On the south east of the island, Shanklin is a beautiful, historical old village with a stunning safe beach in a bay. One of the prime locations on the island, it is close to all amenities and the possibilities are endless. This 100m2 cliff-top apartment is in a quiet location, with cool marble floors, lots of light and some views of the sea, minutes from the pubs, restaurants and shops of the old village. My mother was born on the Island and we have been visitors for many years. We still are finding things to do, there is so much in a compact place.

Having selected a short list of places to buy a property, we felt Shanklin has a lot to offer, with a good shopping centre, theatre, loads of restaurants and pubs not to mention a great beach.

When we walked through the door the apartment just felt right. It was light and spacious inside with a great location, being close to a number of different walks. The beach is within 5 minutes walk as is the park and village centre. The town is about 10 minutes walk and the station a couple of minutes further.

The apartment enjoys a peaceful location with a view from the balcony across Shanklin and Sandown bays, to Culver Down and on a clear day, to the mainland.

A beautiful property, very well maintained and of excellent standard. The property was spotless and as described on the website. The owner provided fabulous customer service, before during and after. Four of us stayed here and will highly recommend this property to others. A excellent base to explore the island. We visited many attractions while there including the zoo, garlic farm and Osbourne house plus many many more. My comments fantastic, will definitely book again.

Great Apartment

A lovely well presented apartment, Great location. What you see online is exactly what you get. The apartment is quite spacious, very clean, warm and cozy. I will certainly recommend this property to friends & family. We enjoyed our stay very much. Loved the complementary bottle of wine and the box of chocolates. Shanklin is a lovely little village with all the necessary facilities. Hope to return again in the near future!!!!

This was our 2nd stay at this apartment. We had a excellent stay in this beautiful apartment, with very nice decor and tremendous comfy beds. We are looking forward to stay here next year again.

Holiday Stay

After looking at the reviews for this apartment, myself and my partner booked a week in February to coincide with my birthday. It was supposed to be a relaxing week away. Communication with the owner was fine to start, then as soon as we got on the island things went downhill. The details we were given said we were to pick up the keys from a given address with a contact name and number. After finding his address (down a VERY uneven dirt road full of craters!) we found no-one home. We phoned but no reply. We then went to find the apartment itself hoping someone would be there. No such luck. After phoning again the contact answered and said that the owner had sent the keys by post. We said no she hadn't. He said he would phone her and find out. He then phoned back saying the keys were on the doorstep of the previous property in an envelope wrapped round a bottle of wine. We had seen this but wasn't nosey enough to realise it might have been for us!
Written on the envelope was an apology saying the lights in the bathroom and ensuite were not working and that her husband would be back at 5 to sort this out. Yes he did come round after id phoned and he didnt know anything about the lights. He had to take a fuse out of the iron to sort them! He apologised for not coming sooner he had being playing golf! The apartment on first impression looked fine but on closer inspection was found to be dusty and some areas not clean, especially the hob which was covered in grease, the oven trays were dirty with leftover food on them. The bathroom and ensuite were not clean to a satisfactory standard and there was no hot water in the bathroom for a bath or shower. As i have dificulty sometimes sleeping i slept occasionaly in the second bedroom so as not to disturb my partner. The single bed was uncomfortable with a lumpy mattress and the televison didn't work in there either. Half way through the week we got an unexpected visitor who let themselves in with keys! It turned out to be an estate agent come to show someone round as the property was going up for sale! Needless to say we were a bit surprised as we were both still in our pj's, thankfully just sitting drinking a cuppa!!! I would have expected an apology phone call from the owner herself but no. We were both disappointed with the apartment overall. Im assuming as they are selling or renting it out they are no longer bothered.

Better than home from home!

This has got to be one of the best self catering properties we have ever stayed in. It looks lovely in the photos, but its only when you open the door and see how spacious and beautifully decorated the apartment really is, you know your holiday will be fantastic! Everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay has been thought of, and the wine & chocolates are just the cherry on top! We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting the Isle of Wight. We will definitely be visiting again...very soon! Thank you Claire & Kevan - we give the apartment six out of 5 stars :)
