommended in Mijas, and all of them offered some of the best food we have ever eaten, without breaking the bank.

The villa is located in a very well maintained gated community, and the villa itself is situated on a terrace overlooking the rest of the community, with spectacular panoramic views of the Mediterranean coastline. The views from the living room, the master bedroom and the rooftop terrace are all awesome. The villa is really well equipped, and has obviously been well looked after. There was nothing we found we needed which was not already provided. The Air conditioning was great to have, as was Sky Tv which meant we still managed to see Europe win the Ryder Cup! While only two of us stayed here, the villa would quite easily accomodate a family as there is plenty of space.

The communal swimming pool and gardens were a great added bonus. The pool was always quiet, and there were sunloungers for us to make use of. We enjoyed a dip in the pool and some late afternoon sunshine on a couple of occasions during our stay.

Overall I would highly recommend this villa. The surrounding area is beautiful, there is lots to see and do, the local people were all friendly, and most importantly the villa was perfect.

Owner's Response: Many thanks to Matthew for this review. The key aspect that has been bought out for me is the fact that the villa is just off the main coastal motorway yet could be a million miles away from it as it is so peaceful and relaxing. Quite often villas that offer tranquility are a long way from civilisation but this is definitely not the case with our villa. The local area offers plenty to do all year round for all tastes be it food, activities, sun, beach, pool, sight-seeing, spa days, golf, horse riding, cycling, walking etc.

Outstanding Villa and Views

  • 5 of 5

This is a fabulously presented villa with outstanding views of the coast and mountains. we stayed for a long weekend and it was made all the more relaxing by the high standard of the accommodations and it convenience of location. The villa is clearly very well looked after by its owners, very clean and modern, and comfortable. Plus, they have thought of everything to make guests stay as stress free as possible; providing details of excellent restaurants, and amenities and have arrangement with a local taxi service should you not want to hire a car. We took advantage of this info and service and although unfamiliar with the area were able to visit great local restaurants and locations with out any disappointment. I would recommend this villa without hesitation and will definitely be returning for a longer stay.

Owner's Response: It is great to hear from guests. We do pride ourselves in ensuring the villa is clean, well looked after and well equipped. A lot of guests love to just stay in at night as the villa has everything you need and the kitchen also contains many pots, pans, cooking utensils that mean that budding chef will never fail to conjure up a luscious dinner! How more relaxing can it be to have a home cooked dinner sitting on a balcony looking out at the sea and surrounding mountains. The beauty of the villa is that it is in a quiet location yet not isolated and has an on-site taxi service plus regular buses outside the villa community. Both mean a car is not necessary if you just want to relax and venture out to restaurants as the mood suits. There are many types of restaurants and price ranges to suit all moods. There is a lovely cafe down the road by the carrefour supermarket that does tasty tapas, but equally there are restaurants from Spanish to Italian to Indian there too.The local towns of Mijas, Benalmadena and Fuengirola all have a great choice of places to eat and drink that suit all tastes and all pockets.

We were four golfers who wanted a central base but away from main towns. The location was perfect and Kay dropped us to Fuengerola if we wished for a reasonable charge. The villa was spotless and had all facilities needed.Good size kitchen/sitting room and sky sports package was a bonus. The advance information and directions from Colette were also spot on.The pool and garden were very clean and I would have no hesitation in recommending to others. Also parking for rented car and safe storage for golf clubs.Only thing missing was a little bar on site but perhaps it was actually an advantage!!! Owner's Response: Ha ha ha - yes I can see that an on-site bar maybe useful to you guys! It is great to see a review from golfers as the area has an abundance of wonderful golf courses. Alhourin also has a golf course for older children come teenagers. The golf clubs are set within beautiful scenery too with relaxing bars and restaurants for all to enjoy, even those who don't wish to partake of the actual golf like myself! Having SKY Sports is a great advantage as the guys enjoyed being able to watch the Ryder Cup whilst relaxing in the villa. My hubby is a rugby man so SKY Sports was a must! The villa is situated inside a gated community with parking for two cars so it is a safe environment, friendly too. We have very high standards when it comes to cleanliness of the villa and surrounding community so it is great when guests make a note of it. The ladies who run the villa for us will also drive guests to places should they wish not to drive and that is really useful. There are various transport options, if you wish to leave the car at the villa or not have a car at all, from the management company to taxis to buses that stop at the entrance to the community. Thank you for the review and it is great to hear from golfers.

