3 teenagers and it still worked!!

Review Submitted: August 22, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
Everything about this holiday worked well. Eoin was very helpful and made the organisation easy. Sutivan is great. Don't expect zinging night life, but do expect great beaches ( who needs sand), great food (try the fish), friendly people. The house was excellent with all the facilities you could need, particularly the master bedroom, kitchen and plentiful showers. The terrace is great for dining out. Try the butcher and cook the meat on the barbie whilst the sun is going down.
We didn't venture far other than to Zlatney Rat, which is pretty awful. Very commercialised and packed. Stick to Sutivan and enjoy the wonderful setting, the relaxed air of the place and as a previous reviewer said, chill out.

Lovely house, lovely setting

Review Submitted: August 18, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We spent a week in this house in Sutivan. We have three teenage children and found the house was really well equipped for a family of our size. The decor was simple and tasteful, we particularly liked the top double room with it's lovely en-suite. All of the rooms had fans which kept us cooler than the air conditioning had at our hotel the week before. The kitchen has a large fridge with an ice maker and cold water feature, a great addition in the Croatian summer. There is also a dishwasher and a washing machine, everything worked well. There is a nice relaxed feeling to the house, when you arrive there is no long list of dos and don'ts. The terrace had a good bar-b-que and was a nice place to eat. Even at lunch time we could eat there because of the canopy. The house is right in the centre of Sutivan which is a pretty little town with several bars and a couple of restaurants. During August there is regular entertainment just down in the harbour, very close to the house, which was good most of the time but there were a couple of evenings when a rather annoying couple sang til midnight!
We hired bikes and cycled to Supertar one night, and went there on the bus another day. It's much busier than Sutivan, nice to visit but we were much happier staying in Sutivan. We also visited Bol which was very busy and touristy, and Milna which was pretty and had a lovely restaurant (with orange curtains and bamboo blinds!).
The beaches are all stoney or rocky so a pair of wet shoes is a must. It's great for swimming as the water is a lovely temperature and is clean and clear. The house also provided mats for the beach.

Indifferent owner

Stay somewhere else Vancouver, Canada
Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
First of all, Sutivan is a wonderful town. Safe and lovely with good restaurants and a great place to holiday. We didn't have a bad meal or experience in town.

When we booked the villa, I noted that the owner was very slow to respond to e-mails. I decided to proceed as I really did like the look and location of the house and thought that once we arrived the apparent disinterest would be of no concern. How wrong I was.

I was given the number of the key holder and called her once on the ferry from Split. She advised she was no longer the key holder and couldn't help with telephone numbers for the owner or her new representative. Given that I was all alone with three children this was quite stressful. I e-mailed the owner (the only method of communication I was given in all our dealings), but received no reply. When we arrived at the house there was nobody there and we waited almost 2 hours for someone to arrive (we had been on an earlier ferry than planned). When the owner's daughter did arrive she gave us a very short tour of the house.

The house itself is in an excellent location. There is noise from the church bells, and on two nights a band played directly below the bedrooms in the front, but that was not a real issue for us.

What was an issue was the state of the house. The t.v. was on a different floor from the dvd player and neither seemed to work. The cd player was present but there were not enough plugs. The dishwasher door would not open fully as it was too long for the kickplate below. Once we opened and loaded it, we found it did not work at all. The house itself was not as clean as it should have been. As an owner of a rental property I would never leave the floors covered in dust and consider a toilet clean with just a squirt of cleaning fluid.

The real problems started when we advised the owner of the problem with the dishwasher. Long story short, we had to wait on several occasions for contractors to come to repair the dishwasher. The unit (according to the repairman) had been shorted out for some time. We had extension cords running through the kitchen for two days. The dishwasher, despite the visits from the contractor (with us as key holders) was never repaired. The owner refused to discuss refunding a portion of the rent and was just really very indifferent.

We would happily have returned to this house but could not deal with this owner again.

Chill out in typical Croatian fishing village

Sutivan5 Germany
Review Submitted: September 18, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We stayed here for a week mid September for a much needed break after moving house & before our teenage/early twenties boys and girlfriend went back to uni.
Within 24hrs we had slowed down to the local pace of life .
The house itself is wonderful with loads of room for us to spread out & chill, although we did spend lots of time, & ate most meals, on the lovely terrace.
The beds were very comfortable with crisp cotton sheets, and we appreciated the 3 separate showers, all with independent heating so plenty of hot water. It was also handy having dishwasher & washing machine to wash our beachtowels etc through.
Self catering was very easy with the small but very well stocked shops within a few steps from the villa, and the fruit/veg stall just up the road.We ate local olives, cheese, Dalmation hams, melons, salad. We also enjoyed the local cafes, especially Konoba Porat in the harbour and restaurant Mikki next door for wonderful seafood. They will even supply you with chips to have with your own bbq.
It was our first time back to Croatia since our student days visiting the former Yugoslavia. We loved the unspoilt beauty of the place and the stunning buildings(you can certainly see the Venetian influence).Sutivan is picture postcard pretty and has no hotels, tourist shops or clubs!
It is perfect for an away-from -it-all break to relax & charge the batteries , and an opportunity to experience living as the locals do.We didnt hire a car but wish we had for the last 2 days of the holidays when the weather was overcast & cool, and we could have explored the island. But wouldnt have been bothered if it had stayed hot .We had the local beaches almost to ourselves.
Tip-take rubber shoes & beach mats for the stoney beaches, and snorkels for the incredible clear sea.
Yes, there is a bit of noise in the evening from the cafe next door, but this is a small price to pay for the great position in the harbour.

besides the noise from the adjacent cafe and local church ringing (which you get used to), our experience at the villa was brilliant - the little town was lovely, the beaches are not far and the terrace and its BBQ are definitely perfect for lounging and nice long meals.
