Some of the best Fly Fishing in Europe on our doorstep...
We are situated between the Gave d'Oloron and the Gave de Pau, both are excellent trout and salmon rivers. These local rivers provide outstanding fly-fishing opportunities. The river season runs from approx March 15th until September 15th each year.

The Gave D'Oloron (the river) is less than 10 mins away and this has held the world salmon championships and the French national championship. Each year there is a salmon festival held in Navarrenx (10mins).
Both the two main gaves and their smaller tributaries offer the chance of some of France's best fishing at a fraction of the cost in the UK. The rivers are fast flowing, un-polluted and short between source and ocean
WINE TASTING:
This is the Jurancon wine region. A high quality white wine. There are about 30 independent vineyards and most are open to the public. There are also 3 tasting centres (Monein, Gan, Lacommande) which offer the opportunity to taste a number wines from different vineyards in an informal environment. Oddbins, Waitrose and certain specialist in UK stock Jurancon wine.
Just to the North of Pau is the Madiran region ( a heavy, powerful red) .
JUst NE of Pau is the Cote de Saint MOnt a pleasant easy drinking red wine.
About one hour away is the Armangnac region.
