This is our 19th year offering gite accommodation, We sleep up to 10 people in 5 double bedrooms. Pool 10x5 sqms. We are sited on 8 acres, including 5 acres of woods, with a covered courtyard, gardens and orchard, on the edge of Manses (pop 68), the Pyrenees as a permanent backdrop. Linen provided and all mod cons. Free childsitting by prior arrangement. The main house is dated from Napoleonic times C1797, and formed the dependencies of the Comte de Manses till the 1920's. His Chateau has gone but leaves a very pretty view across the valley. A new family park has been created near the house with BBQ, Boules courts, Table tennis table and childrens play structures. Across the courtyard is a separate lounge area with wood fire, over 1100 books to read, music and television including DVD and Videotape facilities and a full size dartboard outside.. The courtyard is covered at the back end providing an excellent retreat from the hot sun and a great place to eat al fresco . Holidaymakers eat about 80% of their meals outdoors as a result. Yvonne and Dan live in an apartment off the courtyard. Our job is to clean the pool, make repairs and give useful advice. We will gladly ring up to make bookings on your behalf for activities and restaurants
We were community workers in Bristol. Dan is a Bristolian and Yvonne is from Slough. Our 38 year old boy Jo is a care worker in Edinburgh. Came south largely because of Yvonne needing a different climate for her health. Worked 100%
Mr Daniel Lloyd purchased this house in 1995
Wanted to be in France but near Spain and near to mountains and sea. Discovered Mirepoix and fell in love with area. Looked at over 50 places in 1994. Got fantastic value for our money at that time.
We value privacy for our guests but also offer great hospitality for those who want it. Have met many lovely people over 18 years. Great place to chill out.in the courtyard or by the pool. Lots of easy walks, and everything you could want within 30 minutes drive. 8 minutes to the wonderful Mirepoix and all facilities
We cannot recommend the house highly enough. A large group of adults and children stayed at the house in August 2011. We were made very welcome by the owners, Dan and Yvonne, and they could not do enough for us to make our stay comfortable. The swimming pool is large and inviting, and there is plenty of room both inside and outside the house. Mirepoix is a beauthiful town, and only 10 minutes away. We would definitely consider staying again and would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
We stayed for a week at Dan and Yvonne's farmhouse and had a wonderful time. The house and gardens are spacious (we had 7 adults in our party) with beautiful views from every direction. It was great to have a pool all to ourselves, my 8 month old daughter had a great time! The rooms are large and there is a bathroom on each floor, the kitchen area is big and we enjoyed the use of the barbeque too. The local town of Mirepoix is a short drive away and has a supermarket with all your essentials. The town has a lovely medieval look and has lots of resturants and coffee shops which were perfect for a morning pastry! A car is necessary to get around but there is no traffic and no parking worries. Dan and Yvonne were unintrusive and incredibly helpful - giving us local resturant advice, weather reports, directions and even supplying us with butter when we ran out! They were always on hand to help and this made our stay even more relaxing.
What a setting, I call this the real France, in a small hamlet in the rural countryside sits this tradition property run by superb hosts Dan and Yvonne. They let us into their way of life as if we were close family.
I spend a great week with my son and his partner and my grand daughter enjoying the quietness of this wonderful location. My granddaughter who is 2 years old loved the pool splashing about and learning to swim.
The accommodation is spacious and well maintained, the bathroom with shower have been tastefully modernised. Most evenings we spend in the courtyard eating and socialising, enjoying homegrown food complimented by wine from a nearby cellar that Dan had recommended,
The medival town of Mirepiox provides the opportunity to shop locally for all those essentials.
A peacful retreat or a base to explore town like Caracassone, Fiox, Toulouse etc. it is great place at the end of the day to unwind.
Thanks , we will be back.
