Honouliwai Chateau / Country House Rental Photos and Description
Chateau / Country House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)
Beautiful View Honouliwai Hale - Island of Molokai
***********IS NOT RENTING AT THIS TIME***********
Due to the new requirements of the County of Maui, we are out of business until further notice. We have opted not to apply for a new building permit as we do not think it will be cost effective to put in a 5000 gallon tank of water and reverse osmosis water treatment for the entire property, because we already have the best water on the island and don't want to ruin it. We are on ag land and don't want to jump through the expensive hoops to have a vacation rental in our residential home which is on ag land. We feel these requirements are excessive and crippling to our part time home business. We have run at a loss for 10 years and now they want more money from us. We feel like a turnip being squeezed for blood.
We have pleased guests and this is the thanks we get.

Big Round Ocean View Luxury Cedar Hawaii Vacation Rental Home with lots of decks, windows, air conditioning, fans, wild life right outside your window, over nearby beaches and ocean pools.
*Make Angels in the Sand*
Be enveloped in an atmosphere of high ceilings in a round room with beautiful views caressed by soothing breezes and the music of the birds and the surf that will leave you relaxed and speechless--the true feeling of being on Moloka'i, the 'most Hawaiian island.' Watch the sunrises, sunsets, and waves breaking from the master bedroom, decks, and living areas.
From the deck, watch the birds and enjoy the beautiful, dreamlike view of blue-water Honouliwai Bay, waves crashing outside its protective reef where sea turtles make their home, with the Island of Maui, only eight miles away, looming large across the channel at the closest point between the two islands. You can see whales and dolphins jumping in the channel as they pass through the bay.
Swim in clear, shallow, gradually-deepening waters near the sandy shore between the sky and the sandy bottom. Snorkel along the beautiful reefs and look down over the reef 'cliffs' into the deep blue channel. Kayak in the bay and to neighboring bays. Kids can ride the tiny waves on one side and two or three small boats can anchor on the other.
Just 200 yards taro fields, up the private driveway from white-sand Honouliwai beach. Relax in this serenely grand, comfortable cedarwood home, secluded on the valley bluff, surrounded by lush vegetation, including brilliant, sweetly scented plumeria and papaya trees right off the large sundeck--the fruit ripe for picking for your breakfast.
In the afternoons, watch the sunset from the deck that wraps halfway around the house, then enjoy a tranquil evening in the spacious rooms of this three-bedroom home--the hardwood floors, marble walls and counters, cedar walls and ceilings, lauhala mats and ceiling fans all add to the island atmosphere and give a warm, inviting sense of Aloha.
Take a short walk to the beaches. Swim, snorkel, or paddle the 3 open kayaks and see a turtle looking back at you like a telescope. Jump off Morris Point into the deep tidal pools and lay on warm lava rocks and flat sand. Walk, jog, bike, or drive up and down the one-lane road along the ocean beaches, rocks, and mountains. Go to a 'real' Hawaiian luau on Honouliwai Beach with real Hawaiians, if there is an occasion to celebrate. If they like you, you can contribute$, as it takes all day to catch fresh seafood & pick fresh greens & cook a pig in the pit for authentic Hawaiian luaus.
See actively farmed taro fields plowed by Molokai's only water buffalo 'Big Foot'. Take a boat tour right from Honouliwai to pristine Wailau Valley and take a jungle hike in this beautiful remote valley, catch a fish, see mountain goats, flying fish and more sea turtles.
Nestled in the heart of the East End Molokai Hawaiian Community known as Mana'e, with its own ancient sea fish pond, Honouliwai Bay at mile 20.5, is right between East Molokai's favorite surf spot, 'Rock Point' and Molokai's largest and safest three to six foot-deep snorkel spot, Moanui Beach at mile 20, known as 'Murphy's Beach'.

There is the seven-mile scenic drive to Halawa Bay where you can hike to it's famous sky-high twin Falls at Mo'o'ula. Jeff is a retired builder & rock mason, who spends much time in our organic gardens, surfs nearby. We ride horses & practice chipping/putting occasionally on our property. We have open kayaks for ocean pleasure paddling. We have some grown children in college, a lap dog, 7 cats, 3 horses, lots of birds. We like to travel & ski, but never rent while we are out of town. We are here to serve you.
We actually bought the home next door, for it's beauty, privacy, & neighbor control. It is just up hill of our home, making it easy to keep the property secure from intruders, as it is on our shared driveway. It is a good place to go if there is ever another tsunami
Nature, Ocean, Hiking. We have made hiking/riding trails on our 18 acres, with gorgeous views at every turn of the trail, and ending at the top of the hill and out to the point to view a sunset/rise. We share organic vegetables from our garden, when available, and Jeff will show you how to open a coconut or how we train our horses. You can visit with the only working water buffalo in the USA next door, or catch a boat ride from our driveway/boat ramp. That's even unique for anywhere on Molokai.
