This architect-designed home has large rooms, high ceilings, and all the amenities of home. It is furnished with some of our cherished and unique items, and is as comfortable as it is peaceful. The quiet neighborhood is great for bird-watching, walking or biking, star gazing, and enjoying a variety of flora and fauna.
The upstairs bedroom, with a king bed, has it's own bathroom (shower only) and a reading nook. The two downstairs bedrooms share a bathroom with tub and shower. There is a small TV/VCR in the bedroom with the queen bed, and a door leading outside to the gorgeous back yard.
Located just off the national park, near the Volcano Golf Course and the Volcano Winery, it is less than 5 minutes away from the park entrance and visitor center, so it is a convenient 'home away from home' from which to explore the Volcano National Park, Hilo, Akaka Falls, and much more.
At Kilauea Military Camp, located in the national park, anyone may use their bowling alley and gym, attend events in the theatre, or go to the restaurant and lounge.

Keywords: This is a custom-built house, beautifully furnished, located on the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by tall native koa and ohi'a trees.
Hospitality with grace and generosity, beautiful surroundings, and delicious breakfasts to get us started--we could not have asked for anything more at the Hale Koa Nani. Aloha and Mahalo.
Amy (originally from Honolulu), and Joe (from Arizona), are both self-employed in Kona, and have lived on the Big Island for many years. In 2003, we purchased this house for our retirement in a few more years. In the meantime, we enjoy our occasional visits to the house, hosting family and friends, and the constant improvements we make to our future home.
Amy's family vacationed regularly in Volcano, not far from this house, so from childhood I have had a love and appreciation of the area, the climate and the park. This part of Volcano is considered the 'dry side', so there are many more days each year when one can enjoy being outside.
We love the 'quiet' of the house, waking only to the sound of birds--no traffic, no noisy neighbors. Our back yard adjoins a ranch, giving the feel of tremendous space to our property. The community of Volcano is very friendly, and reminds us of how life was when we were growing up in the 1950's--people knew their neighbors, and participated in local events. Check out the Sunday market at the Cooper Center on Wright road, but go early!! You'll find produce, flowers, prepared foods, baked goods, arts & crafts, and conviviality.