The villa was great and very well equipped - the Sky TV package great for the "little ones". We enjoyed the relative isolation on the mountainside, but despite not having a car, we found travel easy via the local bus service which was reliable and on time.

We enjoyed eating in and eating out, and found the local restaurants inviting and good value. The local supermarkets (in MIjas and the Carrefour) provided for our needs and gave us scope for experimentation with different foods.

We would certainly like to visit again.

Owner's Response: The local bus service runs right passed the villa and is indeed regular and on time. We use it a lot as you can go into Mijas, Benamadena, Torremolinos, Malaga and places on the way and relax over a meal and a glass of wine or two! It costs less than 2 euros to get to the beach and is very speedy. You can also get the bus and hop on a train and sight-see along the Costa del Sol coast. Taxis are available too but it is nice sometimes to just sit on the bus and take in the area and local communities. We too have never had a horrible meal and have been to many restaurants. The food is of good quality and there are choices for everyone. Even by the supermarket has excellent eating delights! When you have done your shopping at Carrefourre supermarket pop into the Spanish cafe almost next door. The food is very cheap, wonderfully tasty and the service really friendly. Try the albondigas (meat balls).................beautiful.

A peaceful spot

  • 4 of 5

We had an absolutely fantastic holiday at this property. The views are to die for, both into the hills and down to the coast. The pool area was quiet (even during July) , not too busy and the other residents were very friendly. The property itself is beautiful, contemporary and very comfortable. It's nice to have balconies off the main bedrooms and the living area. We travelled with our 2.5 year old and baby so the enclosed living room balcony joining the private garden area was fantastic as we didn't have to worry about the kids' safety when enjoying a drink at home. The communal gardens also gave space for the kids to run about. There is a supermarket a short (and cheap) taxi ride away so it's perfect for a slef catering holiday. The mountain village of Mijas is a short taxi ride away (10euros) where there are plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the main coastal resorts but close enough to the local and authentic spanish bars and restaurants of Mijas, then this property is for you.

Owner's Response: This guest enjoyed all the things that we and other guests enjoy like Mijas, the villa balconies and views, the peacefulness of the villa yet close enough to shops, bars, restaurants, bank, doctor etc. One thing I hadn't thought about before is the point about being able to relax with a glass of wine whilst the children play as yes they can't escape!

Fantastic holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 11 nights in this lovely villa, which was easy to find, just off the motorway on the road to Mijas. Colette the owner provided a good service prior to arrival with excellent information. On arrival we were met by a neighbour Nancy, who had bought a welcome pack, which we had ordered in advance. She is very helpful and knows the area well.

The villa is clean, spacious and well designed. There are 3 good sized bedrooms. We were 4 adults and 2 children and there was more than enough room for us to not feel on top of each other. The villa is safe for young children. The only thing to watch is the spiral stairs to the roof terrace, but we didn't allow them up there anyway. By the way it is very nice up there and excellent for sunbathing, if not a little hot.

The pool is nearby and not too busy. There is a nice garden area near the pool and it is again very safe. The villa itself has a lovely little side garden, with a barbecue, which we used often.

Local people were friendly and the complex seemed to have a nice community feel with everyone looking out for everyone else.

I would definitely hire a car in the summer for shopping and getting around, but there is a bus. However when we were there it reached 40C so waiting for a bus might be hard work!!

The descriptions of the villa were accurate and it had pretty much everything you could need. The kitchen has a microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster etc and as such has everything needed.

The views are spectacular and make for nice evening viewing, with a glass of wine in hand.

I would recommend this villa to anyone of all ages. It was quiet in the evenings and no traffic noise, meaning it is very tranquil.

A definite return for us. Thanks to Colette for making our stay a nice one.

Owner's Response: The villa is only 15 minutes in a car from the airport and just off the main road as Steve says, yet it feels a million miles away in its beautiful setting which is tranquil yet not isolated. The villa is spacious and we pride ourselves on ensuring it is very clean and welcoming. It is also very well equipped, especially for the budding chef! The garden at the villa isn't huge but is just lovely to sit in at anytime of day. The lights at night make it very relaxing too. The sun roof is indeed excellent for sunbathing and is equipped with a shower to cool you down in the Summer months. As this is accessed from one of the balconies it is easy to distance children from the spiral staircase as there are patio doors to the balcony which could remain locked. It is nice to hear a guest mention the community as it is a lovely friendly complex which is never overcrowded as it comprises a variety of people who stay at different times of the year so owners who live there or owners who just pop over for a week or holiday guests. This means the community has a very welcoming feel too.
