North Amsterdam House Boat Rental Photos and Description

A modern and recently refurnished apartment with a romantic touch on a houseboat. The location is very close to the busy centre of Amsterdam but still in a quiet residential area. A nice place to return to after a day of exploring Amsterdam.

The houseboat has 2 separate double bedrooms; not many houseboats have this.

The kitchen is complete, so you can make the choice whether to eat out or make a home meal.

To get to central station takes about 10 minutes by bicycle and 15 minutes by foot. You can also take the bus for 1 stop.

Ferry free of charge taking you over 'het IJ' to central station 24/7, offering a beautiful view of the canal.

Suitability:
  • children welcome

Fantastic Houseboat !!!!

  • 5 of 5
We've spent a great Time at this lovely houseboat.
My mother (60) and my daughter (5) and me (33) loved to stay there. It is just like a flat with everything You Need. Two complete bedrooms, complete kitchen and bathroom, very clean and friendly. It was so nice to whatch the ducks and swans...
It is just a few minutes walk to the Station and to the City and the Ferry is free.
We have enjoyed our Trip very much and hope to come back One Day.

perfect location for holiday trip

For three of the four of us, this was the first time in Amsterdam, and being accommodated on this absolutely cosy, very clean, well maintained and modern houseboat contributed significantly to our positive travel experience.

Supplied with all the equipment (cooking ware, television, even books and blankets) you may need to make your stay as comfortable and homey as possible, the apartment, furnished with a great love for detail and style, was sufficiently roomy and during late breakfasts light-flooded enough to give us a first, clear impression of the upcoming day.

Communication with the friendly and helpful owners proved to be easy and straightforward, while the fact that the property is situated in a rather peaceful residential area ensured recreative hours of tight sleep amidst an authentic living experience with a close-by grocery store catering to day-to-day culinary tastes.

Within walking minutes you reach the ferry, which connects you to the city centre where the bustling cultural life of Amsterdam and all its attractions may be explored. Upon return after a long day of sight-seeing, however, we were all really grateful to retreat to a more quiet realm to recuperate and reflect on all the new impressions.

This in every sense absolutely fantastic apartment is whole-heartedly and highly recommended to anyone who does not mind living a little bit off the city centre, yet not too far away either - and basically looks for a temporary home away from home.

We enjoyed our stay tremendously, remaining with a big "Thank you and see you again soon!".

Read the other reviews, all of them are correct. Everything has been said already. There is actually no downside to a stay at the boat, and I am serious.

Very easy to get there by bus too, bus stop is Distelweg, which is under 3min walk. Public transport is actually a mess, compared to our german systems in the bigger cities. You can not get decent combi tickets, at least it did not work for us, because the walking time ferry from/to the boat is too short to spend a lot of money. You should park your car at a transferium, easy to get back and forth, remember to always pick a train ticket, else they rip your pants off (8€/day normally, but 24€ without train ride, if I recall correctly).

Let me concentrate rather on the beers that you should buy at the "Dirk van den Broek" Supermarket at Meeuwenlaan. It's a bit of a walk (better by car every few days) but you can get your "Dommelsch Pilsener" and "Grolsch Premium Pilsener" there. And the best Radler of the world is "Amstel Radler", the other products of Amstel are not really outstanding. Forget Heineken, also forget the "Heineken Experience", obviously need to wait for hours sometimes. Make a hop on/off trip with the busses and go visit Alkmaar for a gracht tour. A MUST! Very different to Amsterdam. We were very pleased with the Amsterdam zoo, too!

Everything was fine. Very friendly host with clean apartments. The Best: perhaps 10 min per feet away from Amsterdam Centraal. We hope to come back very soon :))

excellent location, quiet but close to the city

We (family with 2 kids) enjoyed our stay at the houseboat very much. The boat is well renovated, clean and cosy. The stairs are indeed a bit steep but were no problem for our two year old. The interior is friendly and very well described in the page.

The owner was extraordinary helpful, very friendly during the preparations and when we were there.

If we come next time to Amsterdam, we will again stay here!

A quiet & spacious houseboat

A quiet & spacious houseboat

As a party of 3 (2 adults, 1 teeenager) we stayed 3 nights in late October 2013. Although the weather was stormy and quite cool, the boat was neither cold nor shaky. The rooms were clean an friendly decorated, equipped with good beds and practical furniture. Every appliance was working fine. A few more cups and cutlery would have made the equipment perfect.
Although late on arrival, the owner waited for us to hand the keys personally. We we're offered a phone number to call in case of further assistance (which was not the case). Payment and return of deposit was handled perfectly.
It took about 10-15 minutes from the boat to the ferry (every 6 minutes during day, 12 minutes during nighttime), and less than 5 minutes with the ferry to the main railway station (So all in all about 25 minutes from the boat to start your sightseeing tour). From there the whole inner city with the "Grachten" can be crossed by foot within 20 minutes.
The boat's area ist pretty much a quiet suburb with no special attractions. Due to our short stay we concentrated on the inner city. Our recommendation: Just walk around or take a boat, rest in one of those thousands of beautiful cafes and enjoy! And beyond that: Anne Frank huis is a "must" (Buy your ticket online! It saves hours.) and the Amsterdam Historic Museum brings history to life, even for kids.
So that's 5 of 5 stars from us.

Located in a quiet residential area. It's a 10 minutes walk to the free ferry (runs 24 hours a day) which takes you in a couple of minutes straight to the Central station right in the middle of the city. From here all the major attractions of Amsterdam like the Anne Frank House, van Gogh museum etc. are easy to reach by bus or tram. The best way is however to rent bikes to move around like the locals.
