This romantic cottage has perhaps the most beautiful location in New Zealand. It is between Mount Cook and Wanaka but world's away from the crowds. It is perfect for those who want to experience natural New Zealand. The views from the cottage are spectacular and can be enjoyed in privacy from the north-facing veranda which has unobstructed views of Lake Ohau and the Southern Alps. The spectacular scenery and constantly changing light and colours make the cottage a perfect photographer or romantic artist retreat. Be alone with nature or enjoy a romantic holiday. Get that writing or art project done in an inspirational environment with all conveniences such as broadband internet. Hiking is superb. An extensive network of hiking tracks and huts are at your doorstep. Biking, kayaking, fishing for trout or salmon are all possibilities. During the winter enjoy snowboarding and skiing with twenty minute drive. Use the cottage as a base to work, explore, hike, or just kickback.

Nearest Airport: Queenstown at 210 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 100 Metres

Lake Ohau Cottage has the best location in Lake Ohau Village. It has privacy and outstanding views. Lake Ohau Village is 1 1/4 hour drive south of Mount Cook and 2 1/2 hours north of Queenstown. Wanaka is less than two hours, Dunedin is 3 1/4 hours and Christchurch is 4 1/2 hours. Within a 25 minute drive is Omarama, a world gliding centre, and Twizel, a world rowing venue. In both Omarama and Twizel there are shopping, restaurants, grocery stores and service stations. Ohau Snowfields, (skiing and snowboarding), is a twenty minute drive. There are extensive hiking opportunities in the Conservation land surrounding Lake Ohau Village...day walks up Freehold Creek, North Temple Valley, Ben Ohau or Qualburn or overnight hiking tramps in a series of huts. Lake Ohau cottage is a two minute walk to Lake Middleton and to Lake Ohau. Fishing, kayaking, swimming are possible in both lakes. The cottage is surrounded by the two lakes, the Southern Alps, and views, views, views.
