Varna Vacation Rental

Trip from the airport is around 25 mins, allowing for some surly airport security. This split-level apartment is located on a hill in north Varna and, unlike the route to get there, is surprisingly comfortable, modern and stylish. Overall quality and decor is excellent and wholly unexpected for Bulgaria, and somewhat better than expected from the pictures. It is well-maintained and clean, and the friendly couple managing the place lives just upstairs. The expansive sea view from the balcony is just great. On-site downstairs is an unusual pool and there's ping-pong in the gym and a nice sauna too. Kitchen is well equipped and is better fitted than our own kitchen at home! The beds were new and pretty comfortable for all 4 of us.

A nice modern shopping center is nearby (3 mins by car), small shops are just a stroll down the road. Varna town center is 10 mins by car and down the hill is a bus station with lots of routes around Varna and Golden Sands. One can even walk to the Sea Park as well, but watch the paths! It's a pity that some of the buildings nearby are somewhat tacky and in various stages of "construction" but one can ignore all that once inside. Private parking is available within electronically-controlled gates so don't lose the tag like we did and had to manually get someone to open and close them every time.

All in all, a very good apartment with a great sea view. Highly recommended if visiting Varna and you want a quality apartment. Note that everything is very very cheap in Bulgaria compared to the UK (eg, bus to town center (centrum) is 0.50 leva, meals are 10-15 leva, beer is 3 leva, etc)!!!
