Great combination of funkiness and modernity

I rented this charming cabin with 5 friends recently, and we really enjoyed its myriad charms. It's an older home, perhaps circa 1940's or 50's, and has the expected knotty pine paneling throughout. But it also has a fabulous, newly updated sleek bathroom, Apple TV and 42" flatscreen, terrific contemporary kitchen (1/2 is modern, the other half is original....a really cool combination you can see in the rental site photos, but it's even more wonderful in person). We loved the wood-burning fireplace, and gathering pine cones to use as starters.
This has to be the mosy completely stocked home I've ever rented.....the kitchen cupboards were chocked full of things like spices, olive oil, pasta, coffee filters.....almost anything and everything your own. The cookware was fabulous. There's even a large bathroom pantry with stuff your own bathroom might have.
The third "bedroom" has a platform with several futons, a bit more suitable for children than
adults, and the adjoining bathroom has not been updated, but it's very clean, charming and well-functioning.
We all really appreciated the super-efficient and hi-tech heating system, as well.
The location is NOT remote and private, but it's very near the beach and the near-by Safeway.
The double windows do make a big difference in reducing street noise, however.
The owners of this home clearly take pride in it's design and furnishings, and my friends and I felt
at home immediately, so much so that we decided to cook all three dinners there rather than
eat out.
