This second story detached Mauna Makai suite offers AMAZING & STUNNING views from a roofed living area of over 1200 sq. ft. When on vacation in Hawaii, experience the magic with all the conveniences of home. An impressive master suite with his and her closets and a 32'' flat screen t.v., a gorgeous bathroom with a large shower, comfortable living room with a full size futon and 40'' flat screen t.v., a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and dishware. Views from every room. The Mauna Makai suite is absolutely beautiful! Truly a must stay!!
We are at the end of a one week stay in this wonderful apartment. It has absolutely everything you might require including umbrellas and a needle and thread. The wi-fi works very well and there are two cable TVs. A channel guide would have been helpful but we only watched TV once, preferring to read at night while listening to waves and the palm fronds.
The photos do not really do the apartment justice. There is additional furniture than when the photos were taken. The bedroom is super spacious and carpeted. Being on the second floor, the winds keep the rooms very comfortable. There is an ocean peek-a-boo view and a full view of the local mountains, very scenic. The sound of crashing waves is constant. I think being right on the ocean might be too loud! The ocean is a half block down or you can head to Waiminalo Beach Park, just a few blocks further. We visited the famous Kailua Beach Park and Lanikai Beach, but there was so much traffic, no parking and the beach was crowded. We turned around and came back to Waiminalo which we believe is superior. Bellows Beach is also nearby and very nice if the surf is not too rough. Hanauma Beach is also not very far. Forget going at 6 am and show up after lunch and you will drive right in. The Pali Highway is a beautiful and quick drive to Honolulu (avoiding commute times of course).
Local simple cafes are nearby for Mexican, shrimp and steak or breakfast (blocks away) and for the most part they were very good. For better restaurants, there is Kailua town and Hawaii Kai which have a multitude of choices. Our personal favorites were Baci Bistro (need reservations) and Kalapahawi Cafe in town. Show up at 5:00 for dinner to get a table. They don't take reservations. The favorite Sweet Home Waiminalo Cafe was closed for renovations. Also, the local Whole Foods Market was incredible with a HUGE salad bar and deli.
Pros: Everything! It's a beautiful place with lovely onsite owners.
Cons: You need to be able to walk up one flight of stairs. Also if you require a king bed, this isn't your place. It's a densely populated neighborhood, however once the sun is down, it becomes very quiet.
I cant say enough about the fantastic hospitality we experienced at Paradise Found. Everything about the suite was designed to allow us to relax and decompress! You could actually show up with flip flops and shorts and not need another thing the whole time you were there! (aside from some groceries and wine from Bobby's down the street of course) The beach was spectacular and only a short walk away. Beach chairs, towels and even a cooler stood ready upon our arrival! The owners are great, and they went out of their way to make our stay, and my birthday, extra special. The place is very clean, spacious and literally looks like it was just built. The views from the cool wrap around lanai are incredible and we enjoyed having our breakfast outside as the sun came up.
I can still hear the birds at our bedroom window, ahhh..I wish I was back there! Thanks guys..for such a memorable visit to Oahu! See you again soon!
My husband and I stayed in the upper unit. The owners were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The unit itself is gorgeous: From the bathroom to the bedroom to the living area. The kitchen amenities were great, although I can't recall whether there was an oven (a microwave, definitely, as well as a full sized fridge) since I am just now remembering to review this rental from our stay that was well over a year ago. There was a couple staying in the unit below us, but we couldn't hear them. There is a beautiful walkway on one side of the unit that provided nothing short of spectacular views of the mountains and a great place to hang out. There appeared to be a tiki bar type deal in the yard, but we didn't use it. Finally, we were a mere half a block from the beach which was not a busy beach at all. The owners provided boogie boards and beach chairs for us to use. Exactly (exactly!!!) exactly what we were looking for in a vacation rental. I hesitate to rave to no end about this place because we most definitely plan on going back to Waimanalo and would LOVE to stay here again and would like it to be available for us, but I also want to give the owners full credit and wish them all the success in the world. Bottom line...this rental is a hidden gem. Snag it up - it truly is paradise!
our stay was excellent. the stufio is well sppointed and private. owners are available but not inttusive. views are awesome anx beach half a block away. ahhh!
The most peaceful & pleasant place with access to the best beach, well maintained and fabulous mountain views.
After visiting this island on several occasions and staying at different coastal locations, we found this to be our preferred area of Oahu. We stayed at this particular property earlier this year renting the smaller of the two units available. Obviously, we liked staying here so much the first time that we decided to return and rent the larger unit this time. This unit is very clean, updated, spacious with an open concept, and located in a quiet neighborhood. It is bright with plenty of windows to view the breathtaking Ko’olau Mountains or view them from the surrounding lanai. The very beautiful Waimanalo Beach is just a short, half a block walk down the street with the owners making beach chairs, towels and boogie boards available for our use. The property is in an ideal location; close to H3 and easy to get to Waikiki. The owners, Melissa & Bryce are the most wonderful people and once again made our stay an absolute pleasure; we will return here again in the future!
